B2 | Chapter 55 - Tier 4 Salamanders

Cassandra

Year 820 | Month 7 | Day 18

Four entire days pass by as I slaughter the Tier 3 salamanders one after another, not even bothering with wasting my Wrath energy to do so. Simply because my jewel is drawing in a lot of Wrath energy from the surroundings and coating my claws with black and crimson flames and lightning at the same time. Which I have to admit kind of looks cool.

Mostly it just saves me Wrath energy. Since I don’t need to directly use any against these Tier 3s, what with them being so weak in comparison to myself.

But I notice something as time goes on.

Specifically that the monsters are starting to appear less often. Likely because there’s only a limited amount of them here, even if there’s a lot.

And right as I’m starting to find it difficult to even locate more of them, the walls of the cavern I’m in suddenly explode. Shooting out magma into the cavern.

But it’s not just the cavern I’m in, because I see it happening in the tunnels down both ways as well.

I narrow my eyes, only for a faint grin to spread across my face at what I see next. That being the sight of larger salamanders flooding out of the magma shooting from the walls. Ones that are about four or so meters long, with scales that aren’t as crimson as the elite salamanders but are still brighter than the regular Tier 3 salamanders.

Tier 4 salamanders.

Immediately after seeing the creatures, I spread both of my arms out, lift myself up into the air on a cloud of crimson Wrath lightning, and begin building up more and more Wrath lightning all around me. And just seconds after that, I shoot out the Wrath lightning at all of the magma around me. The molten hot liquid magma.

I feel a slight wave of ecstasy fill me when my Wrath lightning immediately travels through the magma, shocking everything it touches within the magma.

Or, to be more specific, shocking the Tier 4 salamanders en masse.

Fortunately for me, most of the Tier 4 salamanders are weaker and at the lower levels of Tier 4. Although it’s just as unfortunate as it is fortunate, since it means less EXP for me. But the Tier difference is more important than the level difference. What with monsters giving EXP using the formula 2*n*T EXP per monster. With n being the current level of the individual and T being their Tier.

I blink as I think about what I just thought about.

Actually, never mind. The Tier isn’t that much more important.

It’s still important though.

Anyways, with their levels being lower, I quickly manage to slaughter all of the salamanders in the cavern and the neighboring tunnels and caverns. Doing even more damage than I was expecting simply because of the magma that’s now pretty much filling the tunnels and making all of the tunnels just full of magma. At least to ankle level.

So the lightning is just traveling through the tunnels thanks to the magma, turning the salamanders it hits to ash with ease. And probably traveling a bit further than normal lightning would simply because of the fact that it’s Wrath lightning.

That said, there’s a slight issue with this as well.

I quickly move to dig a hole in the wall of the cavern I’m in as I feel the walls shaking and hear the roars of some elite salamanders heading this way.

The Wrath lightning hit elite salamanders as well. And they’re not particularly pleased about being attacked.

Fortunately for me, the elite salamanders just end up fighting amongst themselves when they arrive. Leading to a free-for-all battle between elite salamanders that damages the cavern itself. Likely because they’re all assuming the other elite salamanders are the ones that attacked them.

I end up waiting inside of the small pocket I made inside of the wall while hiding myself with my Wrath energy manipulation for an entire twenty minutes. Just letting the elite salamanders battle it out until they finally split off and leave the cavern. At which point I finally leave the pocket in the wall.

Alright, so I’d say that worked out rather well.

I did get enough EXP to reach level 37 after all.

So, with a smile on my face, I quickly open my status and select the plus to raise my level from level 36 to level 37. Bringing me one step closer to the level cap of Tier 4.

I purse my lips as I float on a cloud of Wrath lightning over the magma-filled cavern, just calculating the amount of EXP I need to level up to level 38. Using the formula I remember for it.

Which is (10*(n^T)). With n and T being the same as the other formula.

So my current amount of EXP I need to level up, not including the small amount of EXP I have leftover from the last level, should be…

18,741,610 EXP.

A little bit less considering that I still have some EXP from the last level.

Unfortunately for me, it’ll take more monsters than there are left in this corrupted dungeon to even reach that amount for a single level. Which is… not good.

Well, excluding the elite salamanders and the drake, none of which I can see myself killing while here.

But so long as I can complete the Corrupted Dungeon Mission… I should be receiving more than enough EXP to level up at least once or twice. Judging by past dungeon missions and their rewards compared to how much more difficult this dungeon is than the previous ones.

Overall, I think I’ll be good to take on the leader of those golem demons outside by the time I clear this place.

So he’ll be my next goal.

First I need to finish this mission though. Which shouldn’t take too long.

I just have to not be killed by the elite salamanders or the drake in the time it takes me to slaughter these Tier 3 and 4 salamanders.

After giving myself a single nod to lift my confidence, I quickly begin searching for the next salamanders to hunt.
