B2 | Chapter 36 - New Intel and Training

Cassandra

Year 820 | Month 5 | Day 8

The books here state that devouring the wings of an angel will increase the amount of Wrath energy that a demon has in them. Which will, in turn, turn a lower ranking demon into a higher ranking one. Assuming they breath the threshold of energy needed for that.

So not all angels will bump a demon up. And some will need multiple angels’ wings.

Overall though, this is apparently because angels, while they don’t use a virtue energy – which is apparently a thing – themselves, they have virtue energies in their bodies. And virtue energies are the polar opposites of Sin energies.

To the point that they feed off of each other.

It’s not just demons that can eat angel wings, but angels that can eat demon wings as well. Although the weak demons scattered across the plane don’t exactly make for much of a meal to most of the angels surviving here.

The only ones that would help them are the archdemons.

And they’re a lot stronger than any of the angels stranded in Hell.

Plus there aren’t many archdemons left. Just a few total.

But the most important thing that I got out of this, other than the history and System stuff, is that the demons determine rank by the amount of Sin energy you have. Wrath energy to be specific.

And if that’s the case…

I purse my lips before putting the books in my storage ring and heading back to the city. With my cloak and mask on just in case.

Then, just like clockwork, all of the demons immediately start kneeling in my direction again just at the sight of me and feel of my energy.

The corners of my lips quirk upwards a bit as I feel a bit more confident and take off my hood. But that doesn’t change their actions in the slightest, even if it does seem to surprise some of them.

They still continue kneeling while trembling in fear.

Now this will make things easier.

I march straight through the city again until I arrive at the library once more and waltz right on inside. Then I continue my reading session but with the full materials they have there.

And through that I learn about the Demon King’s castle, which is located at the northern peak, or as some worlds call it, northern pole of the planet. I learn about how territory is divided amongst the archdemons, albeit with archdemons still having absolute authority over any demon below them. Regardless of territory.

And I learn about how the plane is completely cut off from any other plane.

Which means I’m gonna have to figure out how the hell I’m going to get out of this plane.

But for now, there is a more pressing matter that requires my attention.

A rather convenient opportunity that’s been given to me by my current situation.

I finish up reading the books before leaving the library and the terrified people inside behind. Only to then leave the city and head towards a random secluded location within the plane of hell. One so secluded that I’m absolutely sure no one will just stumble inside.

Then I begin using The Calling of Wrath again to start the failed transformation, pushing forwards my Wrath Transformation further.

Just like I did in the Dark Forest.

And unlike with how it went in the Dark Forest, I don’t have to care about the Wrath energy filling the surroundings. Not even a little bit.

After all, the plane is already full of Wrath energy. Not to mention that I don’t have to worry about any humans turning into monsters.

The only things living here are demons, and I doubt they’ll be affected by a heavily Wrath energy infested area.

Actually, they may prefer the place.

Judging by what I read in the library at least. With them being able to very slowly absorb Wrath energy if they’re in a place with enough of it.

Since demons can’t increase or alter the amount of Wrath energy they have. It’s like they’re born with a set pool of it that is replenishable but can’t be grown or shrunk at all.

Anyways, I keep up this process on repeat, pausing for just long enough so that I won’t get injured too badly from it. Seeing as I’d rather not end up injured too badly to fight or escape from any demons that might stumble on the cavern I’m in. Which shouldn’t happen, but could theoretically be possible.

No matter how unlikely it is for a random demon to find this location.

I would spend more time trying to figure out how to get back, but I need power right now more than anything else. Because those archdemons were above level 70, with the Demon King being level 80. And they aren’t restricted in their level here, unlike me.

So the Demon King could probably kill me with a flick of his finger with how powerful I am now.

At the very least I need to reach Tier 4.

And to do that, I need to bring my Wrath Transformation to 5%.

I transform over and over again with several hours between each transformation to avoid injuring myself over the course of entire months. Yet, surprisingly enough, I find myself able to transform more often with each one. As if my body is growing more and more used to transforming.

Probably one of the benefits of advancing my Wrath Transformation.

A very useful benefit at that.

And one I take advantage of to transform even more often. With me gradually growing used to the pain of these half-baked transformations over time.

Which I’m not sure is necessarily a good thing, but whatever.

By the time I finally finish and get the System Notes I’m looking for though, I find my surroundings to look very… unique.

To say the least.

Because it’s rather hard to see through this very thick haze of Wrath energy filling the cavern.
