B2 | Chapter 11 - Catching a Shark Part I

Cassandra

Year 820 | Month 5 | Day 1

To my surprise, the day ends up being rather uneventful. The only thing that happens is a single attack by a group of Tier 3 monsters. An attack I deal with without any trouble.

But Dad isn’t happy about this. Instead it just seems to be making him worry.

I can’t help but frown at it as well.

We’re not out of the monster infested waters yet, so there should be more monsters around.

But there aren’t.

Silence fills the ocean as we sail without a single soldier saying even a word. Instead everyone is just standing at the side of the ship, just waiting for something to happen.

I move around the sides of the ship, just going in loops around it while making sure my aura covers the entire ship as I search the area repeatedly.

And after an entire hour of doing this, something large enters my aura and I shout, “It’s here!”

Right as all of the soldiers are reacting to my shout, a loud splash echoes out and a massive shark jumps out of the water straight over the ship before landing on the other side. But not before I manage to identify the monster.

“Cass!” Dad’s voice roars out over the rattling of armor and weapons and the roar of the shark itself, and I immediately shout back, “Got it!”

Then I jump off the ship into the water while activating The Calling of Wrath’s transformation.

A piece of advice that Nidhogg gave me was that the transformation isn’t entirely random. It is largely influenced by my environment.

So if I transform in the ocean…

Due to your use of the skill The Calling of Wrath’s first effect, the following changes have been made to your status:

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

All stats while transformed will be doubled.

All attacks will disturb the Wrath energy within whatever is hit, causing it to run rampant in their body, sending very minimal amounts of true damage to various parts of them.

The Temporary Skill ‘Call of Wrath’ has been given to you to use once. This skill will release all of the Wrath built up within your body at once in a single breath attack. However, the longer you have been in beast form, the weaker the breath attack will be.

These changes will last either till three hours have passed, or you use the Call of Wrath skill.

Note: Whether you use the skill or not, it will vanish once you revert back.

My thoughts are cut off as the usual wave of pain radiates through me along with the red and black energy enveloping my entire body. But the pain cuts off just as quickly when I find my vision returning. And along with my vision are quite the number of new sensations. For one, I can easily tell that I am quite a bit bigger than before. For two, my sense of touch isn’t as acute as before.

The biggest difference though is that I now have tentacles.

It doesn’t take me long to realize what I’ve transformed into.

A giant squid.

Or I guess a kraken, considering what I hear some of the soldiers shouting from the ship.

Either way, I quickly focus my attention on the giant shark as I dive under the water and get a full view of the creature as it begins to swim back towards the ship only to pause when it sees me.

I really wish I could grin right now, because the idea of turning this little sharkie into my optional objective clear is a rather tantalizing one.

Our plan for if a Tier 4 monster were to show up was for me to fight it in my transformed state while the others distract and whittle away at the creature with their own attacks on the ship. As long as I continue to keep its attention on me.

The shark seems to hesitate for a little bit, as if it were trying to decide if it can take me on or not. Which is a little surprising, but also not at the same time. Since my stats are doubled right now, I should be about as strong as the Tier 4. Just because it’s only level 31. Meaning the thing likely only recently reached Tier 4.

Which bodes well for my chances at defeating it.

Both the shark and I stare at each other for a few seconds before moving at the same time. I instinctively begin to run an electric current of Wrath lightning through my tentacles and the water around us using the Wrath power this kraken form comes with while the large shark begins to charge at me. And all of the water in the way of its charge is pushed to the side in the form of a large underwater current that I can tell creates waves above the surface as well.

To my surprise, the Wrath lightning doesn’t do much more than lightly burn the shark as it charges. So I quickly try to get out of the way, but the shark proves to be a lot faster than a kraken. Which makes sense.

But right when the monster is about to reach me, attacks begin to flood it from the surface, distracting the creature and letting me quickly turn around and send a blast of Wrath lightning at it with all ten of my massive tentacles, the red and black light from the lightning reflecting off of my equally black and red scales.

The shark manages to shake off the attacks from Dad and the soldiers right before it turns back and opens its mouth towards my Wrath lightning.

Then a pulse of blue lightning suddenly first straight out of its open maws at my Wrath lightning, making the two explode in-between the two of us, sending various waves outwards from our position.

Damn, what were the chances it’d have a lightning type magic too?!
