B2 | Chapter 54 - A Blessing

Cassandra

Year 820 | Month 7 | Day 14

The altar shows the same identify result as an item as I stare at it.

Drake’s Altar

Effects: This hidden item grants the user one blessing.

Tier: 6

A Tier 6 item. The first time I’ve ever seen one.

I glance at the hole behind me before quickly moving up to the altar and touching it with a claw. And the instant I do that, the thing begins to glow with a brilliant crimson light. Then a System Note appears in my vision of the same color as the light.

User has now received the blessing of the Drake’s Altar within the Wrathful Caverns of Hell corrupted dungeon and will therefore receive one randomized benefit from amongst the following:

One random Tier 6 item.

One random amount of EXP ranging between 1, 10, 1000, 10000, 1000000, 10000000, and 1000000000.

Or one random card ranging between a Random Skill Level-Up Card and a Random Item Draw of varying Tiers.

Holy shit…

With the exception of the low amounts of EXP, pretty much everything I can get is incredible. Although I’m not sure which one I would want right now.

Maybe the Tier 6 item? Since that would be the highest Tier item I’ve ever gotten.

I purse my lips as I watch a strange symbol spin around in circles at the center of my vision. One of a large serpent eating its own tail. Which kind of makes me think of the Jormungandr Sin monster. Even though I’ve never seen it.

When the symbol finally goes away though, I find the very result I had thought of appearing.

A random Tier 6 item.

Now selecting a random Tier 6 item. Please wait.

o O o

Congratulations! You have obtained the item ‘Jewel of Wrath’

This item automatically infuses the Wrath energy of the wearer’s surroundings into every single one of the user’s attacks whether the attacks are directly executed or indirectly executed! The user may also directly infuse Wrath energy into their attacks through the jewel to empower them further than any skills may go, and the jewel is indestructible so long as the one wearing it is the Embodiment of Wrath herself.

I blink as a glowing crimson jewel appears in front of me. One that is absolutely radiating Wrath energy. So much so that it’s almost blinding.

Without any hesitation, I grab the thing, only for it to suddenly dissolve in my claw. Then it reappears once more over my chest. And for some reason I get the feeling it’ll completely replace the jewel I have set in my armor when I return to my normal humanoid form again.

I feel a wave of Wrath energy flooding into me, increasing my current amount of Wrath energy in the process while also no doubt coating my body in an invisible layer of Wrath energy.

Nice! Very nice!

That’s not all though as another System Note appears in my vision telling me that I’ve cleared this particular objective of the Corrupted Dungeon Mission. Which is good. Because now I can leave this lair and try to avoid the drake like the plague now.

So with that plan in mind, I head back halfway through the hole towards the lair before pausing to check and sense for the drake. And after not finding it, I continue through as quickly as I can until I briefly stop at its treasure.

One second passes. Then another.

Then I begin swiping a bunch of its treasure and storing it into my storage ring before leaving the lair and looking back and forth between the different directions. Not really sure about which way to go in order to avoid the drake.

I can’t sense it anywhere nearby despite its immense presence, so it can’t be nearby regardless of the direction I go. But at the same time, I would rather not have any chance at running into it again.

At least I won’t have to worry about it being berserk if I do find it again right now. Since it won’t have been back to its lair again.

It would still try to take me back, assuming it still believes I’m its child. Which I kind of doubt since I’d be wandering far away from its lair.

But who knows. The thing didn’t seem too bright nor attentive, so it could be possible.

I still don’t want to test it though, so I try as hard as I can to figure out which path seems to have the most recent grooves.

And, as expected, I fail miserably and end up guessing. Seeing as I’m not a tracker.

So I head in the way I came originally. Since it feels like it would go in a different way this time, what with it coming from the same direction as me.

I just hope I’m right.

With that thought in mind, I make my way as quickly as I can through the tunnels and caverns. Far, far away from the drake’s lair.

Minutes pass. Then entire hours while I gradually begin to kill monsters along the way, with my new jewel not really showing me much benefit since I’m killing the Tier 3 salamanders with ease anyways. And eventually my transformation runs out and I’m left in my regular form again. With that new jewel, as expected, replacing the old jewel in my armor.

And throughout the entire process, I don’t sense hide nor hair of the drake. Or rather, I don’t sense it’s Wrath energy. Especially since it has no hair.

A faint smile stretches across my face.

Good.

I guessed correctly this time.

Now I just need to hope I finally find those annoying Tier 4 salamanders. Both for the EXP and to test out my new jewel.

My new Tier 6 item.

I glance down at the glowing crimson jewel with a smile.

Until a thought crosses my mind that makes me blink.

Wait, will this make me even more noticeable to the demons outside?

I stare at it for a few seconds before deciding to act like I didn’t just have that thought as I continue walking through the tunnel I’m currently in.
