Liathtrian Flagship
Year 820 | Month 4 | Day 19
Less than an hour ago
Archibald can’t help but repeatedly tap his foot as he stands at the center of his flagship’s deck, hundreds of possible ways that his daughter could’ve gotten in trouble or hurt or even killed on the way here constantly passing through his mind. Meanwhile his two sons direct the soldiers into mooring the ship into the port.
Is she okay? Please let her be okay…
His foot repeatedly taps, slowly growing to a speed faster than the regular human eye can keep up with, thereby wearing away at the wood making up the deck in the process. And after a while, he begins to tap his finger against his arm, his arms crossed in front of his chest in the process.
But what if they ran into the Leviathan? Or worse… what if they ran into the World Serpent?!
“Father, calm down,” Charles says, having approached him without his realizing it. “I’m sure she’ll be fine.”
“Yeah!” Rodrick shouts from several meters away while helping some soldiers move boxes despite their objections of having a prince doing the work meant for them. “Little Cass will be fine! You know how she is!”
Archibald finally stops tapping his foot with a sigh before shaking his head and muttering, “I know. But…”
“You can’t help but worry,” Charles finishes with a look of understanding on his face.
The king nods his head without another word as he looks back out over the ocean again, hoping to find a sign – any sign – of the ship from Aulta.
And it’s not just the sea monsters… she’s never been with the Aultan royal family for so long. I hope she’s being treated well, and that that bastard hasn’t harmed her in any way.
After a second to think about it thought, he shakes his head.
No, he wouldn’t do anything. He simply doesn’t care enough to do something like that. Plus he’s not stupid.
Archibald continues looking out over the water for several minutes until his eldest finally pats his shoulder and says, “Why don’t you do something to take your mind off of it for now?”
The king sighs before eventually taking his gaze off of the horizon as he shouts, his voice carrying over to the entire crew of soldiers, “After you finish, go ahead and take a ten minute break. We will then move out to the World Tree after that, with Fredrick deciding on who goes and who stays!”
Everyone on the ship pauses what they’re doing with each of them that have their hands free either saluting or bowing his way while they all shout, “Yes, Your Majesty!” and then going back to their work with even more enthusiasm than before.
Meanwhile Archibald turns his head slightly and speaks to the man directly behind him to the side and says, “Make sure to keep at least ten knights on the ship when we set off. You can decide which ones.”
Out of the corner of his eye, he sees the commander of the Liathtrian Royal Guard nodding his head with a brief, “Yes, Your Majesty.”
Archibald tries very hard not to glance at the horizon again as he watches his men go about doing their jobs, supervising things despite having officers to do that for him. And at some point, he brings up his status.

Gotten a good amount of EXP over the trip here. And True Mind finally showed its worth defending me from the mental attacks sent my way by the sirens.
At first, Archibald wasn’t sure about that talent. A talent that grants him full immunity towards any mental affecting power, whether an attack or otherwise. It was certainly powerful, but not very useful at a low level like he was.
After seeing some of his battle hardened soldiers falling prey to the siren’s song, he immediately began to understand just how helpful the talent was. Even if his sons still showed tremendous resistance towards them due to their levels.
Although he admits that some of that may also be because of Rodrick’s Steel Mind talent giving him a significant boost to his Mental stats, and Charles’ Elemental Immunity talent making him immune to basic elemental magic.
Time passes by slowly over the next twenty or so minutes as Archibald tries very hard to focus on his men and the work they’re nearing finished with. Then, out of nowhere, a loud splash echoes from another portion of the port, making everyone stop their work for a moment to look. And what they find is the sight of a Nidhogg flying away from a ship that had somehow appeared at the port. One flying the flag of the Aultan kingdom.
“She’s here,” Archibald states, feeling relief at seeing the flag – the first time that’s ever happened. But despite that, he still feels slightly tense as he still has yet to see his daughter on the ship. “Finish your work before we do anything.”
The two brothers quickly hurry around to the soldiers, inspecting everything at a much faster pace than they were going before. And soon enough, they finish everything and return to their father, only to immediately focus on the Aultan flagship instead.
“I think I caught a glimpse of her, but she’s not near the edge of the ship, so it was hard to tell for sure,” Archibald mentions to them, making them both slightly disappointed and excited at the same time. The king then moves to the edge of the ship and then onto the gangway, leaving the flagship to step onto the stone and metal of the port with his two sons behind him, and an array of knights behind them. But throughout the entire time, he and the princes barely take their eyes off of the Aultan ship.
The moment all of the knights make it to the port, leaving behind just ten on the ship, the king and princes all hear a shout echoing across the water towards them.
“Wrath! We’re leaving!”
They share a glance, only to turn back to the ship again.
Archibald can’t help the broad smile that stretches across his face when he finally sees his daughter stepping onto the ship’s gangway and off of the ship.
“Cass!” Archibald shouts, his voice making some of the knights around them wince due to his volume as it echoes all the way to the other side of the port where his daughter raises her head to look at him and smiles. And it’s at this point that he finally notices her inhuman traits. Particularly, her eyes.
But he doesn’t care, and neither do Charles or Rodrick as the two of them shout after he does.
“She’s alive and well,” Archibald says, a wave of relief running through him at finally seeing her again.
Thank Yggdrasil she’s safe… I don’t know if I could’ve taken losing her too.
