Chapter 26: Last Shot at Peace

Chapter 26: Last Shot at Peace

The pocket dimension wouldn't be called such by any observers, from the inside it looks like some kind of royal ballroom designed from sleek crystal. Crystal candelabra's give off more light than they normally would, and servants were generated by the pocket dimension in the form of butler-like golems. A large window dominates one side of the room, from that window the planet, its moon, and the sun are all somehow visible. The debris from the slain titans slowly orbit the planet, one occasionally lights up and shoots at the planet below, while the other launched pods to the surface. The delegates of the various forces slowly begin to stream in, many are attracted to the sight of the planet below, and gather at the window.

The Agricultural Necromancer Union has lost much of its land, but most of the necromancers themselves escaped prosecution thanks to efforts from The Lost, enough to still be considered a major player on the planet by the Central Governor. They are currently happily discussing the sight below, mostly how their planet looks so much more peaceful from up here. Most delegates look worried, as all the local major forces have cordial relations with a major faction of death magic users, as death magic never had the greatest of reputations. None however, manage to outdo The Order of Melthazar in their open hatred of necromancer presence. They aren't just ideologically opposed to the necromancer union, but have fought both them and The Lost on plenty of occasions, they know better than anyone that they are irrelevant threats on their own, but together make up for each other's deficits.

There are plenty of other factions who have all staked their claim on the little planet, but as the interest from the core world increases, they become much more wary. Usually the core worlds hold each other in check too much for them to care about matters pertaining to the outer regions, but a [Mythic] class being existing here has thrown a wrench in the works of many of their ongoing plans. The few who have been able to continue relatively undisturbed are the ones that came to trade, and have little military presence.

The large crystal doors of the ballroom creak, and the wall makes a loud noise as the next set of delegates enter. Krantz almost pukes a little at the sight of them, while Müller fully turns her head and holds her hand over her mouth. Most of the other delegates are disgusted by the sight of this set of delegates as well, they look like humans who were turned inside out, with various cybernetic parts crudely grafted onto them afterward. Grantz turns to the Hive delegate, who seems mostly confused by the human delegates all bending over at the sight, only the necromancers among the humans aren't actively disgusted.

"I thought you said anyone trying to attack anyone else would get kicked out, what the hell is this?" Before the ant can respond to Krantz, the delegates of the wrecked [Fragment of Space] shift as they see the humans, and portray a more... human appearance. There is still plenty about them that would land them in the uncanny valley, but at least they aren't stirring anyone's bowels anymore.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"We apologize for sloppy mimicry work, our knowledge of how humans worked was mostly gathered from corpses." The delegates of one of the orbiting bodies reigning terror on the world below is here, does that mean the wrecked time titan also have a representative?

More diplomats stream in over the length of the event, while plenty of trade deals, empty promises, and vain threats are already being made. Krantz begins to look around, and takes stock of the others present. Eventually, even a certain six-winged angel enters, carrying some large black pillar embedded with crystals. She gets plenty of stares, but none dare approach judgement as she makes her way to stare out of the window, even in a supposed safe zone.

The traders, the biggest players of which are The Hive, Dwergo, The Wild, and Glass Sky. Who are ant-people, dwarves, sentient plants and wizards respectively. All of them are interested in the large amounts of processed metal that the planet can produce, and while they don't particularly care if everyone on the planet dies or not, the invading forces have done a universally piss poor job at managing any conquered factories that weren't deemed hives of Lost activity. So the traders tend to favour the lost whenever they can... which isn't often.

The invaders, the biggest players of which are The Order of Melthazar, Pash'tarva, and The Scourge. Who are zealot knights, genocidal elves, and roided wizards respectively. There are plenty others, but they all got sidelined by the sheer fact that this planet is getting invaded by 3 different core worlds at the same time. Their interests are to see if judgement is worthy of worship or a heresy, scour this planet of all non-elf life, and scavenge judgement (along with the rest of the planet) for reagents. They aren't friends with each other, but physical distance would limit their clashes until The Lost are destroyed as an organized force.

The locals, the biggest players of which are The Lost, The Agricultural Necromancer Union, Church of the Word, and various locals interested in working with The Lost in repelling the invaders. We consist of castaways, the insane, the wishful thinker, and the desperate respectively. Our interests lay in not dying because our existence isn't appreciated by... most planets out there. As one can guess, the heavy lifting of the fighting comes down to The Lost, but we would have certainly all died by now without the help of the others.

The independents, the biggest players of which are the enigmatic representatives of the wrecked [Fragment of Space], the pillar who apparently is the [Shard of Time], [Justitia, Seraphim of Judgement], and the adventurer's guild. These are the only ones both powerful enough to carve their own realm while not aligning with anyone else. The spacers have apparently been mainly active trying to invade the far east, while getting blasted into oblivion by the old timer wherever they land. Despite being quite actively busy, both of them have only been increasing the scale of their attacks. As for Judgement, she doesn't need an introduction, she knows what she did, and only she knows why. The last one is the adventurer's guild, who seem to be a faction of mercenaries, as long as the mercenary behavior isn't related to war.
