Chapter 22: Home Sweet Home

Chapter 22: Home Sweet Home

Justitia rises high up in the sky, past the clouds, past where it's easy to breathe. The higher she goes, the darker the sky gets. Justitia doesn't care about the lack of oxygen, heat or anything at all as she keeps rising, for she has encased herself in a bubble of hardened light magic. She keeps going until the flapping of her wings no longer move her along, so she switches to riding on the light instead. Before she reaches the ruined battleship, she looks at the space around, and the world below. The sun seems to shine... dimly on the world below, its beautiful light only reaching the world below in name. The clouds on the world seems to have increased, and it's harder to see the beautiful ball of dirt when it hides away from Justitia's piercing gaze.

She reaches her destination, an airlock located on the ruined ship. The outer airlock is partially jammed open, the direct result of the blast. The inner airlock is still stable, and Justitia closes the outer airlock behind her. Wouldn't want to let in any vacuum. Justitia thinks to herself as her tears have properly evaporated, if the ship is her dad, he would probably not like it if she left open any doors. She approaches the inner airlock control, and puts her hand on the scanner.

"" Justitia frowns at the feminine voice of the automated system, she's pretty sure that isn't her mom, and that means dad has at least one woman living inside of him that isn't mom. Justitia takes a moment to ponder that line of thought, who is her mom then? It's probably not important, her dad is only her dad in name, after all. As she's walking through the hallways, she comes across machines working on various systems. They completely ignore Justitia as they are trapped in their endless cycle of work, but the cameras do look at her constantly.

After giving the cameras a wave, the Seraphim makes her way to the bridge. If there would be a place with answers, it would be there. Plenty of security robots patrol the corridors as she moves past, but all of them completely ignore her, and sometimes actively evade her. Justitia keeps moving onward until a cart filled with... corpses passes her. She looks at the corpses and finds that they are all non-sapient creatures she would find on the planet below. From vermin to dogs with scythes coming out of their mouths, small animalistic robots that have a completely different design than the sleek U.N.E. robots, and some clockwork machines are also in between the logistics cart.

Entering the bridge, she finds it half-destroyed. Maintenance bots are hard at work to mend the damaged ship, using metals forged by a large autonomous primitive furnace in the U.N.E. design style. In the center of the bridge is a tall black pillar, encrusted with crystal, much like the crystal Alura was protecting.

"" The obelisk speaks in a erratic yet monotone voice, betraying no hint of emotion. Justitia is merely baffled that anything that knows the slightest bit about her could refer to her as a fortunate outcome, she really expected worse from everyone by now.

"M-My scales... broke... can you fix them?" Justitia holds out her scales to the obelisk, who takes them carefully using a robotic claw.

"." The obelisk is straightforward in its words, yet somehow remaining enigmatic in purpose.

"Why tell me this? I know you could have just modified it to your own goals without telling me and said that whatever I do is the right thing." Justitia may be young, but certain types of behavior have become... visible to her regardless of entity, greed being a prominent one so far. Yet, the only thing she senses from the ominous obelisk is... a constant hint of pride?

"."

Justitia looks around her, watching the machines hard at work at repairing the bridge even while they were talking. She remembers the ship having been in a much more dire state when she left, and she left when the ship needed her the most, or did it even need her? Justitia hasn't built anything ever since arriving here, she has only destroyed. The obelisk in front of her hums in multicolored light as Justitia thinks, she knows she has so far lived as a tool, a tool to the scales, and later the environment. BARZA offers not the right thing to do, but BARZA does offer a path, and other than slaying her fellow destroyer Zhaggdu, he has only ever built things.

"I accept your offer, caretaker Barza, please allow me to help in building something." BARZA hums in what seems to be a pleased tone at Justitia's response.

"" As BARZA finishes talking, the robotic claw holding the [Scales of Judgement (UNE SG-Stalwart Martial Law) (Fatebound)] for Justitia to take, who for once in too long of a time finally feels like she's doing something right. Even if it isn't the right thing.

The world must become a better place, at all cost.
