Chapter 18: Judgement

Chapter 18: Judgement

Justitia has no idea what the baron is on about, other than some vague threats he's probably making. She does sense a lot of soldiers surrounding the area, and they are slowly surrounding her.

"When I first heard about an [Angel] wandering around my city, I was pleasantly surprised. The pleasantness did not last when I heard about the deaths of many in the sewers, while the first ones were criminals, they needed to have been tried in court, and then you went and killed the slaves too. If all that wasn't troubling enough, more people were found out to have been killed in the sewer not much later, some of which were adventurer's vital to suppressing monster activity. So, I did a little digging, and find that similar events have played out to the east of us here. A recent salvaging team had recovered some interesting artifacts, and the stories behind the areas where the artifacts were found were absolutely gruesome." The baron goes on a long-winded speech, while Justitia simply looks at him blankly, wondering if she should forcefully take the scales from him.

Just before Justitia can act on her thoughts, the baron takes out the scales himself. "So I find myself in the possession of a powerful artifact that works on whether someone is a criminal, at first I thought what the hell this has to do with a genocidal angel, but then the law that these scales work on is revealed to be utterly Draconian! So let's find out what your own tool thinks of you monster!" Justitia's eyes light up in surprise, someone is trying to bring her to justice?

Everyone present flinches back in fear as the weeping angel's wings quickly loses its once vibrant color. Her wings turn from a once beatiful color palette, to lookinh scorched. All the while more wings appear from the woman currently thrashing about. Her blindfold falls to the ground, burning to ash before it even hits the ground. Her eyes are dark black pits, with bright red at its center. The glow of the U.N. patch disappears, revealing that it was simply an illusion constructed from light.

"What are you all standing around for!? SOMEBODY KILL THE BITCH!" The baron's fury is heard clearly in his voice, and shakes his men out of their stupor. A crossbow bolt quickly finds purchase in Justitia, going straight through her passive defenses thanks to the scales. Justitia's crying quickly turns to a high-pitched wailing, and a beam of light disintegrates the offender. Another man attempts to behead Justitia, but his hands are quickly removed by a sword of concentrated light. He falls to his knees, screaming in pain, and looks up to see the weeping angel staring right at him.

Justitia sears the man's face off, and he goes prone in even louder screams as his face has partially melted. More soldiers launch their attacks at Justitia, and anyone who doesn't miss has their attacks find purchase. Justitia responds by blasting the entire room with light, burning the retina's of most people present. The baron quickly runs away to a backroom, fleeing from the scene, but Justitia doesn't care about him, or even the scales right now. She charges back to the entrance, searing her path through the now burning manor.

At the entrance she picks up her plasma cutter, she tries to pick up her cloak as well, but it simply burns at the touch. She at least still has the plasma cutter, it has never betrayed her. Outside the manor, she is confronted by a group of heavily armed adventurer's, and a few tough looking soldiers. All of which point their weapons at the biblical catastrophe made manifest. Justitia can practically feel the dense magic coming from the equipment of these people, and a siren is heard throughout Warshawa. Before the strike team of the cities strongest can act, Justitia slashes through multiple with lightning speed, their ashes to join the rest of Justitia's victims.

The others quickly backpedal, instinctively afraid, as the dust of their comrades reaches them before they register their demise. Justitia ignores the rest, and flies high above the city. Attacks are flung in her direction, but her wings bring her up too high too fast. Those below look up to see a second sun joining the one currently high above them, while the adventurers can feel the build up of magic coming from the second sun.

"Everyone take cove-" The city lights up brightly, and everyone standing outside without adequate protection is turned to dust, buildings are scorched by the attack, and ash floats through the city. Magical attacks increase in frequency aimed at the [Seraphim], as powerful mages emerge from their abodes. Just as the situation is escalating, and slowly turning against Justitia, every magic sensitive person feels a buildup of spatial magic.

A distortion in space draws the attention of everyone nearby, and a large mass of tentacled flesh shifts into the combat zone. The eyes dotting the surface of the skyscraper sized hunk of flesh lock on to the angel.

"[Feathers] [target] [power], [infant] [[Time]-enemy] [annihilation]." The words of the massive being are said without language, but understood by all those present.
