Chapter 9: Farming

As I woke up and floated down to the floor I looked around at all 40 of the mana shrooms on the wall, none of them split during the night. As I was about to start infusing the shrooms with mana, I started to think about the events of yesterday. This the change from WIS to G.WIS I'd grown calmer and started to question a lot more than I did since reincarnation. Even though it's only been 5-10 minutes since I got up and roughly the same amount of time for me consciously, it's a clear change. My mind’s more peaceful than ever before and it's so noticeable that I can honestly say I've never felt truly like this before.

After contemplating my substantial mental improvement, I had collected another 40 shrooms, consuming 36 for a total of 1800 mana so I can bring my mana up to 9000. I put the rest of the shrooms in my inventory for now. I was about to start infusing more of the shrooms when I realised that Shade shouldn’t have been able to change the quest and confronted him about it.

(Dark): “Shade, it down on me that you changed my quest without my permission, at the time I was too busy preparing to deal with the merrow that I didn’t notice. You shouldn’t have been able to do that right?”

(Shade): “Oh that little Darkness? Any being from Ohmaze can have a Quest changed midway as long as the quest giver isn’t changing the type and only add to the quest if the addition is thought to be within their capabilities, while also the quest recipient is fully capable as well. Both of us would have got notifications if you didn’t have the ability for my request. On the of chance you were both off us received a change to the quest. Is there any other questions, for me little Darkness.”

Thinking about it for a couple of seconds only one more question popped into my head.

(Dark): “Is there anything else I should know about the way the world's work? And I mean all the of them.”

(Shade): “Excellent wording little Darkness. For the world of Ohmaze there is a system that all beings born with, you appear familiar with it already. The system itself is flexible and can change almost completely if the right conditions are met. You might have already had some changes since a wisp normally doesn’t have enough VIT to stay awake as long as you did yesterday. There are lots of monster clans throughout the world but I only know of the ones that I can create and those that enter me such as goblins, kobolds and alurnes. These are the only native monsters I know and each have different priorities when the enter.

Folous is the world of the merrow the only monsters that come from another world to challenge me. Folous is a water world with lots of land slightly submerged in the planet's oceans. I don’t know anymore about Folous since I only got some info from a merrow that made a deal with me a long time ago.

From the same merrow I found out there are a few other worlds connected to Ohmaze. I don't have much info on them but they are called; Jarrjius a heavy world, Xefos metal world and Kiras no info on it.

If you just said the world instead of worlds you'd be in for a shock when you leave, little Darkness”

(Dark): “I’m a little taken aback by the fact Ohmaze is connected to so many worlds. It looks like this life if mine is either going to be painful or fun. Probably both though.”

(Shade): “Who knows maybe when you go to another world you’ll find a male wisp and settle down.”

(Dark): “Don’t joke about that, I don’t even know why a wisp needs a gender if it can spontaneously exist like me.”

(Shade): “It seems like you've still got a lot to learn about yourself and I'm not going to help you with that. By the way little Darkness what were you in your previously life?”

(Dark): “I was a male human why?”

(Shade): “Oh you are going to enjoy being a wisp when you find a partner.”

Laughing as he stopped talking to me I started to feel uncomfortable being female for the first time since reincarnation. Well nothing I can do about it, so I went back to infusing the mushrooms after 20 minutes of meditation since my mana was about 60% of my mana. After infusing the 40 mana shrooms I planted all 40 and went back to meditating and thinking. While I was meditating I opened up my stats screen and tried to upgrade my regen rate but I didn’t have enough AEXP still. When I finished thinking through what I could use my 15,000 AEXP on I was a little worrisome that it was a bad choice especially since it cost most of my AEXP. I used 10,000 AEXP to improve my light and dark affinity up to 5, it was nice to my non-existent eyes that it cost 5000 for both affinities.

With 5000 AEXP lest I decided that it would be best is I improved my VIT and since I wanted 5 points bit was a little short I ate my 4 shrooms from my inventory and a piece of shade glass getting an extra 1102 AEXP. since I now had enough I use 6100 AEXP to improve my VIT by 5 leaving me with 201 AEXP I decided to save. Although I still feel weak I know I'm a lot stronger than I should be especially with my mana pool almost at 10,000. Glade with my decision I went back to meditating and once I gathered 90% I infused all of the 80 shrooms gaining a spare 80, I planted 20 of them on the ceiling since I planned most on the floor, I put 40 into my inventory for later and devoured the last 20 bringing all of my mana up to 10,000 total. Suddenly a window popped up in front of me, I wasn’t even surprised at this point.

Congratulations For being the first being to break the 10,000 mana barrier before becoming level 10 or higher from Ohmaze you have been awarded: +5 to all stats

More stats are good and all but with this all my stats are higher than standard games start at, plus I can’t even use STR at all, not unless I stupidly fly into someone. With this it's safe to assume that I can gain rewards by being stronger than other of my level as well as long as it's by a large margin, I think.

Since I got to 10,000 mana why don’t I try and go for 100,000?  Make myself even harder to handle to fight. I was about to start meditating and go through with that but since I have a couple of experiment ideas I want to try out I think I'll spend an hour doing that. I took out a piece of shade glass and started to infuse some mana into it, I ended pouring 500 mana into the shade glass before having to stop and meditate. I simply didn't have enough mana when I started. After 20 minutes of meditating I started again and it only took another 500 mana before a window appears.

Mana Charged Shade Glass

This is shade glass which has been overcharged with mana. When shade glass is overcharged with mana it can be crafted into lots of useful materials for magic crafts. Those from a civilized culture might buy this from you.

AEXP: 400-600

Putting it in my inventory, this time I tried to add an element to it, since wind was still my highest I decided to try that first. When I finished infusing  the wind element into it I ended up with another mana charged shade glass. I didn’t think that applying the attribute would work since I had a hunch it wouldn’t. Still determined to try my idea I moved onto my last 2 attributes. This is where things got interesting since this time both worked and I created 2 different items.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

Shade Light Glass

This item was created when a young wisp infused light affinity into a piece of shade glass. It looks just the same but a faint light can be seen leaking for its surface. This type  item is a unique and can only be created. There are no known applications

AEXP: 2000

Shadow Glass

Shadow glass in an item commonly found in dungeons with a very strong affinity to the dark. Although it is uncommon it is possible to create shadow glass from standard glass and shade glass people usually do when they are looking to create Dark glass, a rare and hard to find or create material only master mages can even attempt fully creating lowest level Dark Glass.

AEXP: 500-1000

Congratulations By creating an item which is a blend of light and dark attribute the first in Ohmaze you have been awarded: +10 Light attribute +10 Dark attribute.

I was expecting to get stats but affinities are probably better heck I even got 10 in both light and dark. Feeling pleased with myself I decided to try and continue my experiments but no matter what I did, when I tried to infuse the shade torch nothing would happen. On the plus side I managed to raise my infusion skill.

Deciding to give up and return to the mana shrooms I ended up meditating for 30 minutes to fully restore my mana since I had about 40% when I finished trying to experiment. I put everything away except the 100 mana mushrooms growing all throughout the room. I spent the next 10 minutes infusing the shrooms with mana, gathering a new 100 mana shrooms and using up all of my mana reserves. As I devoured them Shade asked me how I was doing and I told him that I was feeling great since I just earned some stats, when he asked me how I earned them I told him to double my rewards for the quest then I'd spill. He went quiet after muttering something to me I didn’t understand.

Once I ate all of the mana shrooms gaining 5000 more max mana I meditated for 40 minutes, then repeated infusing the mana shrooms. After practically inhaling the shrooms almost literally, I gained another 5000 max mana. I spent 10 minutes meditating recovering mana up to 55% of my mana, once I had that I infused the remaining mana into the mana shrooms I planted the new 100 around the room with the others. When I took a step back... float back I looked at the room and notice it was starting to look like a mini mushroom kingdom. I was really glad it looked cool but I drifted down to my rest spot and sat pleasantly meditating for about 50 minutes.

As soon as I'd finished meditating I ended up falling into a rhythm, since I had a lot of spare mana I put my mana barrier up around myself and just left it on since it only used 1/4 of my regen rate. I infused and ate 200 mushrooms every hour for the next 6 hours before I started getting tired from the repetition. I'm honestly amased that it took me that long to get sick of the repetition. Aside from gaining another 60,000 mana and being able to produce the shrooms every 15 minutes now, during the farming I had my barrier up the whole time, improving it by 2 levels. Even though I could now  have 16 barriers up without losing mana any more that 2 and the mental strain would build to fast with the constant infusing. I also raised my infusion twice as well, along with meditation once. I had spent a total of 10 hours up to day only 6 of them was farming the shrooms now. I was close to improving my mana to 100,000 but I didn’t want too just yet.

I spent the next 2 hours farming for the mushrooms and since I could recover enough mana to split them every 15 minutes if I meditated, I did just that. I had gathered 1600 mana shrooms during the 2 hours I had not ate them and since unlike earlier when I was only farming once an hour I managed to gain 4 times normal, my meditation and infusion went up as well because I didn’t take a rest either. I put 600 of them into my inventory and decided that it was for the best it I use the rest for AEXP since it’s only going to get harder to get it, at least while I have a deal with Shade. Since I used them for AEXP instead of mana I gained 200,000, which still wasn’t enough to improve my health or mana regen rates.

I don't know why but I decided to put as much of that into my LUC as possible. Maybe it was a hunch but I feel like it's going to be more important later than right now. I was also only 100 AEXP from raising it to the next level, so I ended up eating one of my reserved mana shrooms. In total I raised my LUC 7 Stat points with 20,300 AEXP. I was getting tired since I spent the whole day farming. Just before I was about to lay down for the night I took out 400 of the mushrooms and raised my man to 100,000.
