Chapter 16: Day 80

Author's Notes

I intended for this chapter to be out 2 days ago.

I’ve been busy for most of this week and hardly had time to write this chapter. Due to this I haven’t had the chance to finish writing this chapter for a couple of days.

Only 4 more chapters left for this story arc by the way.

Hope you guys enjoy it.

It’s been 20 days since the adventurers left, and it’s been pretty bland here. The main reason is that because the adventurers left earlier than they were planning all of the usual monsters that explore Shade haven’t came back yet, none of them would risk being near adventurers. Because of this I've mainly been spending my time training with the zombies that Shade creates, and playing with Rune, Falz and Vari. I usually end up playing essentially pong with Falz most of the time.

Rune and Vari are almost at each other's throats daily, while Falz spends most of his time trying to create his own spells. Rune and Vari haven’t been doing much besides playing around and improving the mana martial arts that Rune created, it’s actually got kind of impressive. Falz though, he has been training against the zombies with me occasionally and has raised his level to 11. I managed to raise my level to 18 since I spent a lot more time training compared to Falz. Aside from training Falz has even managed to create a spell of his own. By channelling dark affinity mana through the entirety of his being and forcing it to take a form around him he managed to create this strange spell. Thanks to Eidolons Mind I even learned the spell which wasn’t exactly like it appeared.

Dark Id FormBeginner1 This spell was created by a Skeleton mage trying to create his own magic. Although similar to a forbidden spell called Darkness Embodiment, this spell was purely created with the users mana and has no connection to corruption.

This spell creates a form based on their id and Dark mana, creating a second body surrounding them. The function of this spell is to use mana to greatly boost physical capabilities as well as reduce physical and magical damage done to the user. Form will differ from user to user and will have different strengths and weaknesses then each user. For example some would be stronger than most while others faster.

Weak minds can fall victim to their ids desires. Transformations can cause damage to the user.

Mana Cost: 500 per min

It’s a pretty cool spell that Falz created, I was surprised when he created it. I was playing a game of tag with Vari and Rune while Falz was experimenting, when I heard falz laughing, when I looked over he started screaming and was being enveloped by his own mana. I dropped the game I was playing and was about to rush over to Falz when I heard him shout stop. His transformation finished, he was ecstatically telling us about the spell. As his form settled Eidolons Mind prompted but I was busy being captivated by his new from.

When He’s using Dark Id Form he’s 7ft instead of 5ft and looks like he’s built for fighting hand to hand. His bones are covered from head to toe in blueish black muscles, nearly seamlessly at that. His head has purple eyes and bluish skin like metal covering his skull, exposed are his teeth covered is a thin layer of the same material. His torso is a thick human esque body with the same strange material covering his upper half like a ribcage. His arms and legs are large and ripped with muscle, shoulders are huge and coated in the same metal with his arms almost as thick reaching below his waist. His right hand has a similar shape to a gauntlet with an opening only exposing his flesh covered hand and 5 claws at the end of each finger. His right on the other hand is quite literally a flesh and bone sword coated in the same strange metal. Both his legs are large and have lizard like toes protruding at the base, these toes all have similar claws to his hand.

Needless to say I was impressed but was concerned since a single use nearly killed him. After that I forced him to train with me and the now teach/practice a few new spells I created with him. I created an elemental bolt spells when creating a fire and water bolt. The elemental bolt deleted my wind bolt and took all of the experience wind bolt got for itself, it even took away corrosion bolt but it left lesser light heal.

It wasn’t the only spell I changed, Create Entity got a few new additions after experimenting a bit. Well first of all I managed to learn to create zombies after I defeated a few of them but that's not all. Since I could create a few monsters by combining the together and with Eidolons Craft I began experimenting with some ideas that Falz suggested along with my own.

I went with my ideas first since there was less that Falz’ ideas. I started by taking and planting a mana shroom into what I've started calling the test room. It was the room I fought my first goblin in. After planting the mana shroom I started by using Eidolons Craft with Create Entity on the mana shroom. It wasn’t much but I started to imbue wisps into the mushroom, it was an odd sight to see wisps getting created and destroyed all for a mushroom but it was oddly beautiful. After 30 minutes I was finished and had watched as the shroom grew to about 3 ft and became a pale blue. It had grown arms and legs and no longer attached to the floor, it had black beady eyes and a mouth half as wide as its body. It also stopped glowing. I was pleasantly surprised when I observed it.

Mush-Man level 8 Mush-men are some of the weakest creatures that roam Ohmaze and tend to be prayed upon. Although  they are normally weak that is only because they rarely fight or level up, most mush-men never make it past level 2. There has been records of mush-men  reaching level 500.

This mush-man was created by a wisp’s experiment due to this experiment and creators high Wis this mush-man has exceptionally high health and mana regeneration. This mush-man can develop an identity in time.

It was exactly what I was looking for but I couldn’t finish it there, I still had other ideas. After 2 whole days I finished all of my ideas and not a single one of them worked, however 3 of Falz ideas worked perfectly.

His first idea was to use Eidolons Craft to infuse the same type of monster onto itself. I tried his idea by infusing skeletons into a skeleton, it was almost as cool to make as the mush-man. I did the same with all of my creations but aside from the skeleton and skeleton mage it didn’t work. The creations were something better than expected as well.

Greater Skeleton level 12 Was created by a wisp. Due to creators Wis this greater skeleton is resistant to magic. This greater skeleton can develop an identity in time.

Lesser Lich level 10 Was created by a wisp. Due to creators Wis this lesser lich has the ability to use Create Undead. This lesser lich can develop an identity in time.

His second idea was to attempt infusing passive abilities into some of the monsters. Funnily enough none of it worked except for the Passive ability Advance of the Drudge. It also only worked on the skeletons, the very monster I got the skill from in the first place. The skeleton didn’t change much but its bones seemed to get slightly thicker.

Skeletal Drudge level 5 Was created by a wisp. Due to creators Wis this skeletal drudge has increased resistances. This skeletal drudge can develop an identity in time.

It’s essentially a stronger skeleton but it's not that much better. The third idea Falz had didn’t exactly add anything to Create Entity, but it did increase what I could do with it. His idea was to try and mix Eidolon’s Craft in when creating an entity. It worked to an extent and I can now create a single monster with a weaker version of any skill I have.

Shade told me that today is the first day that monsters will return, since they know the adventurers will no longer be here. I was a little eager since it’s boring just to fight zombies, plus I can’t really train anything else that much at this point. The only skill I want to train is the one that Falz created but since I'm a wisp I can’t use it since I lack a solid form. Oh well I'll just have to use it once I evolve.

I start to float about the dungeon a little earlier than normal saying hi to  Rune and Vari as I pass. Falz decided to stay in my room and practice controlling his Dark Id Form. As I was talking to Rune I asked what he plans to do today and apparently he’s found that he can use his mana to train his body and spirit so he’s going to spend the day training with his new method. I asked him to show me what he meant and was a little disappointed when Eidolons Mind didn’t prompt, which was to be expected since it's a method of mana manipulation instead of a spell. Essentially he’s using his mana to compress the atmospheric mana around him to put pressure on him as if he’s underwater at around 50 depth. Apparently he could have only used this method for 20 minutes at most when he first made it, now however he can maintain it for just over an hour. Vari has also taken up the same method but since she already has higher mana and mana regen she can keep it up almost indefinitely.

I said bye to them and drifted to the front of the dungeon where the first monsters started to come in. Since I  got bored fighting the zombies with my spells I started to use my mana barrier and just ram into them, I am planing  to do the same thing with these monsters until I can’t defeat them this way. If it ever gets to that point. Its also a great way to test how strong and fast I am since my STR affects my impacts with the barrier.

The first monsters to come in were some level 3-4 goblins, I left them as they were. The next monsters to come in were the same goblins half an hour later, it’s obvious they died to some basic skeletons since I heard them saying things like fucking skeletons... Wait it just dawned on me that I shouldn’t know their language, and as soon as I have that thought a window pops up.

Due to circumstances the skill Linguistics has been affected.By listening to Goblins with high enough intellect and wisdom the goblin language(Gob) has been added to known languages for linguistics.

Well that's cool, not really that useful for me at least for now. I wait about another 20 minutes before new monsters show up. This time it's Kobolds and I start to listen to them but I barely get some words from the way they speak before they get destroyed by some skeletons.

I head back the the entrance and wait again for more monsters that would be at least a little fun to fight. Not long after I get there I see a familiar merrow followed by a 3 more what caught my attention was that all of them were around level 10. It was Dargeon although he was only level 9 but he was leading the other merrow. I followed them for about 10 minutes staying hidden, god I love Nonexistence I don’t even have to try to hide. After their 3rd fight against skeletons they were starting to make progress in Shade when one of them started to talk.

(Merrow 1): “This is stupid, Dargeon. This wisp of yours wouldn’t care to show. I bet you made it up.”

(Dargeon): “It will show at some point. Be patient Okel.”

(Merrow 2): “I have to agree with Okel here, there's no guarantee we’d even be able to find him.”

Deciding to show myself I float couple feet in front of them and start to talk, startling them for a moment.

(Dark): “Hello again Dargeon.”

(Okel): “Ok maybe you're right Dargeon, he does exist.”

(Dark): “I’m female.”

Dargeon is smiling and the 3rd silent merrow is doing nothing but nodding at him. The other 2 merrow are shocked still staring at me.

(Dark): “So why are you guys looking for me?”

(Merrow 3): “I’m the shaman of our village called Jhamak and when Dargeon told us about an intelligent wisp most of us didn’t believe him. When he told me I encouraged him to prove himself and lead me to you.”

(Dark): “May I ask why?”

(Jhamak): “I’d like to ask see how strong you are and make a deal with you if you are as strong as Dargeon suggests. Which is why we brought Okel and Guarve to test you.”

QuestDefeat The merrow Okel and Guarve in a fair fight and prove yourself strong.

(Dark): “Thats fine with me. Just start whenever you guys are ready.”

After a few seconds of preparing themselves Okel charged at me and started to swing the iron sword in his hand almost blindly. Guarve was sitting back and clearly charging a spell. I continually avoided Okel without attacking and waited for Guarve to fire use his attack. As soon as he did Okel jumped out of the way only to be slammed back into Guarves mana blasts path by a mana barrier. Okel was heavily injured, covering myself with a mana barrier I flew threw him and into Guarve. Okel was vanishing as Guarve tried to stand back up only to realise I crushed his leg when I ran into him. Before he started to scream in pain I use a mana blast of my own to send him out of the dungeon.

The Quest window popped up and told me I passed as Jhamak started to clap. When I drifted towards them I heard Dargeon repeatably saying I told you so.

(Jhamak): “That was surprisingly fast. I expected that fight to last longer, well no matter. I'd like to make a deal with you for the betterment of my clan. Until the end of your deal with this dungeon I'd like you to train the merrow of my village.”

(Dark): “I’ve only got 10 days left on the deal with the dungeon, would that be fine with you?”

(Jhamak): “As long as it can improve my merrows, I'm happy.”

QuestFight the merrow that come to the dungeon as often as you can. Teach the merrow as you fight them so that they can fight more efficiently. Repeat daily until your deal with the Shade dungeon is complete.

As you will be training the merrow instead of defending the dungeon all exp you would gain from defeating a merrow will go to the defeated merrow. All merrow defeated by you will have no time penalty to enter the dungeon.

I accepted the quest and told them that they can start to send the merrow to come to the dungeon as quick as they would like. Saying bye to Dargeon and Jhamak I went and told Rune, Falz and Vari about my new deal, to which they wished me good luck.

I floated away towards the entrance when the first merrow group showed up. I started to train them to make them aware of their environment and to make them work together. I spent the whole day teaching groups upon groups of merrow how to work together only to be slaughtered by me ramming into them. Overall I think I slaughtered over 200 merrow throughout the day. And noticed that by the end of the day they had all reached at least level 10, most of which started at level 7. A couple of times throughout the day Dargeon would sit down and talk with me, he’s a friendly guy and even though he’s a shaman apprentice he doesn’t like the rituals they practice. After ‘training’ him a few dozen times he’s now level 14 and he’s the most cautious of his environments. I'd like to believe it’s from my training but it's mostly because of the times he died to shade glass.

By the end of the day it was clear that the merrow were making progress but since I'm a wisp I can’t fight the same as them so they are only making progress fighting magic users.

When everyone left the dungeon for the day I started to celebrate a little since I haven’t had a moment's rest for almost the whole day. I drifted back to my room saying goodnight to Vari and Rune as I pass and the same to Falz as I enter the room, barely registering he’s in his Dark Id Form.

I let my exhaustion take me as I eagerly wait and dread tomorrow.
