Author's Notes
Sorry about the chapter taking over a week to put up. I've been busy with preparations for university and taking care of family matters. I also have been having issues with my internet since the 7th.
Sorry about the delay dudes.
Also TheRedScythe and Source it's not the apocalypse, just a natural disasterlevel called “LazyAuthorWithValidExcuse...SortOff”

It’s been 5 days since I started to train the merrow most of them have been making steady improvements with the way that they fight as well as the average level of the merrow has risen to 26 because of this. I've managed to get them to fight together much better from here.
Ive also started to train Falz, Rune and Vari as well but I've been training them to fight the mush-men I create along side the Greater skeletons. Falz is now level 19, while Vari is now 22 and Rune just managed to get to 20 yesterday. Vari didn’t evolve since her race is stronger than most skeletal monsters. Shade said that she’d most likely evolve at 30 or 40. Rune on the other hand evolved as soon as he became level 20. Rune evolved into a race called a Skeletal Mystic due to the way he uses his mana. He looks mostly the same but on closer inspection his bones are now a white metal, making him almost twice as strong as before.
I've stopped personally training all of the of the merrow and have only been personally training a few quick learners. Dargeon, Okel, Guarve and 2 other merrow are the only ones I've decided to train personally since they showed talent or intellect when I was training them. I've been having them train with Rune, Vari and Falz as well since I made a little discovery about this mission. If I kill the merrow they get all the experience instead of me, but if any of my creations kill the merrow both of them gain the experience. Thanks to this little exploit Rune is now level 26, Falz is 24 and Vair is 26.
After reaching level 20 Falz evolved into a profound skeleton mage so he improves slower than Rune and Vari but gains twice as much per level now just like me. The only reason he’s level 24 is because he's been killing most of the merrow during the training since he’s been using this to train his Dark Id Form. he can quickly change is it no longer causes him pain during the shifting.
All the merrow that I'm not personally training are having to fight my Mush-men which has been very hard for them surprisingly. I created 10 Mush-men per merrow each day and told them that if they could beat 10 each they will join the others in personal training. Okel and Guarve and one of the other merrow were the only ones with any real talent in fighting, Dargeon and another merrow earned their way into the personal training buy patiently observing the Mush-men and defeating them as safely as possible unlike the rest of the merrow. Also training the merrow this way with the Mush-men is what showed me the exploit for training them since a lot of the merrow kept dieing to the Mush-men.
3 days into the training one of the mush-men developed a personality and started to organise and command the Mush-men to fight more efficiently. The average level of the Mush-men rose to 15 and seemed to fight on par with the merrow after the Mush-man commander came about. Only one Mush-man died since the as well. Thanks to the Mush-man commander the remaining mush-men started to train with the merrow and they all became far better at working with each other or against each other. Shade asked me if he could have some Mush-men and I jokingly told him if he could get me a shade glass weapon. I ended up giving him 10 Mush-men since he gave me a rather cool looking black blade made out of shade glass.
Shade Glass BladeThis ragged broadsword is comprised of tempered shade glass and has the natural qualities to repair itself when in shadows. The blade is as strong as steel and as sharp as obsidian. Aside for having a smooth hilt and handguard this weapon is extremely dangerous to handle. Capable of harming ghosts.
I was surprised about the quality of the weapon and thanks Shade even though I couldn’t use it for now and have a much cooler weapon in my inventory. A the end of the 5 days training I gave Dargeon the Shade Glass blade on a whim, only to watch his face contort into mild annoyance. Okel burst out laughing when he found out it's made completely of shade glass. Rune asked why Okel was laughing and as I was about to speak Guarve told the stories about how Dargeon died repeatedly to shade glass whenever he was in this dungeon, apparently it happens a lot of times to him before I met him as well. While everyone was laughing and not paying attention I noticed the smile on Dargeons face when looking at his new weapon.
On the 6th day another merrow made it through the Mush-men and joined the personal training. This time it was a female merrow and she seemed to be a mage since unlike the rest of the merrow that got through so far she doesn’t have a weapon. Guarve told me that both him and her are mages but he’s only a basic mage while she is a true mage since so practices different spells.
Curiously I asked her to demonstrate her magic and found out that she can use water, air and arcane magic but she didn’t have any spells I already have. Training was rather bland on the 6th day but that was to be expected since none of the merrow seem to hold a candle to Rune, Vari and Falz when it comes to power.
The 7th, 8th and 9th day passed the exact saw way with Rune, Vari and Falz decimating the training merrow and the Mush-men preventing the rest from progressing in the slightest. Dargeon has been using his new blade as his main weapon now and has show to have some talent with the broadsword, shame that talent is of a toddler with a stick. At least he’s trying.
The only notable things that happened during this day was that the mage merrow and me trained her control of her magic by playing pong with a wind ball and mana barriers until she could create and control 3 barriers at a time independently. The other interesting thing that happened was that Rune has been cultivating his mana at night instead of resting, as a result he has more mana that Vari but still less than Falz. he’s also learned that doing so has strengthened his body slightly.
The 10th and last day of the training and my deal with shade was different since I decided to have a little bit of a battle royale situation with all of the merrow with me being there only target. All of the merrow showed up and came charging at me, trying to take me down as quick as they could. All of them were blown back when I blew them all away with a couple wind bolts. Nobody was hurt, but that was going to change soon. As they were getting to their feet as fast as they could I flew to the center of them and struck all of them with lighting with me at the epicenter. 90% of the merrow vanished into light as they died but a few were only heavily injured.
Only 3 merrow survived; the mage merrow, Gurarve and a one of the merrow that stained with them. They only survived because the mage protected, or tried to protect them the the mana barriers. Moving swiftly Guarve tried to slice me only to have his head and sword arm cleanly sliced off by a Flash Blade. Before his blood could sputter out his body he vanished in a wave of light. The mage girl was firing 3 mana bolts at a time at me to give time for the other merrow to get close. I spent a minute dodging them until the mage collapsed from using too much mana to fast. I killed them both with one swing of an extra long Flash Blade.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
The second attempt at me they were more cautious this time around, The mages started to fire mana bolts an elemental bolts at me in hopes of giving the warriors time to get close to me. In response I summoned a few elementals of the 4 basic elements and watched as they got torn apart by my creations, sometimes literally. At the same time elementals were getting torn apart by the merrows that didn’t fall into a panic. When my final elemental was destroyed only 6 merrow remained. Dargeon was leading them and when it was only me and them he gave them a few commands I couldn’t heard which the immediately followed. Mana barriers were created around me to prevent me from attacking without attacking myself, the 3 mages still alive were clearly focusing on the barriers and letting the warriors get close just as Dargeon was about to hit the barrier with his sword a mage released her barrier and I put up my own. Dargeon was pushed back and as I released my barrier I fired a lightning bolt and crushed 2 of the mages in one strike. As the mages fell one of the merrow attacked me while the others were still in shock. I got struck by the side and fell almost to the ground because of the hit. It didn’t do much damage but it hurt like hell. I took them out with some mana bolts fst after that.
The 3rd, 4th and 5th attempts didn’t fair any differently from the second attempt, although I did change tactics to make them think how to defeat me.
On the 3rd attempt I flew into people covered in a mana barrier killing them that way, only Okel managed to him me during this attempt but that was only because the mage merrow temporarily stopped me with her own mana barrier.
The 4th attempt I only attacked them with elemental bolts which was interesting since a few maged managed to counteract some of them with their own bolts. I only got hurt during this attempt because Dargeon tripped as he was trying to stop a merrow from running away. His blade managed to slice me and do just over 100 damage which is the most I've took to date. Unfortunately he fell on the sharp end of a piece of shade glass just as I killed everyone with a barrage of elemental bolts.
The 5th attempt nobody even got close tome since I summoned a greater skeleton for each of them.
The 6th attempt was their last attempt and the last act of me being there trainer. Before I could even decide how I'd defeat them all of the merrow came quietly charging in as the mages tried to sneak around me. The merrow were doing there best to avoid my attacks, while he mages would fire of lots of mana bolts at me once I avoided the Guarve was underneath me and slicing at me with his sword. I got struck as I exposed his brain with a quick Flash Blade. A few merrow were getting to close for comfort so I struck the with Arcane Pulse. I killed 10 merrow in that one move only to be struck with a dark bolt. It hurt like hell and I even squealed for a moment before I launched myself through a few merrow, killing Okel without even realising it. I managed to launch a few corrosion bolts and lightning bolts at the remaining merrow before they started to move. Killing most of them I was struck from behind, with and arcane bolt from the mage merrow. I summoned 5 skeleton mages to fight her as I flew and killed the remaining merrow with a mana blast. As I turned to see the mage merrow as she died, there was only one skeleton mage left and it was badly damaged.
10 minutes later Dargeon, Okel and Guarve came to talk. Dargeon was smiling Okel seemed pissed and Guarve seems indifferent.
(Okel): “Listen up Dark. I don’t appreciate being killed so fast by you and....”
(Guarve): “Shut up Okel. everyone was killed fast.”
(Dargeon): “Ignore that for now. Anyway for training us I've been tasked with giving this to you and saying thank you for training us. It will allow you and your allies entry to our town, just show it to a guard as you go in.”
Dargeon handed me a shite scale with Melgas written on it.
“Permission to the Sacred Merrow town of Jacmal for owner of this scale and allies.”
As I was looking at the scale I smiled to myself and put it in my inventory and thanking Dargeon for it. We talked for a bit and enjoyed ourselves when Okel suddenly jumped up and shouted that he wants to leave before Jhamak gets pissed at the for being away too long. I said goodbye to them and started to train on my own again. I spent 3 hours training myself while Rune, Vari and Falz rested since I've been making them train almost non-stop since I found the exploit. As I was making my way back to my room a notification popped up.
Quest CompletedYou have trained the merrow for as long as you have been tasked with. Once Dargeon informed Jhamak about delivering the scale the quest was deemed complete.

I smiled as I looked at the window, once I closed it I opened my stats and smiled since I was now 1 level away from evolving according to Shade. I looked at my new AEXP and though that I should improve my max health so I ended up spending all my 168,200 AEXP on it. When my health broke through the 10,000 I had hopes that it would be the same as when I raised my mana past the same amount, I guess not. I was so close to evolving I wonder what all become.
