(Dark): “Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck! FUUUUCK!!!”
Letting out my panic as soon as I returned to my birth room I was still mad at what I saw. I decided to follow the skeleton but couldn’t keep up and as I was following I noticed that there was almost nothing here aside from some torches on the walls spread out at different rates in almost each hall that a trailed the skeleton down. What I found strange was that the flames on the torches seemed to be eerily similar to what I looked like. I used observe on them just out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised.
Shadow TorchThe most common lighting found in Shade dungeons. These lights have similar flames to that as the common wisp and is normally used by weak wisps to hide.
AEXP: 20-40
Seems since I have observe I can now see the info about AEXP, but that takes a back seat to what the description said. Anyway as I was following the skeleton it walked towards a fight and what I saw was some skeletons fighting what I can only assume are Merrows. The skeletons were being destroyed quite fast and I started to get worried since I observed them.
MerrowLevel 7Merrows are the sea folk from the world of Folous and are a race of sentient monsters. They would be classed as a civilisation if they didn’t frequently attack other races for fun and ritual sacrifice. These are the species of fish folk that inspired the Deep ones in earth's fictions when a small settlement was transported there for a god's amusement.
AEXP: level*50
I was a little taken aback since they looked just like the deep ones from the stories I’ve read. The only difference was that each of them looked too have some vibrant colour streaked down their backs. They were also only about 4 feet tall as each skeleton was taller than them. I found a shadow torch nearby on my left and hid in it so I won’t get attacked and so that I can gather some information about these creatures.
About half way through the fight with the skeletons it was obvious that they were going to win since they were decimating each skeleton that attacked them, caving in their skulls, smashing their bones and using some of the skeletons to destroy the remaining. I counted the Merrow and the remaining skeletons as they seemed to be either getting tired trying to catch their breath or re-attacking limbs. There are a total of 4 merrow and 6 skeletons remaining.
Suddenly one of the merrow charged forward and one of the skeletons threw itself in front of the merrow being destroyed just as it managed to slice through the beast's arm causing blue blood to sputter everyware as bone and sinew came ripped of with blunt blade reaching high as skeleton became a pile of bones. As the merrow screamed in pain and closed its eyes reflectively a few of the remaining skeletons charged it. None of the remaining merrows moved but I could see the shock and fear in them as their ally was torn limb from limb.
The skeletons were ripping the merrow’s muscles from its bones at the same time you could see its guts exposed as a skeleton was ripping through its gut pulling its organs out one at a time when they were done they stood back with the other skeletons almost motionless covered in blue blood, some even still holding the merrows organs it pulled out.
The merrow still seemed to be alive as it was twitching and still trying to scream it was a husk of its former self. Muscle ripped from its arms and legs held onto the bones by a stand of tendon, organs lecking from its gut with a clear view of its barely beating heart and working lungs, some of its skull was exposed as the fins on its back was ripped off and is now a skeletons makeshift weapon. The merrow collapsed as its body fell forward and as the same time the whole thing blood and organs not help and stuck to a skeleton suddenly vanished.
At this the other merrow started to slaughter the skeletons with only one of them getting injured afterwards. Soon they left and I was left panicking hidden in the shadow torch when I gathered most of my senses I fled, floating as fast as I could back to the room and screaming fuck repeatedly when I got back. I ended up waiting a few minutes calming down and realised that I have no way to protect myself. So I did the one thing I could..
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
(Dark): “Shade I don’t know how to protect myself can you help.”
Waiting a couple of seconds felt too long since I was still shaken up. Soon he spoke to me and told me something I completely overlooked and could be my only hope for now.
(Shade): “Your a wisp little Darkness you should have wisp arts which comes with mana manipulation. I don’t think I can help in any other regards. And until you gain some basic defence or attack skill it’s ill advised to leave this room again. I thought you’d have some skill since you're from another world am I wrong?”
(Dark): “Well, you're not wrong but the only skills I’d be able to know from my world sort of requires me to have a humanoid body. And we didn’t have mana in my world, at least I don’t think so.”
(Shade): “Strange… well anyway learn to defend yourself as quickly as possible.”
I didn’t feel like I needed to know anything else nor say anything else.
I feel like an idiot forgetting that I have mana manipulation or even mana at that. I probably forgot since the only VR games I played were physical or technological based, heck [Unparalleled Dungeons] was going to be the first true fantasy VR game I’d play.
I focused on what I could about mana and came to the conclusion I needed to ‘feel’ the energy. This took my about 5 solid minutes just so I could know it’s there. And as soon as I could I tried to make a small ball of mana in front of me it was roughly half my size and it was hard just to hold it there. Letting it go caused all the mana to expand and float in the air for a second before vanishing. I looked at my mana pool and noticed it only cost me 5 mana. I tried again and this time it felt easier and I decided to try and ‘throw’ it forward. It zoomed forward about twice as fast as I can move for now before hitting the wall and exploding slightly. Suddenly a window popped up making my non-existent lips curve into a smile.
Mana BoltBasic mana bolt every being that can manipulate mana will almost always start with this skill once they grasp the basics of mana manipulation. This skill shoots a ball of mana at a target which will be stronger the higher the users INT stat is.
Mana cost: 5
With this I couldn’t help but ask Shade for help since I don’t think i’m strong enough. It took a little bit of time but I convinced him to send 1 skeleton to help me get strong enough to defend myself.
Once the skeleton was here I asked Shade if he could tell me its health before and after I hit it with my mana bolt. Before it had 250 health after I hit it with my only attack its health went down to 230. I scanned it before and after to see if anything changed but it didn’t other than it now said AXP: level* 30, but that was on both checks. This more or less confirmed that my observe simply isn’t strong enough.
After killing the skeleton I was surprised I had leveled up but it wasn’t the way I was expecting it to happen.
Congratulations you have level upAs a Profound Wisp you will gain 2 times the normal growth rate of a WispYou have gained:
+2 AGI
+4 INT
+6 WIS
+2 LUC
+100 Health
+200 Mana
Due to special skill you gained:
+1000 AEXP
I was a little taken aback by what just happened and surprised that I leveled up from one skeleton. Now that I think about it the skeleton was 5 levels higher than me and I’m a typically weak monster. But this is just surprising I didn’t expect to gain levels like this I expected to get 5 stat points to distribute not this blessing. Thinking that I should check my stats after that I opened up the menu and realised that my stats are actually still pretty weak but that will change in time. With this I consumed the corpse of the skeleton gaining 150 AEXP. Looking at my stats I think about what I’ll start doing while I’m inside Shade… That felt wrong to say.
