The Quotidian Timeline

3:40 am, September 9th – St Thomas’ Hospital, Westminster Bridge Road, London

Finch sat on his bed. Kate returned just as three men barged in.

“Have you seen Aria Kent?” asked one man.

Kate placed her hand on her chest. “No, but I would have loved -”

“-She must be close. You check the downstairs lobby; you go east and we go west. Always have someone in here.”

Kate and Finch shared an alarmed look.

“You know something,” said the other man.

“No! No! Of course not. Believe me, I would have fainted if Aria Kent walked in here,” said Kate.

The man asked to see her smart phone.

“What? No! It’s private,” she said.

He held out his hand.

“Your scare tactics won’t work with me. You have no right to ask for my phone,” said Kate.

He took out his own smartphone. Kate’s eyes grew wide.

“How did you tap into my phone?” she said, seeing her photo gallery on the man’s phone.

“Where is she?” he said.

“Don’t tell him please, they don’t understand,” said Finch, breaking into a cough.

“What will happen to her?” asked Kate.

“She is mentally unwell,” he said.

“She didn’t seem mentally unwell,” she said.

“She’s not!” said Finch, attempting to shout.

“Where is she? Or we will arrest you for collusion,” said the man.

Kate glanced at Finch. Then, facing the man, she said, “all I have done is to be a fan.”

“Please don’t! You don’t understand!” said Finch, bursting into tears.

“I don’t understand what, my dear?” she asked.

“I can’t explain, but it’s not what you think!”

Kate pointed to where Ava was hiding.

“Please!” said Finch as he pulled out his intravenous needles. Heading weakly into the corridor.

Another nurse rushed towards him.

But as his body disintegrated, she gasped.
