Chapter 34: Trailing

Chapter 34: Trailing

Machia Veil Timeline

11:15 am, August 31st – Binlochry, Scottishland

Through her binoculars, Ellis Warnock followed Nate and Kenya with a calm demeanour. Thanks to Clarice, they knew the teens would lead them to a portal. It was essential Nate and Kenya believed they were by themselves. She spied them taking the horses from the barn. Afterwards, she took a horse herself. She spied them admiring the eco-friendly house they stayed in before their horse-riding journey into the moors.

She kept her team informed every hour. Every time they made a stop, she dropped her military rucksack, which held her sleeping bag and tent. Once Nate and Kenya went to sleep, she set up camp. When dawn broke, another Arch took over. However, Ellis was determined to find the portal herself, so she often pushed herself with longer shifts. She wanted to outmanoeuvre the teens. After a few days, she understood they were nearing their destination, and Darcy Bruston joined her, bringing a camper van.

Twenty minutes later

Darcy drove into the location.

“Saviour! They’re headed north,” said Ellis. “Did you bring the trackers?”

“Right here,” said Darcy.

“Should be easy to attach overnight.”

“Or on the horses?” he asked.

“Not if they neigh. I tried.”
