Ch. 24 Home Run Across the Kingdom

While the team landed, Chloe tapped the horse retrieving her armor off it. Then, thanks to the boost given by her gear, she managed to drag herself out out from underneath. Unfortunately, by the time she managed to do that, the princess was already surrounded.

“Phew, that was fun,” Chloe gave a radiant smile.

“My. Book,” Alastar hissed.

“Ooh, sure, sure.” The girl's amulet glowed and everyone’s stuff was returned. Seth inspected his sword while Eligos hugged his trident. “Well, this horse is dead and I’ve killed the other one back at the carriage. So, how’re you going to carry me further?”

“In pieces,” smirked Seth while slowly floating the sword towards her neck.

“Great, I’m sure my mom would love that.” She rolled her eyes and Seth unwitingly flinched.

“Look," said the princess. "I know we've started on a bad foot, but I have a condition. I just can’t help stealing s**t," she shrugged. "It's probably due to papa’s genes, but I’m sure that if you take me to the dragon safely, I’ll be all cured. So, what do you say?”

Surprisingly, Seth didn’t believe her lies. Chloe hadn’t said the magic word “quest,” so she could only suffer the consequences.

“Are these your last words?” asked the pixie. There were plenty of ways to make her suffer without leaving a mark, and Seth was a creative man.

Suddenly, the ground rumbled. Momo grinned.

“So, this is what level three looks like,” he mumbled.

“What did you say?” asked Seth.

“Nothing.” The squirrel was looking behind them. Across the plain, rising from the horizon, a pile of rocks and anger was striding towards them.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

“Theere youuu arreee!” the giant rock monster bellowed. While everyone covered their ears, he jumped.

“Where the hell did it go?” asked Alastar.

A second later, dust rose 20 feet into the air. The ground shook like a bomb had exploded as two giant legs dropped from the sky.

“Howw daare youuu buullyyy myy nieecee!” shouted the monster so loud the group could do nothing but clutch their ears.

“We haven’t touched any rock monsters!” shouted Alastar. In comparison, his voice was less than a whisper.

“Liess!” the creature clenched its rocky fist. “Youu bullieddd Yuuukkiiii!” he shouted while taking a step back.

Unfortunately, the only reason he did that was to better swing his punch. Seeing the upcoming uppercut, Alastar placed his hand on Seth’s shoulder and sent him all of his mana.

“Seth, cover us in a wind bubble or we’re f**ked.”

The giant rock monster swung. His fist dug six feet into the ground, rose towards the party’s position and sent them flying into the stratosphere.

“K… OOoo!” shouted the giant.

Across the country, in Blueberry Grove, Bratley was enjoying his nap. Ever since he got imprisoned, the dragon became quite fond of his siestas.

“aaaa…” His ears started twitching due to some distant noise.

“Aaaaa…” The sounds were getting louder and closer.

“AAAAAHHH!”

Suddenly, an oversized baseball smacked into his head.

“No playing in my forest!” shouted the sleepy dragon. “Huh?” He shook his head and took a second look at the group which came out of the ball. “You!”

“Sup?” waved Seth while plying his wings off the ground.

“Why are you here?”

“To fight.”

“No no,” said Alastar. “Great, majestic God of Darkness, we come to you with a request from the queen of the kingdom.”

“Who’s this guy?” asked Bratley.

“My map guy,” Seth shrugged. “He’s not very good at it, but he makes a decent Gandalf.”

“Didn’t you two hate each other?” Alastar whispered in the pixie’s ear.

“We do!” Both he and the dragon answered at the same time.

“Sheesh, lower your vocals,” complained Eligos. “We’ve gone through enough already.”

“Huh?” Bratley picked him up like a bug. “A devil?” he said with disgust in his voice.

“Eligos, commander of the legions of hell,” the red guy answered while straightening his back. “Now, put me down foul creature before I…”

With a flick of his fingers, Bratley sent him flying back towards the Devil’s Mountains.

“I’ll tell my brother about thisss…” were Eligos’ last words.

“I’m counting on it,” smirked the dragon.
