Once upon a time, on a planet called Earth, a boy was born by the name of Seth. This boy was not particularly bright. His grades were quite terrible.
However, where his skills in math and science failed, his talent for violence most definitely prevailed. Seth had joined a martial arts class at the young age of five and rose through the ranks faster than any before him. By the time he barely finished high school, the boy had three black belts from three different styles hung on his wall.
Since his grades were too abysmal for something like college, Seth joined the army gaining countless merits throughout his career. After retirement, he became a bodyguard; and, when he became too old for that too, he took on hunting and boxing on the side.
The youngsters at the gym were clearly going easy on him, but Seth didn’t care. He just wanted to punch people.
Unfortunately, his body gave in long before his spirit. Being stuck in a hospital room for the last two years of his life was horrible. His greatest regret became not ending it sooner.
But, death did eventually catch up to him, and the warrior closed his eyes for the final time. Or, so he thought…
Seth woke up in a strange room surrounded by purple, four legged creatures. They had long, lizard-like maws and a single arm-like limb with 10 winding fingers.
Unbeknownst to him, Seth had reincarnated as a Granin. It was a crappy existence at first, but fortunately, the aliens grew fast.
The purple boy learned to use his legs to run and his one arm to punch. As soon as he was eligible, he joined the Granin’s legions to aid in their great war against the Greltans. At the end of a long carrier of mowing down the green, three armed bastards, the old general finally died after falling down some stairs.
‘That was fun,’ he smiled while closing his eyes. To his surprise, they soon opened again. He now had green skin, protruding canines, and an angry mug.
The man was pleased. His career as a murderous orc was long and prosperous. He took over his tribe, conquered three kingdoms, and died on the battlefield.
‘Is this the end?’ he wondered. It was not.
Every time he died, the man reincarnated on another planet, inside another creature’s body, and would start all over again. Regardless of the world, there would be conflict, there would always be wars, and Seth would be right there to fight his heart out.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
After dying in a duel with a young swordsman, Seth woke up once more. He was now a tiny humanoid creature with wings and pointy ears.
Fortunately, he was already an adult during this reincarnation. After a young pixie got crushed by an acorn, the fighting maniac had taken over her body.
‘How did it heal?’ Seth wondered after going through the body’s memories. ‘Eh, who cares?’ He’d barely entered this world, and he already had an enemy.
‘Where is that bastard?’ he thought while looking for the enemy squirrel. Seth was inside a forest, the pixie tribe’s home.
‘There.’ Three trees to the left, his target was aiming for some nuts. Seth spread out his newfound wings and soared into the sky. Except, instead of going up or forward, his body plummeted to the ground.
“Ouch, why?” he grumbled. It wasn’t his first time flying, and it wasn’t like these wings were that much different from the standard. They looked like insect wings similar to the bug species he had joined during his fifth reincarnation.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
‘They’re so small,’ the boy scoffed. He wasn’t one for figuring things out, so he went into his memories for solutions. What he found there left his mouth agape.
‘…Magic?’ No other species or world he had visited thus far had anything even resembling magic. Yet, when according to his memories, he forced his will upon the wind, it moved accordingly. Moving its wings became almost unnecessary. Like Superman or Merlin on steroid, the pixie bolted towards his target.
“Say your prayers!” he shouted alerting the squirrel. Seth liked that. It wouldn’t have been his opponent otherwise. How this flying magic wielding creature got defeated by a squirrel was beyond his imagination.
Or course, he could’ve searched through his memories for the answer, but where was the fun in that? ‘Warriors must embrace the unknown,’ was one of his mottos.
“Die!” he shouted while swinging his fist. But then, the squirrel turned around and swung its tail.
Fist clashed with tail. Tail won! After flying through the leaves and smashing into a nearby branch, Seth was compelled to reassess his opponent. He finally deemed it worthy of going through his memories.
These squirrels couldn’t wield magic, but they were smart, extremely so, to the point where it was now showing him the tail. Its teeth were showing too while its tongue was sticking out.
‘Is it mocking me?’ Seth’s eyes went wide.
The squirrel jumped to a branch full of nuts and started throwing them at him. It was missing due to the distance, but the bastard did it anyway just to annoy him.
“You dare?” Going into his memory, Seth retrieved every bit of magic knowledge his body possessed. It seemed like pixies didn’t have their own source of mana. They instead used the ambient energy around them to take control of matter. Wind was their go to choice, but any other object was fair game.
‘Meaning…’ the pixie mumbled while catching a nut. “You’re dead!” After infusing mana into his projectile and arm, the warrior threw it like a bullet.
The squirrel ducked. A tiny branch behind it was blasted to pieces.
“I give up,” the enemy squeaked. Seth was in the middle of throwing another nut but was so shocked he dropped it.
“You can talk!?”
“Yes, I’m sorry!” the squirrel groveled. “I was just protecting myself.” Its head went so low Seth thought it would fall off the tree.
The warrior was used to enemies cowering before him, but this was definitely weird. ‘It’s magic,’ he nodded to himself. ‘I can’t apply other worlds’ logic to this one. But, either way…’
“You tried to kill me,” he declared. “Say your prayers!” he shouted while spinning the wind around him into a huge circular blade.
“Wait!” the animal squirmed. “I was just throwing acorns into my burrow. You flew in the way.” While covering its head with its tail, the squirrel started trembling. “I apologize,” it cried. “Please forgive me.”
Seth stopped his attack. Then, after a full minute stare-down, a brilliant idea came to him.
“Fine,” he shrugged. “I’m a fair Overlord. I will not banish you.”
“Thank you, My Lord.” ‘What the hell is he talking about? No matter. Just, play along.’
“But…” This one word shattered the squirrel’s dreams. “You still need to be punished for your deeds. And, I happen to be looking for a mighty steed. You follow?”
The squirrel tilted its head. It most definitely did not follow.
“Tell me, squirrel, can you fly?” Seth asked while placing his hands on his hips. If this was a fantasy world, then he would play the part.
“No,” the squirrel answered while shaking. “But, but, I can glide.” It extended its limbs revealing a membrane connecting its arms and its legs.
“Disappointing,” Seth declared while shaking his head. However, beggars couldn’t be choosers he realized. “So be it. From now on, you will be my loyal vassal. Your name shall be Elizabeth, and together, we will conquer the world!” The pixie shouted for the entire forest to hear.
“…Sir. Lord,” said the squirrel. “I’m actually a boy.” He held on to his fluffy tail out of nervousness. “My name is Momo.”
‘So chatty,’ thought Seth. He didn’t remember the magic steeds of legend being such complainers. The warrior flew towards his vassal landing right in front of him. Momo squirmed.
After looking around left and right, Seth sent a wind blade towards a nearby branch, cut the tip and made it float back to his hand.
“Bow, loyal servant.” The squirrel was already at his feet with his head beneath his tiny arms. “Oh, well… In the name of Overlord Seth (that’s me by the way), I name thee Moses, powerful steed of my Royal Highness.”
Seth tapped the stick on the squirrel’s shoulders, and then touched the tail too for good measure.
“Rise Moses, and serve me in battle.” Unfortunately, his Royal Steed was too scared to do so. “I said, rise!” shouted Seth while sending a gust of wind beneath its whiskers.
Momo’s head flew up almost toppling him over. Once he saw the angry pixie’s eyes, he froze in fright. Seth took his stare as a sign of bravery.
“Good,” he nodded. The warrior flapped his wings, spun around the squirrel and landed on his back.
“Onward, Moses! First, we conquer this forest and then the world!”
