Ch. 13 The Hero is an A-hole

South-west of Guyfast, about two miles away, the entrance to the Great Labyrinth attracted adventurers from far and wide. For the strong, it held the promise of riches and status. For those unprepared, it promised only death.

“Where the hell are we!?” the angry voice of Seth resounded on the third floor. Without a map or a guide, their group had been going around in circles for the past two days. They had long since run out of monsters to fight bringing the poor pixie to the edge of madness.

“Do we have any food left?” asked Momo while staring at his own tail with hungry eyes.

“Seth, I think we should go back,” Alastar advised. He had enjoyed gathering specimens up until now, but the lack of progress was getting to him too.

“Tsk, tsk. I have a better plan,” the pixie grinned while pulling out a mana chrystal. “You should’ve brought a map, map guy!” He started laughing like a crazy person imagining a giant hole where the labyrinth now stood. However, before he could suck out its mana, the chrystal turned gray on its own and disintegrated in his hand.

“Huh?”

“Sir, the chrystals within the ring… They’re gone.”

“What!?” Seth rushed towards Momo, tapped the ring, and forced out its contents. Instead of magical chrystals, the three almost drowned in a giant pile of gray dust.

“Impossible..." Alastar and Seth used their magic to sip through the debris. In the end, a few golden coins and a single piece of paper was all that remained.

“I forgot to mention,” Alastar started reading. “Dragon chrystals have an expiration date. So, sorry and good luck fighting Yuki. Signed: Bratley, Boss of Bosses.”

“That motherf**kerrr!”

Tired and angry, the three heroes went back and bought a map. The very next day, they were gathered in front of the labyrinth for round two.

“Map guy, do your job,” Seth ordered. “I have to let out some steam.”

Like a miniature typhoon of gravity, air, and lightning, the pixie tore through the labyrinth destroying everything in his path. Every spider they met was squashed. Goblins were eviscerated and adventurers zapped unconscious.

None could escape Seth’s wrath. And, with Alastar’s handywork and Momo’s cooperation, their dimensional ring was soon refilled with monster cores, gold, artifacts, underwear, and a whole bunch of weapons/armors of rare grade or below.

Only after 20 levels of mindless slaughter did the group meet its match.

“Finally, worthy opponents!” Seth laughed while charging at a group of scorpicores.

The pixie fought them for hours exchanging blow for blow. But, even with all his might, even with Alastar’s spells and Momo’s assistance, the monsters were simply too strong.

“Sir, we should retreat,” said Momo.

“Never!”

“Check out their shlongs,” pointed Alastar.

This made the pixie flinch, but he resolved himself and attacked from above.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he laughed while only looking at the monsters' heads.

Suddenly, a group of adventurers burst in taking everyone by surprise. Their warrior charged at Seth’s scorpicore waving his giant sword along with his beautiful blonde hair. The mage summoned a huge fireball that set one of the beasts ablaze, and their healer fixed everyone’s wounds even while the pixie was giving her the finger.

“Worry not, puny weaklings,” said the swordsman with a most sparkling smile. “Your Hero is here!”

“Scram,” said Seth while attacking another beast.

Soon, the battle was over. The scorpicores were dead. The adventurers cheered. The pixie was pissed.

“Good job, everyone!” The hero adjusted his curls. “Our team will carry on, but you, tiny pixie, should consider retreating. The labyrinth is dangerous for unsightly, feeble, insignificant, helpless, pecker sized creatures like you.”

Seth was so shocked he froze for a moment. His jaw almost reached the floor. Nonetheless, once his brain caught up with the insults, his teeth clenched as did his fists.

“You f...”

Alastar caught the pixie in midair and hid him under his robe.

“What he meant to say is thank you for your assistance, brave adventurers. May the Gods bless your journey.”

Only after they left did he release the magical restraints keeping Seth at bay.

“Any last words, Gandalf?” So many blood vessels were popping up on the pixie’s body that one would've thought he was shredded.

“They were over level 60,” Alastar said in his defense. “Without an external mana source or some backup, we wouldn’t have stood a chance.”

“You little… Wait. Level!?” Seth’s eyes opened wide.

“…Yes? You didn’t know?”

Just like that, the map guy’s murder was postponed at least until he finished his explanation.
