I sigh after reading. There is a lot to unpack here but every piece of information is either short or incomplete. Information such as this ‘Mother of magic’, I think she was talking about the Draconic princess, the blood of the Draconic king used as the foundation of the potion and the fact that I would have died from drinking this potion.
There is also this thing about an ‘undying body’ but what I’m more interested in is…
“So, Casandra created the Gifted huh.”
Altering people’s genetic make-up and making them develop abilities is incredible. Even I couldn’t think about that possibility since I’ve been so focused on magic, this world and improving my own individual power.
And not only that, it seems this Great Evil wasn’t destroyed but sealed. There’s so little information about the Draconic race and where they came from. Is there any left? If so, where are they hiding?
Sigh, maybe I’ll eventually find the answer in one of these ruins.
I place the diary into my storage space and look at the parchment pages scattered all over the table. It seems they are the formulars Casandra was talking about. There is the ‘Gift’ formular and even the ‘Gift Prediction’ formular.
Using thought acceleration, I learn the two formulars within a minute. A smile creeps on my face.
“These two formulars are amazing.”
Giving untalented people abilities. I bet this formulars would be worth a fortune if sold. But that’s not where my mind is. Just from my analysis of the formular, I can see the full potential that Casandra didn’t. I believe this formular can be further improved to the point where you can give people an ability you want.
Of course, this formular isn’t omnipotent. It doesn’t provide infinite possibilities.
I bet Sabrina will love this ‘Gift’ formular and if perfected, we could give the weaker soldiers of the village guards some abilities. We could create superhumans.
In the village guards, the weakest soldiers are able to fight against an orc in a group of 4. These individuals have a low mana capacity, low mana control and no talents. Of course, my training has made them stronger than the average soldier, but even that has its limits.
I don’t want to build cannon fodders as guards only to let them die out there. With this formular, there won’t be a cannon fodder in my future army. Sabrina has been experimenting on ways to help boost their combat power but even she’s struggling with that.
I look over the last parchment, but I could tell from a glance that this wasn’t the whole formular. In fact, it seems to be a rough draft. After examining it, my eyes open wide.

“Genetics plus Spirit magic?”
That’s all I got from the formular. It seems that Casandra wanted to combine those two things. It’s not impossible to combine science and magic. After all, I got to this level of power depending on my knowledge of science. But it seems Casandra went to a place even I couldn’t go. Not that I couldn’t, I just never thought about it.
For some reason, I wish I could have met her. She seems to have been a scientist by nature. It would have been nice to have an intellectual conversation with her.
I put all the parchment into my storage space. Lime jumps over to my shoulder. It seems I’m done with everything here. It’s time to go back to Waham and get my information.
I teleport back to Waham.

It’s morning.
Barion walks down the stairs and exits Naomi’s inn. It seems that he is absent minded and is swimming in his thoughts. There is one thing on his mind. It is the contents of the documents he was given. Barion arrives at the burnt warehouse where the slaves were kept.
It seems this entire thing began when this warehouse was burned down. From the documents, it seems this was an unregistered slave business. There was no name as to whom owned it but it seems the Bandit Society had something to do with it.
Now that I think about it. This whole thing is suspicious. It seems that the Bandit Society has long laid its roots here in Waham but there wasn’t any report of the Law Enforcement division ever being sent here.
The only records about Waham city is about the unit from the army that was sent here 20 years ago. The unit that Garrin was part of. Even the details of that mission have been omitted to a certain extent.
Which means someone is covering this entire thing.
Someone with power. A noble? Yes, maybe a powerful noble is in cahoots with them. The fact that someone was sent to clean everything up before we arrived must mean they knew we were coming. Could this also be the reason why Garrin left the army after he was the only survivor? Did he even leave out of his own volition?
With that trail of thought, Barion seems to have uncovered an even bigger conspiracy than what he initially thought.
It might not be just one noble. And this could not be the only city this is happening at.
Barion rubs his throbbing forehead with his fingers.
“I’ll have to ask Garrin about the details of that mission and the reason for his departure. Sigh, the Law Enforcement division should have at least sent that brat with past vision on this mission. He would be more helpful.”
Not only that, there’s still this matter about the demon. Well, I’ll let Marquis Reed find a way to handle all this. My job here is done.

I appear at Waham in a hidden alleyway. When I exit the alleyway, I notice a change from the last time I was here. Immediately, I release my magic sense, covering the entire city. I notice a lot of things from that.
Firstly, the number of guards at the city wall has reduced by a lot. There were dozens of guards at the gate, the wall and some were patrolling the last time I was here. The guards on the gate, even though they might be few, from their mana signature, I can tell that they are stronger than the average soldier.
Secondly, the mansion of the Baron who governs this city is nowhere to be seen or sensed in this case. All I sense is the left-over ruins of the mansion.
And lastly, I sense two strong mana signatures from two individuals. One is in the inn and the other is at the place I destroyed. There weren’t any people as strong as them last time.
“What could have happened?” I say while stroking my chin.
Well, it has nothing to do with me. The only reason I’m back at this place is to get the information about the location of the Wixx family head.
I enter Naomi’s inn and as usual, the inn falls quiet. Naomi looks at me behind the counter and smiles.
“I see you are back Wonder boy. Have a sit while I fix you a pint of rum.”
