Chapter 19 Using learned things

After 1 or 2 hours, the meeting finally ended. It was already afternoon and the sun was high up. We stalked some more teachers leaving the hall. I have never seen nor interacted with most of them, so I had no idea which of them were dangerous.

A young male teacher, brown hair, brown eyes, dressed completely odd, with a long sleeved white shirt, but on the other side, short black pants, was catching my interest. I was completely caught off guard when he suddenly turned around and smiled our way. He didn’t say anything nor did he inform the other teachers about us.

“Would be nice if that guy would be on our side. But even if he was an enemy I don’t think we would lose against him.”(Me)

I said to Takeshi while pointing at Brownie. I had no idea how to call him and my bad naming sense was showing up again.

“Who do you mean?”(Takeshi)

“Sigh. Never mind.”(Me)

Takeshi probably missed Mr. Brownie in that little crowd of teachers. Afterwards, I went back to the boy’s dormitory. I went to my room, took some clothing and put it in front of the window, because that sun was annoying as hell. That didn’t really cool off the room, but at least the temperature didn’t rise.

The rest of the day and part of the evening, I focused on writing at least 1 rune. It took half of the night, because my super huge ego didn’t allow me to fail if I really tried. Circumstances didn’t matter, what mattered was that I couldn’t allow myself to fail. As expected I created 1. Moreover, it was the 1 I was aiming for, Gravity.

But the side effect of practicing that long, I fell asleep instantly after succeeding. And it got worse, I slept on the floor. When I was woken up again the next day, my back hurt, but I was happy, because I succeeded.

You will start from the basics, slowly advance, while only being able to succeed after long time practicing my ass.

Was what I wanted to say, but no one was there to hear that.

Today I have martial arts. As far as I know it is something physical.

The weather cooled down a lot. It would eventually start raining in the next few days.

I didn’t want to go to class for the time being. Neither did I want to go to Takeshi. I really wanted to test out the Gravity rune, as well as that symbol I should have received. I had no idea how I could summon it, but that teacher said it would pop up in my mind as soon as I need it. I bet on that.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

For training, I needed some space. My room didn’t really fit that criteria. More important was, that I wouldn’t be seen by others. The only place I could think of was the park, Sakura talked about. The only risk was to encounter Takeshi, but as he was the least risk I could think of. Moreover, if I had enough luck, perhaps I won’t meet him, was what I thought.

I went there to test the Gravity rune, next thing I knew, my luck ran out.

“Dammit.”(Me)

He was lying under a tree. I had hopes that he didn’t see me, so I turned around and attempted to flee.

“Oy. What are you doing here?”(Takeshi)

“I wanted to try out something.”(Me)

I knew it was already too late and in order to prevent unnecessary talking, I just told him the truth.

“Eh. So you already succeeded? That’s quite something. Let me see it.”(Takeshi)

He took it more relaxed than I thought. I nodded to confirm that I would start now.

“First I need somewhere to place the Gravity rune.”(Me)

I pondered for a while and Takeshi got impatient.

“Just take your damn clothes.”(Takeshi)

“You are a genius.”(Me)

“I would actually believe you if you wouldn’t use sarcasm when talking to me.”(Takeshi)

As Takeshi said, I used my clothes. First I gathered mana, then I focused it at the tip of my index finger. I started with my shirt.

“Hahahaha. What is this?”(Takeshi)

Takeshi laughed when I finished drawing it. The sign itself looked similar to a dropping stone. Perhaps that was only my imagination, as it was my rune.

“Be careful or I will put some on you.”(Me)

“Yeah, yeah I am sorry. Haha. It is just, this looks so stupid.”(Takeshi)

“Thank you very much.”(Me)

I could feel a light increase in weight from my shirt, as well as a faint connection to my rune. As our teacher explained, it got heavier the more mana gathered and used to strengthen that connection.

“Did it work?”(Takeshi)

“Sure it did. With that, I will be able to train a lot more efficient.”(Me)

I said full with pride.

“You should dispel the rune after training though.”(Takeshi)

“Why so?”(Me)

“If you were to fight, you wouldn’t be able to use mana, as it would probably back fire on you.”(Takeshi)

I looked at him with a serious face.

“Could it be that you are a real genius?”(Me)

“Nah. I am just a god.”(Takeshi)

We both had some fun, and I teased Takeshi with gravity runes. It helped me a lot with training, because I needed to draw fast or he would dodge. After a few hours, we got exhausted and took a break.

“What about that symbol, teacher was talking about? Can I see yours?”(Takeshi)

“Sure, why not?”(Me)

“On your shirt again. That is the safest choice.”(Takeshi)

“Only for you though, but ok.”(Me)

Now would be a good time to appear my symbol.

I closed my eyes and prayed to my symbol. If someone else knew what I was doing they would think I was insane, but to others, I looked like I was focusing.

“That’s interesting.”(Takeshi)

“What?”(Me)

I slowly opened my eyes and looked down at my shirt where my symbol was.

“I thought that you can’t be less creative than with your rune, but I guess I made a huge miscalculation there. This tops it tenfold. Haha.”(Takeshi)

My symbol, that damn thing I prayed for was black. That was it. It was as black as my black mana sphere and also looked exactly the same, just in the form of a symbol. Having a black circle as my symbol was really embarrassing.

“Stop laughing, I bet yours won’t be more creative. That is if you ever create a rune.”(Me)

I said, obviously taunting Takeshi.

“I will. You just wait.”(Takeshi)

He sat down and focused his mana and attempted to write his rune.

“I am going to go now, martial arts class will soon start and I don’t want to be a scapegoat again, just because I am late.”(Me)

“Do what you want. Just know that I will have written my own rune when I see you again.”(Takeshi)

I had some time left, so I leisurely walked into the direction of the training fields.
