We followed the main road in order to get to our destination. Caravans, merchants and many others crossed our path. Some wanted to sell food or other goods to us, but we were short on money so we had to decline.
When we departed from town, the weather was sunny and hot, but the nearer we got to the tournament, the darker it got. Perhaps it was a bad omen or just my imagination, but it was funny. The nightmare on his way to a tournament comes and delivers bad luck.
“Is something wrong?”(Sandra)
“No. Never mind.”(Me)
“Tell me if you think of something funny.”(Sandra)
“Put on your hood, we’ll arrive soon.”(Me)
“Fine.”(Sandra)
Before we put on our hoods, we left the main road and made sure that no one saw us. We did so, because I didn’t want to take any risks.
“By the way big brother, how are you planning to get in? If I remember correctly, we don’t have an invitation.”(Sandra)
I already thought about that and came up with a good idea.
“You’ll see soon enough.”(Me)
After a few more minutes, we were able to see the area of the tournament. It was an arena surrounded by huge walls. Even if someone would try to get a good luck from outside the walls, it was practically impossible.
“It probably has no roof.”(Sandra)
“I also think so.”(Me)
It was hard to see the top, but it looked like there would be no roof.
“Ugh.”(Sandra)
“What’s the matter?”(Me)
Sandra pointed to the gates. There was a very, very long line.
“Does your plan include us waiting in line?”(Sandra)
“Haha. Luckily not. Just follow me.”(Me)
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
We just skipped everyone who patiently waited in line and headed to the entrance. We received angry stares from all the people we passed. I didn’t mind it at all, but Sandra was probably only waiting for the faces when they would get to know our true identity.
“Halt!”(Guard)
There were many guards positioned at that gate. They thought that only one guard was enough to stop us though.
“Who do you think you are, skipping the waiting line? There are many who came long before you and waited patiently. Go back and line up properly, than perhaps we will let the two of you enter.”(Guard)
I felt many stares focused on us. The feeling wasn’t new to me. What was noteworthy though, was that this tournament was huge and many important figures were attending. It was the perfect opportunity for spies, assassins and the likes.
“We got spotted earlier than expected.”(Sandra)
She whispered and pointed to one of the guards who started running towards a room near the gate.
“Hahahaha.”(Me)
My laugh was wicked and evil. Everyone except Sandra took at least one step back.
“D… Didn’t you hear me? I said go back and wait in line!”(Guard)
He could barely say it, but still tried to look as authentic as possible.
“Are you telling me what to do?”(Me)
I slowly gathered mana to pressure him.
“Look.”(Sandra)
She whispered again while grabbing my robe. The guard, who ran away before, came back with a guard that was definitely a few ranks higher than everyone present.
“I’m telling you to go and wait in line.”(Guard)
He was still able to raise a word against me. I was much too friendly, so it was obvious that he wouldn’t fear me enough yet. I couldn’t hold back my laughter and excitement. I immediately concentrated a lot of mana on him and pressured him to the point, where he had to get down on his knees and could barely stay conscious.
“Hahahaha.”(Me)
“Guh!”(Guard)
Even though hundreds of people watched it, no one dared to step forward and save him. My display terrified even Sandra. My blood was boiling and I was about to increase the pressure again, which would have killed him.
“Is there a problem?”(?)
The important looking guard came up and confronted us. All the others looked up to him. Some even called him head guard and it looked like everyone was surprised that he was here.
“Yes. Your underling here is telling me what to do and it’s pissing me off.”(Me)
He had to act quickly; otherwise, his underling wouldn’t last long.
“I know who you are and I am sorry for the poor treatment you received. I beg you to lift this unbearable pressure from this unworthy person first.”(Head guard)
I stared into his eyes. I didn’t know if he was lying or not, but he was the only person who had enough guts to speak against me in that situation. I tried to see if he was lying or not, but I wasn’t able to do so.
“Fine.”(Me)
I lifted the pressure and the guard fell to the floor. He wasn’t able to withstand and fell unconscious. After I heard some relieved sighs, I looked around and everyone I looked at froze and didn’t dare to move an inch.
“Please follow me.”(Head guard)
Without any further words, we followed behind and entered the arena. It was huge. It didn’t have a roof itself, but it had many smaller buildings which had one. We passed some houses with many fighting areas, where a lot of children fought against each other.
“What’s this?”(Me)
“Only the best of the best will be allowed to compete on the main stage and in front of the crowd of thousands of people. There are 32 smaller tournaments and only the winner of those will participate in the main tournament.”(Head guard)
I was quite interested in watching the small tournaments too, but the head guard led us to somewhere else. We even passed the main arena. I wasn’t able to look inside it either, but I was satisfied with knowing that I will probably see it later.
I felt like I was in a city and we headed for the centre. I wanted to see a lot of things but we only passed them, because the head guard always said the king would be waiting for me.
“The king is waiting for you inside.”(Head guard)
“Finally. It took long enough.”(Me)
“I… I’m sorry.”(Head guard)
“Don’t worry. It’s not your fault and thank you for bringing us here.”(Me)
I was excited to finally be able to meet the human king. From what I heard from Sepp, he was a really interesting person. I collected my thoughts and entered the house, the king of humans was waiting in for me.
