Chapter 11 first magic lesson (2)

“Well, now that we finished this, let’s start with learning real magic, shall we?”(Amelie)

She said in a friendly way.

“In the past year, I have taught you how you use mana, but for example in a real fight, the strongest attacks come from the combination of mana and elements. It is important for you to feel the elements of nature and fuse your mana with it.”(Amelie)

More and more, my homeroom teacher moved her speech into a direction fitting the way a teacher would. From her seemingly friendly personality, she switched to a harsh sounding teacher-personality, which would not let any student fail.

“I am expecting a lot from you guys, so I’ll give you a weak. Everyone, who fails to combine his mana with his elements will face the consequences.”(Amelie)

She looked more like a devil when she said that, but I am not the person to judge a teacher as a devil, because, honestly, I was no better. Everyone felt the pressure and fear of those “consequences”, Amelie spoke of and no one wanted to receive them.

“But teacher, why do we have to wait for everyone to succeed? Can’t we just go further right after we succeed?”(William)

Most of the class was looking at him angry, which I understood. I mean he literally said that he was looking down on everyone else in front of the class.

“Sigh. Then let’s make a little challenge out of it. Whoever succeeds first, will get my permission to come and leave class whenever he wants in the next month. We will focus on the basics anyway, which can also be done in self practice.”(Amelie)

It looked like that was exactly what William wanted, because he made a satisfied expression.

“I William L Matthews will win this little challenge of yours and gain the right of staying out of this class for a whole month.”(William)

He proclaimed that after standing up raising his fist high. He looked really stupid, but no one said anything or laughed at him. I guessed that something like that didn’t happen the first time and that he really succeeded in winning those challenges. Unluckily, he now had a real wall he would not be able to overcome. Me.

“I will start explaining what you have to do to combine your elements with your mana, so listen carefully.”(Amelie)

You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.

Before she could continue, William collected his mana, concentrated and was already trying to do it. As far as I could see, he didn’t make any mistakes and tried his best. She hadn’t even started to explain so it was obvious, that he had already known a method beforehand. Perhaps he was even training before, which gave him a huge advantage.

When the others saw him, they made a depressed expression, already giving up on winning. At least most of them did. Sakura was trying to copy what William’s was doing to keep up. It was more likely, that Sakura was trying to keep the dignity of our class and wasn’t trying to get that allowance.

“Teacher they already started. That’s not fair, I thought this would be a fair duel and we would only begin after your explanation would end.”(Me)

I said with a voice without much emotions, but with a lot sarcasm in it.

“As you can see, the duel between those 2 has already started. As always, the young noble William of our class already knew what he had to do and Sakura our little genius is trying to copy him again. Sigh, what good do I even have when my students already know how they can practice magic?”(Amelie)

“Eh. So this is normal to happen in this class?”(Me)

I asked while looking at my other classmates, which answered me by nodding their heads.

“Isn’t that boring with just 2 people? We should all try our best.”(Me)

“It isn’t because it’s boring. It is because no one in this class can keep up with those 2. We are not of noble birth and no genius which only comes once in every 100 years.”(Ryo)

Ryo said from behind. With that I ended my questions, because it would only lead to them being even more depressed and everyone was watching William and Sakura trying to succeed first and how they would succeed. Seeing how it should be done with your own 2 eyes was also a good way of learning.

Everyone was cheering silently for 1 of those 2 to win, but seriously they took way too long. After 5 minutes I got bored. In a fight, you would never get 5 minutes to prepare magic, or at least I never got those 5 minutes.

“Teacher. Can I go?”(Me)

“Eh? What?”(Amelie)

She also focused on those 2 to correct them if they did any mistakes and didn’t think I would talk to her during that time.

“Did you succeed?”(Amelie)

She said not even looking at me. I couldn’t be angry at her. She had 2 really talented students which she needed to focus on in that moment, so she had no room to think about someone else.

“Sure I did, look.”(Me)

I smiled but noticed that no one was paying me any attention. I was really annoyed. I understood why they ignored me but I didn’t have much patience.

“Is that so? Than go back to training.”(Amelie)

“But teacher I already did it. Why do I have to go back to training?”(Me)

“As I said before, if you…” (Amelie)

She finally turned around and was looking at me. There was a little green mana ball floating above my hand.

“Eh?”(Amelie)

“Can I go now?”(Me)

I asked her.

“W… What? That can’t be possible.”(Amelie)

“But that is clearly wind magic, I don’t think that I am wrong and you can check if you want.”(Me)

“You are right, but…but…” (Amelie)

1 after another turned to look at me. Even William and Sakura where stopping and looked dumbfounded. It took them a while to recover from their shock, but as expected, Amelie as a teacher was the first.

“I don’t know how or what you did Hikaru, but as this is clearly wind magic, I declare you as the winner of this challenge and you have my permission to come and leave THIS class whenever you want during the next month. Congratulations.”(Amelie)

So she said while smiling.

“Thank you I guess?”(Me)

I said embarrassed. I winked everyone else and left the rest of the class which wasn’t able to recover standing. With that my first real magic lesson came to an end in a time of about half an hour. If classes would have stayed that way, I would have been really bored. Luckily, that wasn’t the only course I was in and I was in high spirits when I thought about learning Rune magic and martial arts, while leaving the school building and going back to my room.

“I have been away from home for about 6 days, I should look how my students are doing.”(Me)
