Ray walks over to the door he had spotted earlier, “Hey Ken, what's in here?”, Ray asked curious.
“There's treasures and stuff that the goblins have looted and... well, um... this may be hard for you to see as a former human, I’ll let you know I had nothing to do with this, they were here before I was born, in fact, one of them is my mother... I think.”.
“What are you talking about?”, Ray said as he pushed open the door to a horrid sight. Near a pile of random junk, there were 3 women, chained up, naked, cut and bruised, sat in a pile of their own faeces, Ray looked into their eyes that were lifeless, full of sorrow and despair, if Ken had a stomach he would have thrown up by the sight, it was horrible, what these goblins had done was horrible, but for what reason would they do such a horrendous thing? For fun?
“What's this?”. Ray asked seriously.
“You mean you don’t know? Surely you know, goblin females are really rare, 1 in 1,000 goblins are born female and so, to make sure we don’t go extinct, we procreate with other races, human women being the easiest.”.
“I-I see... Have you...”
“No, maybe it’s due to my superior intellect, but that sight does not please me at all, not to mention I have no idea which one of them is my mother, though that doesn’t seem to bother normal goblins, as I've stated, they’re disgusting and dumb.”. Ken said matter of factly
“Are you sure you're a goblin? You really don’t seem to think highly of your own kind”. Ray queried.
“I only care about myself, besides I tried to help them, but they wouldn't listen.”.
“I see. Can I borrow your, mind projection collar?”.
“Sure... but why?”, Ken asked curiously.
“I’m gonna see if they want to die or live.”, Ray said seriously, Ken handed Ray the collar and he put it on.
“Can you hear me?” Ken said in human.
The women didn't reply but simply looked up at Ray and so he simply asked “Life, or Death.”, the three women looked at each other and then simultaneously replied “Death... please.”, Ray was slightly disappointed by their wishes to die, but he couldn't blame them, for what they must have been through, no worldly thing could heal them from this trauma. This reinstated just how real this world was, it may be like the game, but this isn’t a game, it was real life. And as the sound of him levelling up to level 30 sounded in his head, for the first time, he wasn’t pleased by it, however he was shocked that killing these supposedly weak women, would level him up by 2 whole levels at, at his current level he needed to kill around 10 level 10 monsters just to go up 1 level and it was hard to come across a monster of that level on the first floor, this just made it even more evident that as a monster, killing adventures was definitely the fastest way to grow.
After covering the women's bodies with a tarp he found, Ray began to go through the loot the goblins had stolen, most of it was utter rubbish, however within this trash heap Ray found some amazing items. First was a bottomless bag with the rarity of rare, it could hold up to 30 items, as Ray checked if anything was inside of it, he found a white shirt, a leather tunic, blue cotton pants and the most valuable item of all, a book titled, “magic book of basic elemental spells.”, this was perfect, he could begin learning more magic. Ray also decided to replace the clothes of his old world, placing them in his bag and wear the clothes he just found to blend into this world more. Then after almost giving up he found it, the most valuable item there. Items are categorised by rarity in this world, common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary and mythical, the rarer the item the more money they’re worth and the harder they are to come across and Ray had Just hit the jack pot, a legendary weapon, an enchanted cutlass that widened at the tip with a fire attribute. Enchanted weapons are weapons that were forged and imbued with magical power and can only be forged by dwarf and even then, it is rare to find a dwarf with the skill to craft one. What and enchanted blades do, is convert the mana used in a skill and change it to the magical type that is imbued within the weapon, making them stronger and giving them different affects, he also found a red scarf that he thought was cool and so took that too. Satisfied by the loot he had just found he and Ken exited the goblin nest and headed back to the room that Ray had awakened in.

“So, what now?”. Ken asked.
“Well, I’m gonna read this new book of magic I found, would you like to join me?”, Ray asked excitement in his voice.
“I would, but I can’t currently read human.”. Ken replied, “I’ll gladly take it off your hands once I do though.”. Ray was shocked that Ken was interested in learning over languages, however for someone who prided himself on intelligence it made sense, he probably wouldn’t be able to get a good conversation out of most of his kind, even ogres and above, who were quite intelligent probably couldn’t hold an effective conversation with Ken.
“I could read it to you.”. Ray snickered, covering his mouth as if embarrassed by the thought.
“Shut up.”. Ken retorted as he stood up. “I’m gonna go hunt to raise my level.”
“Have fun.” Ken said, as he cracked open the book.
As Ray began to read through the “magic book of basic elemental spells.”, it opened began with a brief explanation on mana. Although everyone and everything posses' mana they are split into 2 categories, those who can use the mana within their bodies, yet not the mana in the atmosphere that’s all around them, also known as natural mana, these people are called enhancers and are those who use combat and weapon-based skills that are enhanced by their mana. And then there are those who use the mana in their bodies to draw in the natural mana all around them that can then be shaped into magical spells, however, they can’t activate the mana within their own bodies to enhance themselves, it is simply like a magnet for natural mana, these are what we call mages. “This explains the reason why you can’t use magic and skills; I just thought it was lazy game development. However a mage could still wield a weapon, though against those who use skills they would surely fall flat.”, Ray thought, interested in the subject, “However, with the development of enchanted weapons, it allows those who are enhancers to technically use magic.”, Ray thought glancing at the legendary enchanted fire sword he had found, he still couldn’t believe his luck, to think it would be sat their collecting dust in a goblin loot pile, some rich rookie adventurer must have bought it and died instantly Ray thought shaking his head, “disgusting goblins.”.
The book went on further to talk about the fundamental roles of each elemental magic type, fire is typically offensive magic however there are a few defense spells. Water is typically healing magic yet contains limited defensive and offensive spells. Wind is typically support magic yet has a couple offensive spells. Earth magic however heavily focuses around both offensive and defensive spells. All this information was highly useful for a mage as it would suggest what role they would play in a party, especially since most mages can only use 1 or 2 magic classes whether they are one of the 4 elemental types or one of the 5 unique types, lightning, ice, plant, light and darkness which Ray was currently unable to use. So far Ray had basic understanding of all elemental magic, however his aptitude for them gravely differed. Whilst testing out spells he figured he had a high aptitude for both fire and earth magic, whereas he had a weaker aptitude for water and wind magic, meaning he wasn’t much use in supportive roles. “I’ll have to find strong allies in both support and healing after all if Ken won’t sit back and be a healer.” Ray thought as he closed the book, he had learnt all the skills he thought were useful from the book and Ken had returned, boasting about how he had risen to level 28, Ray conveniently told him how he was level 30, to stop Ken from getting any funny ideas. Ray packed up his book and picked up his sword
“Let's go, Gob-ken.”.
“Yeah, the monsters up here aren't helping me progress much anymore.”.
