Day opens the door to an amazing sight. Lilly was standing there in a lime green summer dress that flowed at the skirt, her long and messy hair had been braided into one long braid that dropped halfway down her back and on her feet, she wore brown boots that went halfway up her shins. As Ray opened the door, she turned to him and smiled brightly, her face flushed her ears and arms twitching. Ray was flabbergasted, she looked amazing. Lilly holds her skirt up slightly and does a little twirl.
“So, what do you think?”, Lilly asks, her bright, honey gold eyes staring up at him.
“I-it looks great on you.”, Ray says blushing. She grins mischievously.
“You don’t look too bad yourself.”, She says, and she links arms with Ray and begins escorting him out of the castle.
In one of the windows, Luke puts his hand on the glass, with a solemn look on his face. Anna puts her hand on his shoulder.
“She’s an adult now... and she’s been through a lot. She deserves to have some time to do normal young adult stuff. Before things get messy. You know how she is; she will insist on fighting in this upcoming battle.”.
“I know.”, Luke says, putting his hand on his wife's.
As Ray and Lilly walk down the street, Ray notices that they are getting stared at by a lot of people.
“Is it just me or are a lot of people staring at you?”, Ray asked Lilly, eyebrow raised.
“Actually, I think it’s you, after all, I doubt anyone else in this world has hair as unnaturally red as yours.”, Lilly replied.
And she was right about that, Ray had seen no unique hair colours in this world yet, they were all stereotypical colours he would have found in his own world.
“Or maybe they’re staring because the princess of the northern beast tribe is with an unknown red-haired person.”, Ray said, sighing, with all these eyes on him he felt awkward.
Lilly laughed, “forget about them, come on, let me show you around.”, she said pulling him excitedly.
And so, the pair went all around the city, Lilly showed him to a famous tailor who was known for making the finest of clothes using the best materials in the city, a blacksmith, who's skills paled in comparison to an Elves, but other than that was considered a prodigy, a beautiful florist that sold all kinds of cool and unique flowers and seeds that Ray had never seen before, she brought him to a magic store that sold wands, staffs, spell books, grimoires and unique magic items. Ray particularly liked this shop; he found a pair of goggles there that allowed him to see the level of everyone he looked at, though they were incredibly expensive, he really needed a job. She brought him to a furnishing shop, a food store that sold the freshest of ingredients, a library that sold countless books, the school that the children had gone to explore, a church which they worshiped the goddess of all living things and finally, to a place Lilly thought Ray would love the most.
“Is this... an adventurer's guild?”, Ray asked amazed.
“Yep, the only one in town, in here they post all kinds of jobs from gathering items, to fighting monsters. Not as many people want to become adventures anymore due to the times we live in and how dangerous it is past these woods, but that just means the rewards for far excursions are much higher.”, Lilly stated.
The building was amazing, it was a large building made from brick and had a wooden roof with columns to support it. Above its giant double doors was a sign that read, “Adventures guild.”, in Demilang.
“Do you want to go in there and sign up?”, Lilly asked looking at him and smiling.
“Are you sure... won’t that get in the way of our date?”.
“Nah, I know you like this kind of thing and besides, I’m going to sign up too.”, She said standing proudly.
“Are you allowed to do that... you know as a princess and all?”.
“I’m a warrior before anything else, besides I’m an adult now so I can do what I want.”, she says with a huff.
“Let's do this then.”, Ray said with a smile.
As they entered the Guild they walked into a giant Hall, on their left was a bar that sold all kinds of drinks and foods for their adventures and to the right was the reception desk and a bulletin board with the list of jobs on them. There also appeared to be a second floor, probably where the guild masters' headquarters were. They both walked over to the reception desk where a young woman with brown short hair and long bunny ears was sat.
“Hi, how may I help you?”, She asked, her eyes fixated on Rays hair. Was it really that unusual he thought to himself.
“Hey, we’ve come to sign up to the guild.”, Lilly said placing herself between Ray and the woman, drawing the receptionist gaze down to her.
“I-I see and to which faction would that be? Adventurers or merchants.”.
“Adventurers please.”.
“Very well, just give me a minute.”, she turned around in her seat and rustled through some papers behind her, she pulled out 2 sheets and 2 quills and ink and handed it to Lilly.
“Please sign these documents and hand them back when ready, after that, we will begin your induction process.”.
“Thank you.”, Ray and Lilly said to the receptionist.
They went away and filled out their forms and then returned to the receptionist and handed them in. As she read over the forms, she spotted Lilly's name, her eyes widened, however, remaining professional she continued.
“Alright, now first some information. At our guild, no matter what level you are, you begin at the first rank obsidian, it then progresses upwards, metal, bronze, silver, gold and finally platinum. You can improve your rank by taking on quests, the more difficult, the quicker you will rise. You are only permitted on taking quest that are one rank above yours, no matter how skilled or strong you are, those are the rules. Do you understand.
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
“Yes ma’am.”, Both says.
“If you are caught taking others quests for them, you will be banned from the guild. To take a quest simply take the request and hand it in to us. We will the register that quest to your name and when you have completed the quest with proof. We will reward you with your pay.”, when she finished, she handed them each ah necklace that had an obsidian tag on it, that ha their names carved into it.
“Make sure you don’t lose those; it signifies your rank and without them you can’t take on jobs, with all that out of the way. Welcome to our guild.”, She says with a warm smile.
“Thank you, they both say.”.
As they walk away, Ray admires his adventurer's tag. He now had a new side mission, to become a platinum ranked adventurer.
“We’re official adventures now.”, Lilly says looking at Ray and smiling brightly.
“Yeah, thanks Lilly, today has been really fun.”, Ray says, a huge smile on his face that makes Lilly blush.
“Yeah well, this is you know, thanks for everything you’ve done.”, she says turning away.
“We should form a party. Me and you.”, Ray says. Lilly turns back to him with a smile.
“Yeah.", she says, ears and tail wiggling.
The pair look at each other, tension in the air, when suddenly Rays stomach rumbles.
“S-sorry”, Ray said his face going Red with embarrassment.
“I think we should go and get something to eat.”, Lilly says laughing.
“Yeah, that sounds great.”, Ray replies.
After stuffing their faces and heading back to the castle, Ray and Lilly pause outside of the castle front doors.
“Today was fun.”, Lilly said facing Ray.
“Yeah, fun. We should do it again someday.”.
“Next time, it’s up to you to ask me.”, Lilly says smiling, tail swaying back and forth.
“Y-yeah, I’ll ask you next time.”, Ray stutters.
“Great. I’m looking forwards to it.”, She says, as the sun begins to set, the pair stair into each other's eyes.
“Where have you two been all this time?”, Leo asks throwing open the door in excitement.
Sara comes running over, seeing Ray and Lilly who were standing really close together and swiftly Wacks Leo on the head and drags his lifeless corpse away, “Idiot!”.
Ray and Lilly laugh at what just happened.
“Well, I’m gonna go and wash and head up to my room.”, and with that she kisses Ray on the cheek and hurries off to her room, face red.
Ray stands there in the doorway to the castle, frozen in shock.
Leo peeks his head round the corner of the door and catches Rays eye, he smirks at him and puts his thumbs off and then runs off screaming, “HEY GUYS, GUESS WHAT!”. Trying to stop him from blabbering, Ray runs after Leo and they begin one of their common games of chase, where Leo runs for his life as he is hunted down by Ray.
After chasing Leo and washing, Ray lies on his bed, staring up into the ceiling.
“So that was a date. From her reaction at the end, I guess I didn’t mess anything up.”, he touches the side of his face where Lilly kissed him and smiled to himself. Before falling asleep.
As Ray woke up and got ready, he put on his fur clothes. He was preparing for a journey, Ray had decided that he should Inform Ken and Ceasar about the upcoming situation as soon as possible so they could properly prepare and so, even though he had only just arrived, he was leaving once again. As he sat down for breakfast, he informed the group on where he was going.
“CAN WE GO?”, Molly asked, “YEAH WE MISS KEN!”, Tom replied.
“Normally I would, but you guys are about to start school after so long, you guys don’t want to miss out, do you?”, Ray asked
“No.”, They both replied dejected.
“Don’t worry, you’ll see him soon.”, Lilly said to Tom and Molly.
“How far is it?”, Claire asked.
“Not too far from where we met actually, I’ll be gone probably about 10 days, after that I’m ready for training.”, Ray replied
“I’ll make sure everything is prepared for when you return.”, Luke stated as he devoured his breakfast.
“As will I.”, Claire replied.
“Oh yeah Claire. I would like to hear more about the demons 4 generals later. Do you think you could describe them to me and what their abilities may be.”, Mary asked.
“Of course, I can try, though I don’t know much about them.
After everyone finished eating Ray was about to leave when Lilly, dressed in her wolf clothes with her bow and arrows on hand came running down.
“Wait. I want to come too.”, She said eagerly.
“But you just got back here, besides your pare-”.
“How many times do I have to say I’m an adult now. I can go if I want to. Or is it that you don’t want me to come?”, Lilly said raising her eyebrow.
“It's not that... It's just you only just got back and now your gonna leave again for 10 days. You family misses you. Also, I think your dad would have a heart attack if you left.”, Ray said chuckling at the last part, even Lilly couldn't help but laugh.
“Where do you think you're going dressed like that?”, Luke asks as him and Anna descend the stairs.
“I want to go with Ray to speak to Ken.”, Lilly said firmly
“B-b-but baby girl. You just got back here why do you have to leave again.”, Luke said heart broken.
“I’ll be back soon.”, Lilly said, she looked over to her mom. “Please mom...”, She said, eyes wide.
“I promise I’ll keep her safe.”, Ray interjected.
Anna smiled, “Lilly you're an adult now, your free to make your own decisions, but remember, your still our little girl and we miss you. So please don’t make a habit out of disappearing for long periods of time. We miss you and frankly I don’t think you father can handle it.”, She said as she held up Lukes lifeless body.
Lilly beamed with joy as she ran over to her parents and gave them a big hug.
“Thank you.”, Lilly said.
“Stay safe. Also, I know you like him, but try not to have any kittens too soon. I’m only 44 don’t make me a grandmother that young.”. Anna whispered, winking at her daughter.
Lillys face went bright red as she sprinted over to Ray and grabbed his hand.
“C’mon let's go.”, she said, her head down, steam flowing from it.
“H-hey wait. Uh BYE!”. Ray says as he is promptly dragged out of the castle.
“You two take care!”, Anna says smiling.
