Chapter 18 - a new power

Chapter 18 - a new power

Ray had reached level 107 by the time Claire had called for him. He had levelled up by 23 levels and although he was tired. He was excited for the next floor. He flew up out of the snake den and landed before Claire, she looked at his new body, with his outstanding physique, blushing slightly, his physique was better than hers.

“Wow... you really did change quite a bit; you even look more your age.”, she said as she stared mesmerised at both his body and face.

“That was good, I managed to gain 23 levels.”, Ray said as he wiped the sweat from his face.

“Perfect, now, let's quickly move onto the next floor.”, Claire said, breaking herself out of her trances. This was strange for her; she had never looked at a man like this before, she was worried she was ill or something.

Aa they finally reached the fifth floor; Ray could hear the thudding and heavy shuffling of unknown creatures within the room.

“What's in there?”, Ray asked curiously.

“Just wait and see.”, Claire said with a smile.

As they opened the door and walked in, they entered a giant room, at first, Ray still didn't know what was making those sounds until he noticed what he thought was a 10-foot stone pillar moving towards him.

“Reanimated statues, a room full of golems.”, Ray said looking at Claire.

“Yeah, this room will be a little more difficult, golems are resilient to flames. The only fire spell I know that could destroy a golem is explosion, so unless your flames have an impact as strong as that, it will do little damage.”, she said as she swung her sword, a wave of mana shooting off and slicing right through the golem.

“Blunt force attacks are more effective; however, you have the strength to slice through those snakes' tough exteriors so you may be able to.”, she pulls out her 24-hour timer once again and flips it.

“Good luck.”.

Ray cracked his knuckles, he decided he wasn’t going to use his sword this time, he’d have to learn how to deal with opponents and situations where he couldn’t use his swords. If he knew beast-man kung-fu he’d use that, but as it was and unlearnable skill in the game, he would have to find someone to teach him how to use it in the southern beast tribe, though that may prove difficult as not everyone has the attributes to learn it, he had once asked Lilly, but she was unable to learn it herself and so he wasn't able to learn from her.

Ray rushed in at the nearest golem who was waddling towards him, golems were slow but strong. As the golem swung down, he used his flames to cause an explosion at his feet, blowing him up in the air, delivering a crushing uppercut to the golems chin crumbling it to pieces and sending cracks all through its head, however not killing it. Ray continued to fly upwards and engulfed his leg in an intense flame aura, he could now use more of his flame aura around his body and so when focused on one area, it was even more intense. As his burning foot collided with the golems skull it shattered like glass as he went through, as he did, the golem grumbled to a pile of rocks. Their heads were the weak points which Ray had known from playing Evolution: Online.

The sound of Rays attack had drowned out the surrounding sound and so before he had realised, he was surrounded by 7 golems. Ray smiled.

“Bring it on you hulking pile of craps.”.

Ray flies forwards with his flames, his fists on fire and punches with all his might into the golems face, crumbling it to bits and dust.

“1.”.

He leaps from the crumbling golems body; his right leg now engulfed in flames and slams it down into the next golems head, caving it in and using his left leg, pushes the golem away.

“2.”.

Ray creates an “Exploding pitch.” and throws it at the next golem. Claire was right, this technique which toppled a boulder only amounted to blowing a chunk out of the golems skull and sending cracks through its body. As Ray landed on the floor the golem swung at Ray, who jumped out of the way as it crashed hard into the floor. Ray created another exploding pitch and charged it furth spinning it faster and faster, the flames getting hotter and hotter rising past 1,100°C and then... the flame tunned pure white, his flames reaching 1,500°C... blue flames which were around 2,500°C to 3,000°C were known as pure flames. White ones were purer than orange, but not as pure as blue.

“Semi-perfect pitch.”.

Ray threw the white ball of flame, which rocked towards the golem at speeds Ray had never seen before, he snapped his fingers and the pitch exploded. There was a burning white light and when Ray looked. All that was left was the golems feet. Ray was shocked at the power and speed of this attack; a regular “Exploding pitch.” had hardly done any damage but a “Semi-perfect pitch.” had completely destroyed it... what would happen if he achieved perfect flames or ultraviolet flames and could he do that with his aura.

“3.”.

As another golem loomed behind him trying to grab him from behind, he jumps up high into the air, flips backwards, feet now engulfed in flame aura and slammed right through the golems head, decapitating him.

“4.”.

Ray concentrates all the flame aura in his hand and boosts the flame, rotating his aura around his fist, partially using flam manipulation to do this, the flame spins like a drill around his fist and eventually, it too becomes white. As a golem appears behind him, he spins around.

“WHITE VOTEX!”.

As he punches the golems stomach, it immediately hollowed out creating a gaping hole, then, the spiralling flames unravel and burst out causing a secondary impact, greater than the first. Obliterating the golem.

“5.”.

Ray was shocked at the new power he could generate, but he had to be careful, these attacks as expected, drained him of his stamina quicker than the others.

Ray runs over, legs engulfed in flame aura and sweeps the legs of the next golem, shattering them. As the golem falls to a closer level, Ray swirls around on his hands and springs himself up into a 2 footed kick upwards into its chin, destroying it.

“6.”.

Bouncing off this attack he launches himself over to the next golem, however it swats him away, sending Ray crashing into the ground, however as he bounces off the floor, he regains his composer, landing on all fours like a wild beast and lunges at the golem, the golem swipes for Rays head, who slides between the golems legs, engulfs his whole body in his new and improved flame aura which is faster, stronger and more durable and launches himself through the golems midriff cutting it in half.

“7.”.

As Ray paused for a second, the alert notifying him that he had levelled up to 108 sounded in his head. He smiled and continued his assault.

Claire was quite shocked of how strong Ray was, he was more or less man handling the golems and even used attacks she had never seen before, attacks that seemed way more powerful than the ones he used against her... was he holding back? Or was he simply just a prodigy and a fast learner?

Ray continued his assault taking a few breaks as he went, the golems weren’t that hard to beat, they were ridiculously slow to the point where if you were fast enough you could easily speed blitz them... if you weren’t fast enough to do so then you may have been in trouble.

And as the timer ran out and Claire called for Ray to return so they can venture to the next floor, Ray had made it to level 122, he hadn’t gained as many levels as beforehand, but it made sense. Although they gave him more Exp, with each evolution he required more exp to level up. And Ray had already established for himself, that he needed a great deal of exp to reach his next evolution. It was probably to do with him having so much power and potential. Rau was only currently level 122, but in a 1 on 1 fight would probably be able to hold his own against a level 170.

“How was that?”, Claire looked at Ray smugly, as if to say she told him he would be able to level up fast here.

“This place is great; I'll have to remember about this place.”.

“Well after you get to a certain level this dungeon will become less useful, but it’s great to level up when you're in the early to mid-stages of level 100... well, you ready for the last floor?”.

“Bring it on.”, Ray said, pumped up, he was going to go all out.

As they approached the 6th floors door Claire informed Ray on the sixth floor.

“Now as you know, the monsters on this floor are levels 100 to 120, although you are now above these monsters, I will warn you, do not underestimate them. These monsters possess the speed of the snakes you met earlier, as well as the destructive strength of the golems. If you take them too lightly. You very well could die.”.

Ray had to admit to himself, that warning made him feel a little nervous, but he was prepared, he was going to go in there and gain as much as he could from the last floor before he was put on babysitting duties.

“I’m not going to enter this time; I killed their lord so they’ll probably target me which will prover useless to you.”.

“Their lord?”.

“you'll understand when you go in there.... Are you ready?”.

“Always.”. Ray said confidently, though slightly curious at what she meant

As Ray opened the door, he stepped into a giant room that looked like a giant dining hall that resembled the great hall from Hogwarts but over 10 times bigger. As he looked around, he noticed many red, evil, hungry eyes watching him. As he scanned the room, he immediately knew what they were, ghasts, the 3rd evolution from the skeleton if you took the vampire route, the evolution right after zombies. They are more or less extremely weak vampires that couldn’t even be considered vampires, they had pale, grey, bluish skin and they were balding and although compared nowhere near even lesser vampires in strength or speed, let alone vampires and vampire lords. They were fast, strong and had some form of intellect, this would definitely prove harder than he had previously expected, but no matter. He would come out of here, stronger and victorious.
