Chapter 28: Rejuvenation

Chapter 28: Rejuvenation

Green hid behind a rock, peering out to assess the situation. The scene he saw was quite startling.

Trolls and silver wolves fought ferociously as they ran through the labyrinth tunnel. Three humongous trolls faced off against fourteen vicious silver wolves.

One troll was heavily injured; one of its arms was torn off, likely lying in the stomach of one of the wolves.

Realizing they were outnumbered, the trolls attempted to escape, but each time they did so, the silver wolves would catch up and bite at their ass.

Green, secretly amused, suddenly thought of the terrifying one-eyed troll – was it also chased like this?

Although he wanted to laugh, Green was unsure of how to safely retreat without alerting any of the monsters.

"For now, I should just stay put."

"Plus, I have the best seat for tonight's fight." Green observed the bloody battle from hiding.

"Wow, the trolls are really strong." He realized how fortunate he was to have defeated the one-eyed troll.

Although the trolls were formidable, the silver wolves had a numerical advantage that couldn't be underestimated.

Green checked his watch; three minutes passed, but the fight was still ongoing.

Watching the fight, he realized that the most awe-inspiring power trolls possessed wasn't their enormous strength but their ability to take a beating.

After being harassed by the wolves for so long, the tanky trolls were still alive and kicking.

But no matter how good they were at enduring attacks, trolls were not immortal. Green's eyes widened as the single-armed troll fell to the ground, lifeless.

It didn't go down alone, taking some silver wolves along to accompany it in the afterlife.

The remaining trolls growled in anger and despair as they fought back.

Desperate and bloody – that's how he could describe this fight. Green quietly watched the battle until only a single troll and four silver wolves remained.

The silver wolves, like their beastly opponent, had numerous wounds on their bodies, and their white fur had turned blood red.

With a final growl, the sole remaining troll lunged forward and ferociously clubbed a silver wolf to death. It didn't stop there and smacked another leaping wolf, breaking its leg.

Taking the opportunity, a wolf lunged forward, tearing open the troll's wide neck, and the beast fell to the ground, lifeless.

Watching the conclusion of the fight, Green heaved a sigh of relief. The battle was over, and he could finally leave.

Suddenly, his face contorted into a scowl. The silver wolf with the smashed leg had sensed his presence.

"Howl!"

It released a blood-curling howl and lunged at him. Green was shocked and rolled to the side to escape.

The other two wolves were also alerted by the noise and rushed over.

Green took a deep breath, his grip on the sword handle tightened, and he faced the incoming wolves.

Recalling his victory over the dark crow, he calmed down and swiftly evaded an incoming attack.

Feeling the large paw slap against the round shield, he took a step back and stabbed at the enemy with his sword.

The silver wolf reacted in an instant, and the cleaving sword missed its mark.

The injured wolf, recovering from the lung attack, struck again. Green avoided its clumsy silver claw and stabbed at its head.

And this time, the wolf couldn't dodge, and he managed to drive into its eyes, instantly blinding it.

Stepping to the side, he avoided the ferocious jaws of a silver wolf and continued his attack on the injured opponent.

With three consecutive stabs, the wolf's face turned into a sieve, and it collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

"Yes!"

Green cheered after he took it down.

But his sudden grounding gave the beasts a chance, and a silver wolf lunged at him.

"Agggghhh!"

The horrible and terrifying pain from the silver claws was so great that he screamed in pain. Stumbling backward, he felt the agonizing searing pain from his left leg.

With a grimace, he pushed away the vicious strike towards his face and felt his back press against the wall.

"Damn! This is bad."

Green felt horrified. He was injured, and there were still two silver wolves attacking him.

His eyes sank, and his blood boiled.

"Why am I excited?"

The adrenaline rush in his body made him ignore the pain from his leg as he faced the incoming wolves.

Rolling away from the deadly lunge, he threw his shield at the face of the next attacker. While it was dazed, he picked up the short spear from the ground.

Twisting his entire upper body, Green threw the spear with all his might.

"Wooosh!"

The sound of the spear shooting forward was like a whistle.

With great momentum, the spear sank into the eyeball of the silver wolf. The powerful blow was too great, and the enemy collapsed to the ground.

"Success!"

Green cheered as only one enemy remained.

The sole silver wolf was battered after two consecutive battles; it growled angrily and lunged at him.

Green rolled away from the attack.

The silver wolf didn't stop and ferociously attacked once again. Green couldn't get up, and he was forced to continue rolling around on the bloodied ground.

After escaping multiple claw attacks, Green jumped up, and deflecting the wolf's paw, he jammed his sword into its neck.

Green jumped back immediately and watched as the wolf thrashed around in anger.

The struggle of an enemy at the end of its life was always desperate and terrifying.

Its vitality exhausted, the silver wolf finally collapsed to the ground and died.

The space grew eerily silent, and the only sound was Green's deep breaths.

"Aggh!! Damn, it hurts so much!"

Green sat on the ground exhausted. His adrenaline rush had subsided, and the painful wound on his leg made him feel like he was about to die.

He opened the status and checked his health.

HP: 75/125 (100/150)

Green gritted his teeth, and turning to the bodies of the dead monsters, he dragged his body to the middle of the corpse-filled ground.

Opening his mouth, he softly uttered the activation chant for the [Rejuvenation] skill.

"Vor'Threa Eldrath'rin."

Suddenly, a golden circle appeared at his feet. It was the size of a large wheel, and in it were inscribed numerous mysterious symbols.

Green was startled; he opened his eyes wide and looked at the magical scene.

The golden circle shimmered in a blinding bright light, and suddenly a number of golden roots emerged from it.

The golden roots were as thick as a finger and had a length of 5 meters.

The golden roots slithered out from the golden circle; there were seventeen of them, and each one instantly shot towards the monster bodies on the ground.

Under the astonished eyes of Green, the troll's body at his foot shriveled up after only a few seconds and finally turned into fine white particles.

The same was the case for the other bodies pierced by the golden roots. The white particles floated up into the air and quickly sank into the golden magic circle.

Feeling the boundless vitality rushing into his body, Green hurried to check his health.

HP: 105/125 (130/150)

Green was overjoyed; the unique skill Rejuvenation was awesome. He had regained 20% of his maximum health (150), which meant 30 HP. The whole process didn't take long, only ten seconds.

He raised a thumbs up and watched as the magic circle disappeared into thin air.

Opening the skill, the cooldown had already begun.

Unfortunately, he could only use this wonderful ability once every three days.

"If only rejuvenation could be used without a cooldown."

But this was just a fool's dream. He knew that there could never be such a broken skill that would fall on his lap without him having to pay a heavy price.

Rising to his feet, Green retrieved his sword, shield, and spear.

The ground around him was covered in blood, revealing the battle that had taken place here.

"Since I entered the labyrinth, it had only been two hours or less, and I can still complete the task in time."

He had already taken down ten goblins; he only needed ten more to obtain his rewards.

Thirty minutes later, Green found a mid-sized cave with four goblins.

Although he had regained some health points, Green was cautious and tried his luring method.

Unfortunately, the other goblins were alerted, and he engaged in a battle with the four goblins.

As he had become familiar with the tactics employed by the green creatures, Green dispatched them without much trouble.

Excited, Green rushed to another goblin cave and found one with 10 minutes.

The seven goblins inside were very tough, but he still managed to take them down after enduring some damage.

But, when he took down the last goblin, the expected task completion notification did not arrive.

"I killed twenty goblins, so why?"

Confused, Green continued hunting down goblins. After discovering a mid-sized cave with five goblins, the quest notification finally sounded.

In fact, the sound of notification didn't stop for a long time.

Green was shocked, and he opened the panel to take a look.
