Chapter 26 : Survivors

Chapter 26 : Survivors

Green was startled.

Except for the survivors from the 6th floor, some new faces were mixed in, including a spectacle-wearing fat man and a tall man with a muscular build. Both held vigilant looks as they eyed Green's weird appearance.

Although surprised, Green ignored them and walked to the bloodied survivor. The man's right arm was full of claw marks, with flesh hanging on his mutilated arm.

His face contorted in agony, and his forehead was covered in sweat.

The woman cried as she held his hand and the man with similar appearance was attempting to bandage the wounded area.

Under the puzzled eyes of the Zhang family and teary woman, Green silently led the wounded man into the bathroom. There, Green reached into his pockets and fished out a small vial with a red liquid.

Under the curious gaze of the man, Green poured the content onto the terrifying wound.

Miraculously, the terrible clawed wound began closing rapidly, with the skin tissue, muscle, and bone healing in a surprisingly quick process. Finally, after a few minutes, there was only a large black scab left where the wound had been. Afterwards, even the black scab fell down and revealed the smooth skin underneath.

The man with the shaved head was left speechless by this magical scene. He opened his mouth wide, but no words came out.

Green breathed a sigh of relief when he saw this scene. The level 3 HP potion he obtained from the skeleton task had come in handy.

This survivor didn't have to endure a slow and painful death afterall.

But now came the probelm, how would he explain to the group of survivors outside?

Green was unwilling to reveal anything about the labyrinth, but how else would he explain this miraculous healing?

"Maybe I could say it was a special ability of mine." Yes, this simple explanation was the only solution Green could come up with on the spot.

The people outside were curious as they eyed the closed bathroom door. The two men had gone in for some time and there was no audible movement inside.

They looked at each other, confusion painting the Zhang family people. Fortunately, they didn't have to wait another second.

With a creak, the bathroom opened, and the two men walked out. Everyone was shocked as they stared at the survivor behind Green. The deep claw marks on the man's hand had disappeared and only smooth skin remained.

Green cleared his throat. After gathering everyone's attention, he threw out the solution he had thought up.

"This is a special ability of mine. I can heal wounds, but the duration of use after each use is lengthy and I can't use it infintely."

This was it and there was no follow up information.

At the end of the day, Green didn't care if the group of survivors believed his explanation. Adding the cool down time for his 'ability' was merely an attempt to dissuade the thoughts of some people. He didn't want to be disturbed every time someone got a cold or a stomachache.

And it wasn't really a lie, he didn't posses an infinite number of HP potions. The use of the HP potion to heal the injured man was purely because of a spur of the moment decision on his part.

Still, Green didn't regret his decision to use the precious potion on the injured survivor. Although the HP potion was a valuable item, he didn't think it was a mistake to use it to save another persons life at a critical moment.

Jiù rén yīmìng, shèng zào qī jí fútǔ. Saving one life is better than building a seven-story pagoda.

At the same time, Green confidence grew because of his new abilities and skills. The [Troll's Vitality], [Rejuvenation] unique skill and [Eldrathrin's Mark] gave him enough courage.

Zhang Yuling looked at Green's serious expression and frowned. This person was becoming more and more weird each time she saw him.

Although the other survivors were curious, looking at Greens blank face, they held back their questions.

The awkward silence didn't last long.

Zhang Jiahao jumped out, cheerfully introducing himself to the new survivors. He didn't stop after introducing himself, as he continued on to Zhang Guoling, Zhang Yuling and Green.

Looking at the teenagers excited face, the survivors finally calmed down and began to share their own information.

First of all, the man Green had healed was called Chen Wei. This man that had bravely stood against the humongous crow was only a software engineer before the apocalypse. The other man who looked similar to him was his younger brother, Chen Yu. The woman with short hair was Chen Wei's wife, Yang Qian.

When the apocalypse descended, there were another two elderly people in their house. However, they both turned into zombies and the only reason they escaped was because of Chen Yu's quick reaction. He had closed the door to their room just before the elderly undead could rush out. They had managed to survive through the first month in the apocalypse by rationing their available food.

Among the other survivors, the fat spectacle-wearing man, Wang Bo was an online video host.

As an internet addict, Wang Bo was quite familiar with concepts like zombies and he was cautious from the very beginning and don't dare to leave his apartment.

Because he didn't go outside much, even before the apocalypse, he always had noodle boxes in his house. Wang Bo ate instant noodles for a whole month while anxiously waiting for a military rescue.

Unfortunately, the government had not intervened till this day.

Green turned to the last survivor, Wang Tao.

This muscular survivor was not a soldier or bodybuilder as he had expected.

Surprisingly, Wang Tao worked as a cook and was employed at the very restaurant where Green used to work as a delivery man.

Looking at the faces of the malnourished survivors, Green sighed in confusion.

He was really surprised; there were more survivors than he had expected.

In the beginning, he felt like he was the only survivor in the whole building, but now so many others had come out. Maybe he had underestimated the survival capabilities of ordinary people?

In fact, Green always saw himself as an optimist. Perhaps the arrival of the end times had changed his nature?

Where there even more survivors trapped in the building? Green shook his head, he didn't want to continue thinking about this.

Surveying the house, there were nine adults standing around, making the living room look small and cramped.

The awkward situation didn't last long.

The zombies began to cause a ruckus once again, throwing the whole community into a myriad of noise and battle sounds.

Green realized that the noise outside the door had stopped; he could finally go home.

However before walking out, he talked with the Zhang family and other survivors. They decided that the newcomers would stay in the empty houses on the 10th floor for quick communication and a sense of comfort in the zombie-infested building.

After making all the arrangements, Green walked back to the sixth floor. The crystals he left behind couldn't just be left in the heads of the zombies.

Looking around, there were no zombies. Green walked out leisurely, squatting down, he retrieved all the crystals from the undead; exactly six of them, 1 yellow, 3 red, and 2 white crystals. Crashing them between his hands, a large amount of experience flowed in.

Green opened his status, looking at the rising exp; he was happy. Level 7 should not be far away.

On the way home, Green suddenly remembered something and stopped at the 8th floor. Walking into 807, he moved towards the weights on the side. Yes, he wanted to check his strength.

Although Green realized he was getting stronger with each level up, he couldn't quantify his strength with actual measurements. Right now, he wanted to test his level 6 strength using these weights.

'Gym Monster' was clearly a bodybuilding enthusiast, and there were all sorts of weights on the rack. Dumbelss, barbells and various other machines that he couldn't recognise.

Green started with a 20 kg dumbbell; curling it felt easy, like lifting a small book.

As he moved on to heavier weights, each lift seemed effortless. When he effortlessly picked up the 100 kg dumbbell with one hand, he realized he had underestimated the strength of the level 6 Warrior.

Since there were no heavier dumbbells, he switched to two-handed weights.

The barbell had colorful plates on the side. Green carefully stacked four red plates on each side, until he had a 200 kg barbell infront of him.

With a casual attempt, Green lifted the 200kg weight overhead with a single fluid motion. The weight in his hands felt easy, almost like he was picking up a small dog instead of a heavy barbell.

Looking at the remaining weights, Green knew that they couldn't test him further, but he had some idea behind his level 6 strength, and his confidence grew.
