Green peered out from behind his hiding spot and was surprised by the situation on the 8th floor.
There weren't any zombies stumbling around in the corridors.
Being careful, Green cautiously walked forward. He could see one of the houses' door was wide open, and another nearby also had its doors ajar.
Zhang Guoling was just behind him, observing several zombies with their heads bashed in by some blunt object, scattered all over the ground.
Green saw this gruesome scene, and he was puzzled.
[This should be done by another survivor, right?]
Green turned to Zhang Guoling, put his finger on his lips, and motioned him to hide behind the wall.
Green crept close to room 807; loud groans were heard from inside. He then tiptoed to the other open house.
[Did the zombies from below rush over here?]
Green stared at the narrow door, and he had an idea.
[I need to stay quiet.]
He entered the other open house and came out with the biggest thing he could find.
He emerged with a sofa, carefully placing it at the entrance, completely blocking the narrow exit.
[This should do. It will hold them back for just a few seconds.]
Green used his sword, slapping it several times against the wooden door.
''Bang! Bang! Bang!''
He succeeded; the loud groans in the room stopped, and the noisy shuffling of feet followed.
Green readied his sword as he stood behind the large couch.
The undead didn't take long to rush towards the noise; Green counted at least six of them squeezing through the narrow path leading up to the door.
[Okay, good!]
His sword shot forward, piercing the head of the first zombie. Green watched in disgust as the yellow fluid poured out of its head when he withdrew his sword. The defeated foe was pressed against the couch; it couldn't fall, offering further blockade against the other zombies.
Green swung his sword again, killing another two zombies.
He didn't strike again, jumping back to safely evade the incoming zombies.
The undead had overcome the obstacle and spilled out of the door.

Green stepped forward and easily decapitated a short, male zombie that had fallen to the ground. The remaining two zombies attacked sluggishly, but Green sidestepped and escaped their sharp claws.
''Look out!''
Green heard Zhang Guoling's distressed voice coming from behind and turned his head to look at the incoming zombie.
[Arnold Schwarzenegger?]
The incoming undead was physically intimidating, over 190cm, with muscles in its arms like large watermelons and the rest of the body covered in twisting gray muscle.
It had on a black vest with the word [Gym Monster], now smeared red in blood. Green noticed the peculiar scarlet eyes as it rushed over, knocking the couch and other zombies aside.
The zombies slapped away had their heads smashed in by the enormous strength of the buff zombie and didn't get up.
Green was startled by its crimson eyes but composed himself and decided to strike first.
He lunged forward and stabbed for the [Gym Monster's] head.
The crimson-eyed zombie appeared to be more agile than the white-eyed undead and jumped away to dodge. It used its long black nails and swiped at his chest.
Green's eyes turned cold as he felt the force on his chest. It reminded him of the giant rat's tail whips.
[This red-eyed zombie should probably be a second-level monster.]
Perhaps, he was taken back by its large stature; another swipe arrived on his armor-covered chest.
Feeling the impact from his chest, he took a step backward.
Green glared at the fierce Gym Monster, he raised his sword to fight back but then leaped, rolling to the side at the last moment before the crimson-eyed zombie could pounce.
[Aha! you dare turn your back!]
Green jumped up and kicked the muscular zombie in the back.
However, it didn't fall down as he expected. It turned around with a ferocious face, and he could barely dodge another strike from the enemy.
[Damn!]
The claws were just a few inches from his face!
[Things can't go on like this.]
Green ducked another overhand swipe, and his sword flashed forward.
In the end, [Gym Monster] couldn't offer any more resistance. He watched as its crimson eyes froze, its head detached from the muscular upper body, and then rolled away slowly.
[What a tough guy.]
Green clicked his tongue. If he wasn't a level four warrior, there would be no way to withstand its powerful blows.
Indeed, the crimson-eyed undead proved to be a formidable foe. In fact, it was the strongest zombie he had seen so far. What would happen if it evolved even more?
[We have to clean up the building quickly!]
Zhang Guoling had seen the whole fight and shook his head.
(This person is a real god of killing.)
The way he handled the zombies was too professional.
During the whole fight, Zhang Guoling hid and only shouted once to alert Green.
This was not to say that he was cowardly, Zhang Guoling felt that if he carelessly went out to kill the zombies, he would only cause more trouble than actually help in the fighting.
Zhang Guoling watched as Green squatted down beside the fallen zombies and used his sword to pry open their heads.
[It is slightly red.]
Green held the crystal from the [Gym Monster] and observed that it was slightly different from the other crystals.
There were also another seven crystals from all the zombies scattered on the ground.
《Exp gained + 7》
《Exp gained + 5》
《Exp gained + 5》
《Exp gained + 5》
Indeed, the red-eyed zombie corresponds to level 2 and provided 7 Exp.
He kept the other three crystals and handed a crystal to Zhang Guoling.
Zhang Guoling looked at the crystal in his hand surprised and opened his mouth to decline but stayed silent when he saw Green walk away.
There were no longer any zombies in the room, and Green confidently stepped into the house.
Green observed the living room.
The house was a bit larger than his unit. There were opened cans and noodle packets all over the ground, messing up the otherwise nice house with good decoration.
There was a small gym to the side with a number of barbells and other equipment.
[Wait, is this Gym Monster's house?]
Green thought, looking at the heavy weights.
Walking to a part of the room, Green saw a sunken door that was still locked.
[This should lead out to the verandah.]
The two men heard the silent cry from behind the door and they exchanged a silent glance.
Green stepped forward and knocked lightly. There was no answer.
Zhang Guoling finally seemed to realize that he could do something and went forward.
"Miss Liu? We are here to rescue you. Open the door."
The person on the other side grew silent.
Zhang Guoling, frustrated, tried to call her again, but the door didn't open, and Liu Mei was still quiet.
[This person should be too scared to come out, right?]
Green sighed. He looked at his watch; they couldn't just stand around.
Zhang Guoling wanted to persuade her again, but Green stopped him.
"The zombies have been killed by us; you can come out now."
"Hey, I know you're in there, open the door before I kick it down!"
"If you don't say anything, we will leave immediately! Do you want to feed the zombies?"
Green mixed some threats in his persuasion; the door suddenly moved, and a woman in a red shirt came out with a tear-stained face.
Liu Mei had a slightly oval face, her messy hair covered most of her face, and Green could see that she was still frightened as her shoulders trembled uncontrollably.
Green sighed, looking at the fearful Liu Mei. He didn't know how to confront her.
Zhang Guoling, as a former policeman, knew how to communicate with people in distress and managed to calm her down using a few words.
The three people walked out of the house. When they passed by Gym Monster's body, Liu Mei froze, and large tears formed in her eyes.
She knelt next to the headless body and wept in grief.
Green and Zhang Guoling were dumbfounded; their expressions changed.
Before they could intervene, a loud roar suddenly echoed. Then a cacophony of sound suddenly arose all around, startling the three.
