Chapter 16

“Well, you certainly know how to make a good first impression.” Dyllan stared cautiously at the mysteriously monochrome Andie-like girl. The Nightmare was gone, but she hadn’t put away her weapon. “Don’t suppose you feel like explaining who you are, why you’re here, and what exactly -”

“Wait.” Normal Andie cut off Dyllan. “Do you hear something?”

Dyllan stopped. He really did hear something. It was a faint, distant voice - and though he couldn’t make out what it was yet, it was getting louder and clearer. Someone or something was out there, and it was rapidly getting closer.

“- UUUUUUUUUUCK -” The approaching entity hurtled onto Andie’s duplicate. He was totally monochrome, just like imitation Andie. He even had the same wolf ears and tail made out of black energy. The only difference was that he resembled Dyllan, not Andie. “ - YOU!” Imitation Dyllan leapt off of his startled landing pad and toward his chromatic counterpart.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

There was no time to dodge imitation Dyllan’s attack, but normal Dyllan didn’t need to dodge. He had a magic shield and martial arts training. Granted, Dyllan’s sensei hadn’t exactly prepared him for an evil doppelganger turned projectile careening towards him at incredible speeds, but he managed to deflect the incoming assailant all the same.

“Rrraaarrgh! It’s not fair!” Imitation Dyllan picked himself up off of the ground and dusted himself off. “I’m supposed to have all of Dyllan’s violent tendencies! So how come you get all the judo training, and I get squat!?”

“ ‘All of Dyllan’s…’ What? What are you babbling about? And judo isn’t violence, it’s a method of self discipline!” Dyllan ran toward his evil double, getting ready to throw him again.

Imitation Dyllan’s face suddenly lit up, his frustrated scowl switching into a malicious grin. “So you say…”

Dyllan grabbed the arm of his monochromatic foe. Now he just needed to… Wait, how did that throw go again? Dyllan seemed to have forgotten how it worked, alongside everything else he’d ever learned in judo class.

Imitation Dyllan grabbed his chromatic counterpart and hurled him over his shoulder - in a perfect judo throw. “…but it seems you’re starting to have your doubts.”
