Book 4 Chapter Thirty-Six; the Way of a Master

Tango shuddered, the hall he was in was bloody. It was everywhere, he was even covered with it himself, he had fought a bloody battle. Sweat poured from every orifice, and he winced in pain. For the cuts and wounds he had were now mixing with the salt in his sweat and bothering him.

But he didn’t have time for that, as if on cue, the system chimed in announcement, and he willed the screen to appear before him.

The system asked and from his ring he pulled the core, which crackled with the energy of hundreds of storms. He was apprehensive at first, but it was a powerful item and he needed to ensure he established solid foundations.

Had found a tier IV storm colossus core in a treasure trove. Thankfully he hadn't had to fight storm colossus itself, it was a creature of true strength. It was the evolved form of the eye of a greater storm. The storms it had coalesced to evolve, now fought, and burst with thunder bolts and shards of chaos within the core.

He consumed it, pulling it into his very being and he felt it meld into his mind. The storms broke free, and his mind was wracked with arcs of thunder and bolts of lightning burst all around. Sizzling across his mind and scalp, he hissed to himself and fought back with all his will. He struggled and fought the storm as it melded into his mind, the storm strengthening his brain. Energising his reaction speed and his senses with arcs of Mana and thunder, agility and dexterity was what he had built his strength around and it seemed that this core was augmenting them.

He willed another core out of his ring, pulling it to spin in his own core this time. The core of a master dreadnought to forge his body and embolden it. He needed to be sturdier, stronger, and made hardy and sterner.

The core merged with his body, he yelped, cried out as the fire blood of the core etched itself into his bones. He struggled, he suffered and whimpered as his body reconstructed itself with the blood from the core of the dreadnought.

He sweated and coughed up a wad of blood. His body was breaking down and he had almost fainted from it. But he was not going to, he grit his teeth. He clenched his teeth, forcing the core to hurry its journey around his body. He fought back, urging it forward and willing his body to break down quicker.

The blood began to dwindle, and he felt his own merging with the final parts of it, whereas the majority had been used to reforge his bones. He was sweating even more, but he felt his body grow in mass. He had added muscle, he felt his sinews and muscle chords grow. The cuts and wounds he had before, closed and knitted back together.

From his ring, he pulled out the form of a cream and white coloured wing. it was beautiful and even in the cramped hall that he was in. The wing was still bigger, it was the fourth wing of a four-wing concord a beast of the skies. A giant avian and predatory bird, Tango had killed it in a group and only asked for the wing as one of the rewards. He knew he would use it and incorporate it into a tier tribulation. He knew it would boost his agility and dexterity.

The wing levitated and then floated into him; he felt his spirit mesh with it. shrinking it down and taking on the affinity of the air and wind from the wing. He felt weightless and he shuddered under the dauntlessness of the feeling. There was no pain this time, only comfort. His spirit was soft, and the wing was simply introduced to him, a wind symphony being orchestrated by the system. The wing melded and merged with him completely and he felt his dexterity and agility leap.

Finally, he was ready. The last item appeared, and he shivered, before pulling it into himself. He hadn't dealt with his soul much, hadn't thought anything of it at all. But now he was curious as to how he would change. But it hummed, hungry for an addition.

He pulled the draught bottle into his being, it sank past his core and lower, into a space he had never been aware of before. The cork popped and the essence floated from the draught bottle like a mist, before dispersing gently. But his back arched, he shuddered with the intensity of the feeling, his soul was growing, drinking, and connecting with all parts of his body. Unifying whilst also forming unbreakable links of unity.

The essence of the wild hunt had cost him almost fifty platinum coins. A hard expense, but the item was well worth it. in truth he had planned to use it his spirit, but his soul seemed the better choice now. The wild hunt were spirits of wind, chaos, and death. His soul was the part of him that seemed in tune with chaos and death. It latched onto the essence, devouring all of it.

He was ready to return home now. Ready to return and be useful to Jazmel, he was happy even. He got up, stepped, and felt his body almost float across the ground, he would have to get used to this. His body was different, it felt more refined, he had to use less of his will to move than before. He would practice and then return home.

He drew his blades and left the hall, there were still creatures to kill here. He would use them as training.
