Book 4 Chapter Eighteen; of Home Truths

Returning to his room with some struggled steps, refusing help from Baek. Jazmel finally sat on his bed and now that he was away and out of sight, he laid across the bed and sighed.

“You do need to rest some more, you pushed yourself in that battle.” He heard Baek said and craning his neck to look at him, he could see him sitting at the small table that was in the room.

“You have grown considerably since I last saw.” He told Jazmel and Jazmel threw a thumbs up to show he accepted the compliment.

“I am most shocked to see that you have undergone a body tempering.” He said and that made Jazmel raise himself up and look at Baek who was watching him intently.

“I take it you underwent a body tempering too?” Jazmel said and Baek nodded, then shrugged. He was a master after all. Jazmel had wanted to speak with Baek about this for a while now, so he simply leant across the bed and told him what had happened to him. from the main members taking down the three headed hydra, to the attack on the outpost, he finally told him about the primordial and Baek sat calmly and watched Jazmel intently. He said nothing whilst Jazmel spoke and then finally he waited until he was finished and then he spoke.

“A great deal has occurred with you since I have been gone.” Baek said calmly and then he took a moment before speaking on the things he had just heard.

“To undergo your tempering so quickly is unheard of. I don’t think anyone had undergone tempering in as a first-tier ranker. but I am not surprised, by what I have seen of you. You have undergone a great deal of curious moments within the labyrinth. What tempered body did you gain?” he asked, and Jazmel told him about the domineering tyrant body.

“That does sound particular for yourself. Tempered bodies allow you to continue to better yourself and function with your skills and better attributes, a normal human cannot have the amount of Mana a Ranker or Master will eventually gain.” He explained to Jazmel , in truth this all made sense to him. But he was still worried.

“Have you heard of anyone becoming another race?” he asked and Baek perked up. “Did you change? Did yours change?” Jazmel sighed and felt a weight drop from his shoulders and then he opened his stats and showed his screen.

BAEK LVL 113

Baek looked at the screen for a moment and then looked over them again. He looked at Jazmel and for a moment just studied his face.

“Young master, Jazmel . You are growing at extraordinary speed; I am not sure I can even understand what’s happening with you. In rare cases, I have seen species change. But the effects had been bodily true, have you changed?” he asked, and Jazmel shook his head.

“When my body tempered, the system told me it found harmony with the tyrant heart. that spurred on the change to my species.” He explained and Baek nodded as if it made sense to him.

“I had forgotten you had the tyrant heart. Yes, in some instances the system will change things. Especially if it thinks you will gain further advancements when it finds harmony for you.” He told Jazmel who listened to him readily.

“It would seem that the system is pushing you to pursue greater advancements.” Baek surmised and he nodded as if it made sense to him.

“I think we should push into the labyrinth, the further we head in. The chances of greater opportunities and further advancements.” Baek told Jazmel .

“I should tell you; your father is heading deeper into the labyrinth. He called us all home to let us know he was going to aim for the 100th floor and so those who would like to try with him. they were to advance as much as they could. I told him I was preparing myself for a tier tribulation and hunting down the items. But in truth, I am not there yet and if I am to push for that, I will have to leave you. But for now, it is better if I stay close.” Baek explained and what followed was sheer silence, but then Jazmel could hear the thundering beat of his heart. he was motivated, his father or the man that could be his father was aiming for the monarch tier. He needed to catch him quickly before, what if something happened to him. Jazmel was incentivised, he wouldn’t lose both parents. Not now that he had the chance to know one of them.

“Who was my mother? Truly??” he asked and Baek looked at him for a moment before responding. “Why do you ask? Did you hear something?” Baek asked in kind and Jazmel shook his head.

“No, but I received a plot to find out the truth, so I need to know if you know anything.” He asked again and Baek sat quietly before continuing.

“The labyrinth has many species that stay deeper in the labyrinth. Much deeper and your mother was such. Or the woman I believe to be your mother.” Baek said, trying not to get Jazmel ’s feelings filled with hope.

“Your mother was a godling, a human like race of denizen. They are powerful beings, enriched with the Mana of the labyrinth. She and your father met when she was a seeker and he the same, they were a part of a party for many years before they got together, he married her and still continued to enter the labyrinth beside her.” He explained and a kind smile fluttered across his face as he thought back on memories.

“Why would someone kill her?” he asked and Baek grew serious.

“I cannot tell you why, I cannot tell you who had animosity for her. If I am honest, it might not have even been for her, they might have been trying to hurt your father and she and you were the only way anyone could.” He deduced.

Jazmel started clenching his fist and Baek calmed him, a breeze of Mana flushed the room. Drawing Jazmel from his stupor.

“Do not worry about days gone, prepare for your own future. Your father is strong, much stronger than we know, I am sure he probably could defeat the 100th floor on his own already. We just need to get to the kingdom and meet with him.” Baek expressed to him, and Jazmel nodded, calming himself down and trying to breathe through his pain from haunted memories he no longer had.

“We will look for information on your species change also. But if what you said about the primordial is truly happening. Then I think, we might be seeing a lot more uncommon things within the labyrinth.” Baek offered, Jazmel agreed with him.

“Did I ever tell you about the fountain?” Jazmel said and Baek shook his head, a little concerned. He took that moment to tell him about it and then share that Mirete had told him that it had something to do with the primordial also. He then showed Baek the shard of the primordial core and Baek studied it with wonder.

“You are still too naïve in your understanding of Mana; your eyes show you a great deal. But you are yet to see the entirety of it, the power in that shard is exuding more Mana then I can even create. If the primordial had core’s like that? They were far stronger than master tier, maybe even monarch also.” He offered, showing the palms of his hands and Jazmel studied them, before acknowledging that the world was much larger than he had previously thought.

“We will rest, then I am entering the labyrinth again.” Jazmel uttered and Baek rose up, inclining his head in respect and then letting Jazmel , his young master rest.

Jazmel laid back on his bed and started to meditate, trying to find peace before he slept.
