Jazmel entered the city and much to the description of Tango. He found the city like Ladnipor, and it unnerved him. He didn’t have good memories of that place.
“Baek where is the best auction in the city?” Jazmel asked and Baek thought for a moment as they stood in the street and crowds of people waltzed pass them.
“The Jade family have the best auction house; they charge a steep price though.” Baek said and he nodded.
“I have many items I need to sell; I also have the full ring of the SK hunter still. I plan to sell them all here.” he explained and Baek nodded, turning on his heel he made his way to the auction, leading the way. Tango assumed the rear and seemed to be acting as security for Jazmel and the princess.
They walked for almost an hour when Jazmel saw the auction house. Which was barely a house and more of a mansion or a hall. The guards at the gate were big, scarred warriors. They didn’t release their Mana, but the pressure of their presence alone, seemed to scare away those who were not worthy. When they spotted Baek, they noticed him immediately and welcomed him in. Jazmel saw coins be handed over, but he couldn’t count just how much it had cost to be allowed in.
“Welcome to the Jade auction hall!” a woman in a tiny dress said as she welcomed them in. Sadé looked at her strangely, but Jazmel simply looked everywhere but her dress, it barely covered anything.
“We want to sit in on the auction, but I also want to sell items.” He said and she grinned at him, she went to link his arm, but Sadé moved between them and linked his arm instead.
“I will show you to our curator. You can show him your items now and then another will gather you for the seating area.” She explained and she beckoned for them to follow her.
She led them to a stairway and ascending one floor, she led them to a closed door. When opened a little old mans at a table with white gloves on and waiting. Jazmel entered last, the woman smiled and winked at him. closing the door for them.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
He checked the ring of the ranker who had tried to rob them again and noticed the coins. He took them into his own ring.
Jazmel sat at the chair that faced the desk the curator was sat at. He placed the ring on the table and the curator touched it, his Mana creeping into the ring and checking all of the items.
“There are great items in there, in here. You could have kept them all and used them to advance.” he said, his eyes suddenly fierce and curious.
“We decided against using the ring, the items were not earned. They were stolen, we caught the thief, but his victims are already gone.” Jazmel explained, not going into further detail.
“I admire the respect you live with. But the labyrinth is not so forgiving, remember that if not anything else.” He said and Jazmel listened to him.
“I will give you 100 platinum coins for the ring I have already taken the 15% we take for selling on the items.” He said, Jazmel accepted. He probably deserved more, but he genuinely wanted to get rid of the ring.
He took half of it and offered it to Sadé, but she waved him away.
“My mother gave me some money when I left.” She said and Jazmel wondered how much money a queen could give. He conceded and took the entirety of it and added it to his ring.
“do you have other items?” he asked and Jazmel nodded, going into his own ring, he took all the weapons he had earned and put them on the table.
TIER III BELL RINGER LONG HAFTED AXE
TIER III BLACKENED REAPING SCYTHE
The curator whistled; he checked each item. Carefully checking the weight and the balance of them. Jazmel was surprised to see him pick up the axe, but he hefted it with no problem.
“These are wonderful.” He said, quietly but Jazmel heard him.
“I will pay you 100 platinum coins for them both.” He said, a wry smile on his lips. Jazmel hadn't expected to get that much but he accepted.
“Nothing else to sell?” he asked and Jazmel shook his head, the others didn’t have items they wanted to part with.
“Well thank you for your customer service and enjoy the auction.” He offered and the door knocked, and another attendant was waiting to take them to their seats for the auction.
The auction hall was much like the others Jazmel had frequented since he had entered the labyrinth. Large walls and high ceilings box office seats imbedded into the walls, so anonymous buyers could buy items without people knowing who they were.
He had PTSD from those high box office rooms. No he decided to stay in the belly of the audience. Baek and Tango didn’t question his decision and instead led the way, finding a comfortable spot, not too far from the front. But not enough to be crowded in, Jazmel was comfortable, and he placed himself behind Sadé and gave her enough room to stand at the forefront.
