40: Sunlight Absorption

Meanwhile, Sam excitedly led the way with John following calmly. Lily on the other hand was excited and very curious about everything but she didn't speak much other than when asking questions.

Three of them walked out of the village via the old mud house and reached the forest area to the west of the village.

After a few hundred meters away from the village, John stopped walking anymore and looked around. Sam on the other hand hissed on a particular while looking without blinking.

Lily looked at both of them worriedly, as she didn't understand what they were doing. But remained silent as she didn't want them to think she was different from them. So she also copied Sam's action and hissed.

~Hiss~

But the sound she made didn't look like snake snakes hissing and ended up sounding something funny. Sam stared at her and asked doubtfully, “What are you doing?”

Lily looked sideways and replied with an embarrassed expression “Nothing.”

John smiled lightly and didn't expose her to his brother. Just as they continued to produce hissing sound, nearby bushes rustled slightly and a bunch of snakes poked out their heads.

There was about five snakes appeared to their summoning. Both John and Sam have knowledge about most of the snake's habits and language since they are young and can summon a snake if they need it. But they need to practice it daily otherwise they will forget what they obtained innately.

So they would practice their skills in their free time outside the village so as not to scare others in the village. Since he decided to accept Lily into their small gang, he also decided to show some of their real abilities in front of her.

To give her courage with their extraordinary abilities and also not to scare her out in the future with outlandish abilities.

Lily looked at a bunch of snakes with a scared expression on her face. She slowly took backward steps in fear, suddenly she felt a pair of hands supporting her back.

John helped her stand firm and explained patiently “We were born with the ability to communicate with the snakes and could understand what they say.”

Lily calmed down and stood a little far away from both of them and observed what they were doing. John didn't say anything to her, just did what they used to do daily.

Sam communicated with a meter-long venomous black snake with concentrated expression. As this was the snake he was communicating with it since it was very young.

While John communicated with a colorful finger-sized snake with a curious expression on his face.

He found this snake was different from most poisonous snakes. It could inject a few drops of poison which was much more poisonous than most of the snakes he had seen. So he decided to play with this snake while his brother tamed one of the snakes.

Lily also became comfortable with the snake's presence and touched some non-venomous small snakes.

Just like that three of them spent their afternoon and returned to their respective homes after getting tired from their physical activities.

In John's home, Sam was already in deep sleep. John was sitting outside the home entry in a trance as he called out the data panel.

Talent: Endless growth(0%), Infinite adaption(0%) ]

He decided that he would use infinite adaptation talent as he wanted to integrate into human society and learn everything they know about this world. If he used endless growth it would only help him grow faster and would result in unnecessary situations.

And he also has a target he wants to adopt to gain a particular ability he is very interested in. But he didn't know if it would succeed, even so, he decided to try it once.

John looked at the orange-yellow sun in the sky with a focused expression as he consumed the energy stored in his body activated his Infinite Adaptation talent and pushed it towards what he desired.

Suddenly his body began to heat at a rapid pace, his black scales glowed in a slight red colour which was not visible. John began to feel the heat that he had never felt, but he still persisted with a determined expression.

Suddenly a cool energy spread all over his body as the stored energy in his began to drop at a rapid pace.

A few minutes later, the heating body and cooling energy all stopped with the energy stored being lost in this adaptation process.

John let out a gasp with a dry mouth and walked inside his house to drink some water to replenish the lost water content in his body. After quenching his thirst, John walked, sat in an empty living room, and looked at what he had gained.

Infinite Adaptation (Sunlight 1%)

New Skill: Heat Resistance Lvl 1

John looked at the newly gained with an immense ambition and expectations hidden in his eyes. The new talent somewhat gave confidence to the glorious future he had imagined.

With this new skill, John understood his new talent. His new talent was long-term investment type talent, it needs time to glow in his hands. He could probably gain a variety of talents and skills in his current life if he could use them to their full potential.

John returned to his room and slept on the straw mat with a tiredness. He overdid the energy in the adaptation process and his body needed some time to adapt to his new skill.

Every skill represents the rapid growth of a race on a scale of centuries and to accomplish feats like that in a single body in an hour or so would have an impact on the body. So he would need a lot of time to rest for some time.

Before he could use the infinite adaptation talent again. His talent could repair the DNA damage and mutations that happen in his body during the adaptation period. This is why he could adapt to most of the things and his endless growth talent also works in a way to ensure that he doesn't incur any incurable diseases by disposing of any mutations that were dangerous to the body.

With the double guarantee he could possibly undergo most of the mutations he wants with the help of the new talent.

After gaining the new skill, John continued to be outside the house and appeared in the presence of visible sunlight as much as possible to induce minute passive adaptation without actively using the infinite talent with the energy.

Even though he didn't gain any energy while being in the presence of the sun, he could feel the talent's heat resistance was increasing very slowly. With enough time, maybe this effort will lessen the energy required for the next active infinite adaptation activation.

The sun disappeared as two silvery white moons appeared in the sky. Everyone in the village slept in their home, after the tiring day.

Ten years later.

In a scorching sun, a group of kids from one to ten years old was playing together outside the old broken mud house under the shade of a large tree.

One black-scaled kid was sitting alone on top of the few remaining stable structures of the old mud house facing the sun directly without any protection.

Suddenly the ten-year-old black-scaled kid opened his eyes with a jolt and looked in front of him in a daze.

Infinite Adaptation (Sunlight 10%)

Heat resistance Lvl 10

John looked at what was appearing before him with a smile. He finally felt the results of staying in the sunlight as much as possible, even if he was ridiculed for it by others.

His Heat Resistance skill reached level 10 without the need for active activation of the talent. The little adaptation he accepted over the years resulted in heat resistance talent finally improving on its own.

John also felt that the Sunlight adaptation process would probably undergo some unforeseen good evolution with his sixth sense.

With so much expectation John activated his infinite talent in the presence of sunlight, Which resulted in an unknown reaction in his body that involved most of the parts of the body. His body began to morph and undergo unknown changes as some of the scales and blood were spilled out of his body.

Luckily he was on the top floor of the mudhouse which was hard to climb and no one else was present. Otherwise, this site alone would surely succeed in scaring most of the people.

John wreathed on the small mud floor for a few minutes and stopped only after a few minutes. His injured parts healed rapidly and he appeared as he was before, this was one of the side benefits of infinite adaptation in case of injuries during the active adaptation period.

John calmed down and felt something different about himself. So he calmed down and concentrated as new information appeared in his brain.
