Elder Henry then murmured in a silent voice "If it's him, it possible that he can read memories."
Then the elders conversed with each other and one of the elders looked at the crowd and ordered "George, come forward."
George nervously came forward without knowing what awaited him, he looked at the elder for follow-up. The elders didn't let down him, as the elder Henry asked him clearly "George, can you read memories of all animals?"
For this, George scratched the back of his head and said shyly "Elder, I can't read all the animal's memories. I can only read memories of the sea animals and I can't even command or control other animals other than sea creatures."
Hearing this, most of the tailed people in the crowd looked surprised. Their main ability is controlling and commanding all the animals. But George seems to only command and control sea animals, so they are a little disappointed. But then they all little relived, as George's ability doesn't outrightly overpower them.
Elder Henry showed a contemplative expression on his face and beckoned one of the guards to come forward, then he said something to him, and the guard departed from there. A few minutes later, the guard returned with a small creature that looked like a chicken, but it was not.
Elder Henry signaled the guard and George to come forward and asked George "Can you see what the guard had in his hand before picking up this animal?"
George nodded his head and walked towards the guard and light blue tail with fish scales and strong muscle stretched out from his back and attached itself to the two-legged flying beast. The two-legged flying beast was mostly kept in everyone's house in the settlement. This beast can produce two eggs a day and the egg is delicious to eat, so most people like to domesticate, and grow it in the house, to satisfy their daily needs.
The two-legged beast struggled a bit at the start, but the struggle of the beast diminished slowly. After a few moments, George closed his eyes and concentrated on accessing memories of the two-legged beast with his tail. Not much later, George opened his eyes and said to the elder Henry "The guard didn't carry anything other than what he carries now. But he has shown two fingers at the animal, before picking it up."
Elder Henry nodded his head at George, then turned around and said to the other elders and the crowd "I conducted a small test to confirm George's abilities. It seems George can read animal's memories for a short time. So, now let's hear about the snake, that George had seen."
George came forward and said to all of them with obvious fear in his eyes "After joining the patrol team, I patrolled around the island like others. But I was informed about the disappearance of the two members, so without wasting time, I used my ability on the nearby aquatic animals to find any clue."
Fear intensified in George after mentioning this, he took a moment to explain slowly "That's when I saw a very gigantic snake that's wider than our houses and larger than hundreds of us. It slithered back into the water and swam somewhere, that's all I can see from that particular animal's memory. After that, I saw many nearby aquatic animals memory to see more. In one such animal's memory, I found what happened on the shore. Both the missing members seemed to faint due to unknown reasons and the giant snake came out of the water swallowed them both and swam away."
Elder Henry nodded his head and said to George "Okay, you go back and stand with your team leader."
George obeyed the elder's words and returned, then the elder Henry explained to the crowd "Since you all heard what George had said, I won't beat around the bushes anymore. Even though, the animal didn't come to our settlement to hunt today. Who can say that will not come tomorrow? So, it's our responsibility to be prepared for everything. If you guys have any idea, speak now."

Even though he came to know George's ability, Elder Henry is not happy with satisfying his previous curiosity. As a large snake isn't something they can attack or kill with their current ability. Maybe, it is possible, if they are still in the kingdom? But they are not, so they have to think about how to survive now. If one day, the large snake decided to attack their settlement.
The other elders in the council, fishermen, and hunters all looked very ugly in the current situation. Only they know the consequences of a snake of that size. Even though, the chances of snake attacking their settlement are very low. Because the hunters and fishermen know, an animal that size needs to eat much more to survive.
The people in the settlement can only fill the animal's belly for a few days. So, that large snake's hunting range should be very large. Even so, the thought of their settlement being destroyed one day at random thought of hunger from the gigantic snake isn't good. After numerous discussions, they all come to the same conclusion, that they won't survive.
So people's emotions started to get out of control and most of them showed despaired expressions on their faces. Suddenly, one of the elders said "Since the snake's presence has been confirmed. Then is it the reason for the destruction in the village and the disappearance of animals?"
Hearing this speculation, the others who also thought so, showed panic on their faces. It becomes apparent that the snake is aware of their presence. So, most of the people began to panic even more. Seeing this, some other elders scolded the elder who brought up the topic of the snake's presence in the village.
For this, the elder replied with a frustrated expression on his face "Don't you guys understand, that the snake seems to hold any desire to eat us? There may be another reason for taking away two men. I also think the snake's presence on the island is much older."
Elder Samuel retorted him with a question "Why do you think so?"
The elder replied to him with a matter-of-fact tone "If we go back, much further. Didn't the hunters gossip about the waterways in the mountain suddenly enlarged a few meters, months ago? I think the snake is the reason for that too."
Elder Samuel became silent and thought about what the elder said to him. Others also began to think about it, Elder Henry's eyes brightened for a moment, as he thought of an absurd reason why the snake took away two men from the settlement and also stole a treasury from the settlement.
Elder Henry began to hesitate, to tell others about this. Because there's a high possibility that the snake lived around a settlement for a few months and after seeing the ceremony, it stole the treasury to UNDERGO THE CEREMONY BY ITSELF.
If it's true the snake is also very smart and wants the ability to understand other animals. Just as Elder Henry is constructing a reason for all of the things that happened on the island. A small boy only wearing animal skin to cover the lower part shouted in the crowd "Elder, I had seen the snake in the river outside the house. It appeared & disappeared before my eyes, so I thought it was just my imagination."
This detail came as thunder and struck in elder Henry's ear. He finally found a reasonable cause for not noticing such a huge being on the island. As it can't hide from them on this island, with all of them always doing something and moving in almost every part of the island. So, without wasting any more time, elder Henry took a deep breath and said to all the people in the crowd "I think I found the reason for all the things that happened on the island in a short period. The snake..."
Then Elder Henry explained what he thought and decided based on his reason along with the clues from the island. The people's faces changed, after hearing all of it. Then people began to deny and then reasoned with each other in dismay.
The elder's council also remained silent, but the despair on their face vanished and little hope was boosted. Because they will probably not die if the snake is intelligent. Elder Henry showed a smile on his tired face and said confidently "If what we dedicated is correct, then the snake may die in the ceremony and we will return to our previous lifestyle."
All the people left there with enough confidence. After everyone left elder Henry said to himself silently "If it does not die, it will return to the island."
Other elders also heard this and said to Henry encouraging "You did your best, Henry. Now, everything else is up to the fate. "
Henry nodded his head and along with other elders, he heaved a huge sigh of relief and waited patiently with a trembling heart. Days passed very slowly making people with little brain and reasoning in the settlement feel very uneasy for the next few days.
