25: Major Kevin's Struggle

25: Major Kevin's Struggle

Even though Joe was confused about these things. He decided not to care about it for now, as he helped the people in the city to organize, and let the crowd disperse with erroneous explanations to calm down these people.

Ford and his family are also very puzzled about the actions of the giant snake. But they are not stupid or curious enough to find out why the snake let them live. So, they focused on the task on their hands, cleared the crowd, and let the people return to their normal lives. While they waited for the arrival of the troop from the capital.

Meanwhile, John traveled at the fastest speed possible to escape from the hands of the kingdom. He didn't know what to do in case he got surrounded by a troop of high humans. So, he tried to avoid such situations and decided to return to where he came from or somewhere else without the kingdom's presence till everything calmed down.

In the capital city of Vika, the Vika royal clan resided. The City is built to accommodate the high-humans. So, the buildings are massive and the humans appear insignificant in front of these buildings.

Fortunately, the human population was very scarce in the capital, and the humans present in the capital were all mutated and evolved humans to varying degrees.

In one of the monumental Roman-style buildings encircled by a large garden and guarded by several guards in full-body steel armor. In a certain room in that building, a tall human wearing luxurious cloth embroidered with gold endings looked at the letter in his hand with deep eyes and reasoned for a few minutes.

His brows relaxed as he walked out of the room with a newly written order. He walked towards the state-of-the-art military area of the kingdom, steadily. A few minutes later he stood before a giant coliseum built for military training. He entered the Colosseum and moved toward a troop of young High Humans who were all fighting against each other and training their combat skills.

A High Human at the height of 4 meters, with a very strong body covered in flexible armor that didn't restrict his movements, looked at another High Human in the same attire as him with a fighting intent. Another High Human also didn't lose to him in any way as he glanced back at him with fighting intent.

A High Human with a letter from the Black Bear City walked past them and moved towards a High Human in luxurious armor with a hairy long tail behind his back. Then he reported to him with respect "Major Kevin, there's an emergency request from the Border Black Bear City."

Hearing this, Major Kevin in charge of the assault troop turned around leisurely and asked "Oh! Isn't it a newly built city? What kind of problem are they facing that needs our assistance?"

The information team's High Human replied with a puzzled expression on his face "They reported that a giant snake attacked the border military camp and annihilated all the people. They can't seem to contain it from the looks of it, so they requested our assistance."

Major Kevin nodded his head, thought for a few moments, and said "Okay, I will take this task, and please prepare food, equipment, and potions needed for the travel and fight."

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

The information processing team's High Human nodded his head at Major Kevin and departed from there to begin the process for the departure of the troop. There are many procedures involved in sending a troop to the border city and he was responsible for that.

The next day, a troop of people with Major Kevin left the Capital City and moved towards the Black Bear City in a carriage pulled by strong, large, and huge horse-like creatures. There is also a group of people with large backpacks, they are the potionists. The large backpacks are used to carry their utensils.

With the help of one of the fastest land traversing animals as a mount, they traveled quickly and easily toward their destination. On the way to their destination, they successfully cleared other troubles in the kingdom. These are small random troubles that they cleared without much effort.

After a month, a troop of four-meter-tall people in full body armor entered the Black Bear City under the awe of the common people.

Major Kevin drove the majestic muscular gray horse and led the troops to the military area. Then he alone went to the mansion of Joe Vika, the City administrator, to inquire about the details and at the same time. He also wanted to use the people of border defense for trivial matters to lessen the workload of his soldiers. So they could fight with full force in the face of the enemy.

In the study hall in his mansion, as usual, Joe Vika proceeded with his daily routine, even after the dangerous encounter they faced a month ago. He behaved normally because the city would have collapsed if he hadn't organized himself and others in the city with motivation. This would have incurred a massive loss and made it almost impossible to run the city.

For the first time, Joe Vika realized what it was like to live in constant fear. But he hid those fears and appeared brave for the people and for himself too. Otherwise, everything he built after numerous years of struggle would have gone to dust.

As he was going through these thoughts, he remembered news about numerous military camps of the border defense forces destroyed by the gigantic snake. As this thought resurfaced, he got very angry. Then suddenly, he heard the sound of someone walking toward him. So, he organized himself and acted like nothing happened.

Within a few moments, Kevin Vika came inside and greeted him and Joe also welcomed Major Kevin warmly. Kevin was a Major of High Humans and he was the general of human troops. Even if Joe looked like he was in a higher position than Kevin. In reality, his position was considered not that much in front of Kevin.

As a troop of high humans can easily diminish his corps if they wanted to. So, he inquired Kevin politely "Major Kevin, is there anything I can do for you?"

Major Kevin sat at the chair comfortably and then replied "Nothing important, I just need your corps to help me with the trivial things in the hunt for the Giant snake."

Hearing this, Joe just shook his head lazily and said with a complicated expression on his face "It's not that I don't want to help you, Major Kevin. It is just that I can't."

Major Kevin asked him with puzzlement on his face, as most of the border army would cooperate with him in these types of operations "Why?"

Joe showed an irritated expression on his face and said "The giant snake massacred more than three military camps unjustly. We can't bear any more losses. At best, I can send you five teams."

Major Kevin understood Joe's dilemma and nodded his head. As Kevin knew, the low number of military men in border cities is very dangerous. The animals in the forest may outgrow and enter the civilized area if they are not killed or hunted in the meantime.

So with an understanding expression, he replied to Joe "If that's the case. It's okay."

Then he asked with an inquiring expression on his face "I heard that only you and a few others saw the giant snake. So, if you describe the details of the giant snake, it'll be helpful."

Joe told Kevin about everything he experienced from start to finish truthfully. Kevin's relaxed expression changed as the narration progressed and at the end of the narration, Kevin appeared solemn unlike at the beginning how he handled the situations casually.

Joe said with a serious expression on his face "With your current troop you could only injure the snake at the best possible outcome and losses will be tremendous if you didn't prepare anything for the snake's poisonous ability. We also think that the snake can also release corrosive poisonous liquid. It would be ideal if you prepared countermeasures against this also. Even with all of this preparation, I think it's very hard to kill or capture the giant snake without considerable casualties."

Major Kevin processed all this information in a moment and replied to Joe with a warm expression "Thanks for all the information."

Joe also replied with a heartfelt smile "It's my duty."

With this, they ended their conversation, Kevin departed from there, to prepare for the upcoming battle. As Kevin has many things to do.

In a military area, Kevin looked at the soldier's training formation, physical strengthening exercises, and hand-to-hand combat absentmindedly. He walked back and forth with struggle in his eyes. Kevin is struck between calling for more backup or executing the task with the current troop.
