Mistflower 36: Kaledon

I visited Agnis and Giana in their coiled dragon house several times. Noelle in her light brown crystal formation house once. Raishin and Yvonne’s lightningbolt shaped house several times and Gregory’s black shoe house once.

Raishin and Yvonne weren’t a couple but their ‘academic fields’ were niche so they had been put together as research partners. It was the only reason they had been allowed into Mishaspire.

Agnis and Giana’s goal as Misha was to write a paper to make it easier for the experts to crack [Hattrick]. Noelle’s goal as a Misha was to find an alternative and simpler way of [Hattrick]. Raishin and Yvonne’s goal was to convert the functions of magic tools into magic spells. Raishin used his lightning affinity to read the electrical functions, and Yvonne wrote it down so Misha could understand it. Raishin’s vocabulary was highly unprofessional and often difficult to understand due to gaming jargon and words that don’t exist.

It was quite funny to watch as Yvonne was mainly a translator.

Gregory... just spent his day reading. He had no research to his name. It might be why Agnis was disappointed in him earlier.

They were all busy and so was I. I had to catch up on the events of this continent. A lot had happened but it was difficult to find information from before the Great Calamity as the majority of the information preceding the fairy invasion drowned out anything else.

The Great Tear was the enormous spatial tear many people had seen prior to the invasion. The Great Calamity refers to the enormous space quake that shook everything. Strange races and natural phenomena had been spotted afterward. Settlements appeared out of nowhere. Some new mountains and rivers got formed and the ocean to the south receded.

It was followed by a week of the natives fighting the new races that had been seemingly pooped out of nowhere. Most of Kaledon’s native species had won this fight but some settlements had not been lucky and the ‘invaders’ had won.

These invaders had now been accepted into society after they had learned how to speak Kaledonian. Most have multiple arms or heads.

Then came the invasion. The invasion killed off 35% of Kaledon’s inhabitants. Most were rural areas and villages as cities had the manpower to defend against the fairies. This led to many cities and villages to erect large walls.

Mishaspire had a barrier so this place must have been spared but most cities don’t have barriers around them. I could see how this would cause mass death.

The population was unaware of what these abominations were up to this date.

I’m sure that the mythical beasts know... the Kaledonian population would get crippled by ‘fairy disappointment’ if they found out. Ignorance might be bliss.

The fights with the new races had continued and on top of that the Kaledonians had to deal with this ‘abomination Plague’. The most common injury under those that had survived these swarms were ruptured eardrums as the fairies were obnoxiously loud.

Ruptured eardrums suck but it’s a relief that the most common injury. It was a big problem for the rabbits as well.

Many adventurer parties had gone out to slay these abominations but only few returned, despite that, their numbers decreased drastically.

Many had seen dragons rampaging in the sky above the Penumbra mountain range. Something dubbed the ‘Judgement Bolt’ had been observed wiping out many fairies. It was some sort of enormous lightning pillar that had been seen multiple times prior.

Then strange events happened as several deities appeared and laid waste to the continent with their plague-like abilities. The adventurer Silver Torrent had been seen fighting one of these deities. Silver lightning acting as if it were water were rushing through the streets of a beautiful city, wiping out fairies and attacking a malicious deity.

Stange pillars of shadows as well as lightning pillars near the Umbra mountain range, near Boshi town.

A video revealed that Agnis was the Silver Torrent and the shadow and lightning pillars must have been Raishin and Gregory. It seems that they haven’t sat still.

The deities suddenly disappeared but something else appeared. A strange dungeon. One of the few that could be opened.

At this point, it is a challenge that adventurers put themself to as it often kicks out parties that fail. It had claimed many lives but it has the lowest mortality rate of every dungeon known.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.

That didn’t say much as most dungeons have a 100% or 95% mortality rate and this ‘Nightmare Dungeon’ has a 61% mortality rate.

The more I read about this dungeon the more the first floor sounded like Boshi town.

“What is going on...”

I navigated on this new piece of technology called a tablet and looked up another video.

Kaledon had rapidly advanced in technology. Nesher was extremely primitive and before I got there I was quite removed from technology as Witchaven is a city that prioritizes magic over technology and Boshi town was in the middle of nowhere.

Yet again did the mythical beasts appear. They had something that they called a ‘Speedrun’ through this dungeon that had it’s first part be identical to Boshi town.

I rubbed my head. Spirit foxes are pranksters and excel in illusions. Their seemingly playful nature could be deceptive as deception also falls within their specialty. They can be deceptively cruel and sadistic at times. I was convinced that Agnis had created this.

The illusion-themed spire came to my mind. If that’s the peak of illusion magic, I’m sure that the race that specializes in illusions would have an easy time creating this dungeon.

I sighed as these troublemakers kept popping up in Kaledon’s recent history. It made me wonder if they were responsible for the fact that Kaledon was still standing.

Not much happened after that for a year until an enormous snake monster and more abominations attacked. The adventurers the Obsidian Prince and Crazy Firecracker had been attributed to the snake abomination’s downfall. Those were the adventurer names of Gregory and Raishin.

Just as I could be considered to be the Azure Mist, they also have adventurer names.

Its deceptive as you could get one without being an adventurer. Bea has one too. She’s the Crimson Eagle.

“Huh? Bea is an adventurer now? Isn’t she too stupid for that?”

Bea is considered to be the strongest witch alive by the Adventurer’s Association (AA).

“What? That idiot? The strongest?!”

It made me want to apply to become an adventurer too but I calmed down. I had enough adventure. I should advocate for peace and quiet.

Many strange buildings popped up and strange monsters had been spotted which attacked villages. Some had survived the fairy invasion to get destroyed by the strange breasts roaming the land. Nobody knows what they are or what they want. Subjugation ranges from difficult to near impossible.

Many strange things had been happening on this continent for a while but nobody knows what’s going on.

Cults popping up left and right. acts of terrorism and the imaginary slavery line marching south. At least non humans had become quite accepted overall due to the idol group Tails of Symphony. This idol group consisted of Giana Kahlua, Noelle Yasmin, and Yvonne Faer. The mythical beasts I had met before.

As expected; these mythical beast pop up often in Kaledon’s recent history.

The music of the idols had been a light in dark times. Their tours of singing and dancing provided distraction and comfort in difficult times.

Mythical problems require mythical solutions eh?

Then it was discovered that the spirits had disappeared. Not surprising as fairies eat spirits. It put a strain on the continent's electronium network as lightning spirits were used to zap electronium which would produce mana to run all the electromagical devices.

All these minor problems continued until 7 months ago when an event called ‘The Burning Sky’ or the ‘Fight that shook the heavens’ happened.

Beautiful blue fire and dragon winds tore through the northern country of Bizax, Biian’s country. As a large wind dragon and something else was fighting that stupid bitch Biian.

I recognized the fire as foxfire. It had a special and recognizable blue color. So a certain spirit fox teamed up with a dragon to fight that bitch.

I fist-pumped as the conclusion of that fight was Biian’s loss. Half of Hjuva had seen it from afar. A pillar of light shooting up into the sky.

Gods do this when they retreat. I don’t know what it looks like when gods die but myths and legends state that mythical and legendary beasts can kill gods.

The reaction to this event was quite surprising. The population wasn’t a great fan of Bizax and Biian as they had lead multiple crusades against other countries in the past so most were indifferent or even happy.

So I’m not the only one that hates that bitch. Serves her right!

The aftermath was problematic as Zarraxax had been spotted angrily looking for something. His search died out after 3 months to which he made the Igrini kingdom merge with Bizax.

I leaned backward. So Agnis had the reverse happen. He slapped Biian and Zarrazax came after him.

“Wait?! How did that as she out of that seal?”

I looked through history records but I couldn’t find anything. This tablet was useless as any search for Zarrazax displayed information about recent events.

I wanted to throw it to the wall but controlled myself. Selina had gifted me this as a token of goodwill.

The tablet lived to see another day as I counted to 10 and calmed down.

Not much happened after that. There was tension between Zanyr and Bizax and the former Igrini Kingdom had issues as the merge was Zarazax’s decision and not the decision of the Igrini Kingdom’s royal family.

Not much happened between that event and now besides the construction company named Yttroz Industries building a city for the races that had appeared since the Great Calamity. How nice of them.

I put the tablet down and digested all this information.

The only other important part was that they had shifted to a new calendar. Experts have discovered that years had become longer since the Great Calamity so they shifted from the New Kaledonian Calendar to the Dumerian calendar.

We were currently nearing the end of the first year on the Dumerian calendar.

At least they stuck to the same language. I wasn’t ready to learn New New Kaledonian.

Everything seemed well until I heard that Boshi town had been turned into a hole in the ground.

Paul and Paula’s faces flashed through my mind and I made up my mind. It’s time to leave this Misha city.
