Azure 23: Failed Apotheosis

“Aagh! Not like this! Everything went so well!”

Imposter had trouble keeping her form. The divine energy had completely mutated but she was still experiencing after effects. Her body was liquifying into the black goop and she was fighting it.

“Time to dilute you” I gripped my fan and made a slow swing. Waves rolled out and washed this sorry state of the Imposter away.

A burst of lightning shot from one of the rooms and hit the imposter, causing the water to get blasted away from her. She was panting but her form seemed to have stabilized for a bit.

“Huf… I must have missed something. I don’t have time for you! I need more skills!”

A [Lightning Beam] got shot at me which I blocked with my fan.

“That is a very sturdy weapon you have there! I am interested. I will steal it from you before I flee!”

I smiled. “Oh, you want to steal it? Go ahead.”

I folded to fan and flung it at her. She tried to kill its momentum by blasting lightning at it which failed. The fan crashed into her, sending her flying.

“Haha! You must have fallen on your head! Thank you!” Blood was trickling from her forehead and she grabbed my fan. She got hit by the same reaction that occurs when someone tries to steal a Misha hat. “Aaagh! What is this!”

It messed her up good before she threw my fan aside. I walked up to it and picked it up, unfolded it and made a sexy pose. “How do you like my hat?”

The imposter looked at me wide eyed. “Huh? What? That’s impossible! How! I thought you just [Concealed] your hat!”

“You are a fool, truly a disgrace to the Misha, you might have gained a lot by assimilating skills and abilities but it also seems you have lost a lot while doing so.” I swung my fan and gusts of wind tore through her body.

Lightning cracked and [Forked lightning] got shot at me which I swatted aside with my fan.

I could clearly see what was going on. The Imposter tried to form a multitude of spells but they all failed because of some strange reaction that was going on in her body. Her magic circles all morphed to become extremely inefficient and she didn’t had the mana to brute force through it.

It was interesting. I had a good idea what was going on. I had fought gods before after all.

The magic circles of gods are extremely inefficient, the only reason they can use magic is because they have a ridiculous amount of mana to brute force through it. No other creature, not even a Misha would be able to use magic with magic circles like those. The Imposter’s magic circles started to mutate into those that a god would use. The Imposter doesn’t have nearly as much mana as a god which causes most of her magic skills to fail. It won't take long before the Imposter would be unable to use magic at all. This is one of the worst nightmares for Misha as we take pride in our ability to use magic.

The attacks that the Imposter could throw at me decreased in complexity and mana cost as a result. Only the most simple magic could be used by her as her magic circles scrambled and became less efficient by the second.

“It wasn’t meant to be like this! I was supposed to become the strongest creature on the planet and then attain godhood!” Verruka exclaimed as she was attempting to regain control over her magic circles.

“Cool story Imposter and what would you do after becoming the strongest?”

“Ha! Become even stronger!”

“What a fool… to think I had issues dealing with you. I’m asking you what you will do once you become the strongest?”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

Ugh...”

I swung my fan and sent out a cold blast at her, freezing her to the wall. I came up close and smacked her with my folded fan. “What I mean is what are you going to do with that strength? Strength is only a tool to reach a goal! What are you going to do with that strength once you have attained it?!”

“Being strong is all I need!”

I smacked her. This felt good. “I am going to smack you every time you give a bullshit answer. What do you need this strength for?!”

“To show them!”

Another smack. “Try again.” I poured mana into my fan to make the next smack hurt more.

“To kill everyone in my path!” A very satisfying smack.

“Nobody would mess with me!” More satisfying smacks. The mountain was rumbling due to the shockwaves of my smacks.

“I…I don’t know! I haven’t thought it through!”

I smiled. “Now that one makes sense but… to do all this and not thinking it through…”

I smacked her and again. I kept smacking her. She kept regenerating with black goop. The smacks started turning into [Meteor Slaps]. The mountain shook as I was slowly tunnelling through it with [Meteor Slaps]. I had to refreeze her to the wall to land my next [Meteor Slap]. She abandoned her pride and tried to flee and that’s why I had to continue freezing her.

The mountain rumbled in a way that made me concerned as I didn’t want to get buried under it. She abused this smack-less moment.

“Ha! A chance! You should have finished me off when you could!” A black goop merged with her. It had 3 skills queued and I recognized 1 as [Shadow Meld]. These skills hadn’t mutated yet, probably as it wasn’t connected to her main body. It would mutate after merging though.

I swung my fan to freeze her but she [Shadow Melded] away.

“Ugh… so obnoxious. I might have gotten cocky there but you only have 3 skills. You can’t run forever! I will give you a demonstration on how to use magic the correct way!”

A magic circle appeared and I dynamically changed it as I improved its firepower and efficiency. “Let’s see how you like this!”
