Agnis first returned with a Misha that turned into a bronze skinned beauty with 7 crystal tails. She was of the seven tailed crystal wolf race, also a mythical beast. Her name was Noelle and she was an idol just like Giana.

She joined us in eating ice cream and told me a bit about their race. Stability and construction is their forte. Their role is to fortify what they call the dimensional fabric. The foxes repair the fabric and the crystal wolves fortify it so nothing can break through it again.

Just as the other mythical beasts, her race is nearing extinction.

Agnis later returned with a face I recognized. It was Raishin, a muscular man in a strange attire, blonde spiky hair and a goofy face. He always had a wide smile and said the strangest things. Raishin revealed that everyone in their group were mythical beasts and originated from Hourai.

It made me concerned about their group. Having near-extinct races in one group sounds like a cue for certain gods to come and wipe them out in one go.

Agnis had also brought a rabbit with long curly blue silver hair. I was familiar with her race. While common on Nesher, quite rare on Kaledon. She might have to do her role just by herself which to my knowledge could end up getting her killed. I sighed as this joyful reunion just made me worried.

Yvonne the rabbit left with Agnis to get Gregory.

My house had become quite lively. Raishin was a troublemaker and made a lot of noise.

Noelle smacked Raishin. “Hey! Stop looking at her chest! That’s rude!”

“But I’m sure Azu doesn’t mind!”

Raishin got smacked again. I giggled while continuing to eat my ice cream. Besides having a girlfriend now, Raishin hadn’t changed a bit. Noelle seemed to balance hsi goofiness.

I got up to lift the curses on Raishin.

“Hey, how did you guys get these curses by the way?” I asked as I noticed that Raishin had [Invidia] and [Luxuria].

“Uhh, that was back in Boshi town. So there was this place under ground with a lot of magma. We needed to get there to destroy one of the roots of that pink broccoli tree. There was this edgy guy with a large scythe that cursed us. Agnnis kicked his ass afterward and sent him to the spirit world!”

“Wait.. so you guys had these since Boshi town?”

Raishin nodded. “Yeah, Boshi town fucked us up quite a lot. Half of our problems point back to Boshi town according to Agnis.”

I got [Invidia] off Raishin and started on [Luxuria] as my mind wandered.

What do they mean that half their problems are from Boshi town. That was almost 13 years ago. What about it could possibly still haunt them? Does that mean tht Boshi town still isn’t done with me yet?

The curse got lifted and I sat down to eat ice cream.

Raishin and Noelle started to fight again.

“Fight! Fight! Fight! Hahaha!”

I took another spoonful and continued egging them on, hoping I could see a mythical beast fight.

The door opened and Agnis, Yvonne and a Misha walked in. The Misha turned into Gregory after the door closed. He wore a black suit and had pitch black hair. he had an overly serious look on his face.

“I leave you alone and this happens… Noelle, Raishin! Calm the fuck down else you will get turned into ice cubes and won’t get ice cream! Deca! You will get some punishment later on for not keeping order and Azu… this is your house… why aren't you stopping them… you will clean this mess by yourself!”

“Hey Deca! Why am I getting punished too?”

Agnis created a [Fireball] and melted all the ice cream. “I am the master of ice cream, ice cream gets created and destroyed by my whims, you better behave if you want more!”

The loss of my ice cream woke me up. He was right! This was my house! I forgot!

Sure, I haven’t been in my house for millennia but still! Why am I such a sucky host?

I got up and started cleaning the mess Raishin and Noelle made and delegated tasks to return my living room into a presentable state.

Gregory helped me out and started a conversation but… his voice was so monotone. It was difficult to focus on anything he said so I just nodded and pretending to listen while I cleaned up.

He used to be slightly more interesting as a kid. He seemed to be the only one that had changed.

Agnis and Yvonne went into the kitchen to make more ice cream. Raishin Noelle and Giana were stuck in a conversation. Something seemed off as Gregory didn’t seem to interact well with his other friends. He started to talk with Selina. I was technically in the conversation too but they were talking about Misha protocols on how to deal with intruders.

It took us a while until we noticed Agnis sitting across the table, sitting with his elbows on the table, resting his ands on the back of his palms and observing with multi colored glowing eyes.

Everyone ended their conversation and stared back.

His eyes turned into the eyes of a normal beast kin as he smiled. “Right, so we’re all here together to celebrate Azu’s return but also to get rid of the curses that have plagued us since Boshi town. We have 3 experts here that can get rid of them! it’s just your curse that’s left Greg!”

Gregory tilted his head in confusion. “Huh? You found out that fast? What about my research?”

Agnis sighed. “What about it? You didn’t think you could stretch the time we’d stay here by padding your reading time with useless novels, did you?”

“Wha?”

A frown appeared on Agnis’ face. “I’m honestly disappointed that you thought that nobody else would find a result before that.”

Gregory’s cat ears drooped. “But curses are my thing…”

There must be some history here that I don’t know about.

Agnis gave me a thumbs up and I went to help Gregory from his curses.

“Come here Gregory! Let's see what nasty curses that Imposter had left behind on you!”

I dragged him to the side and started to dispel [Superbia] and [Avaritia].

These curses somehow seemed to fit the 3 of them. what I remembered from Agnis was that he liked to eat and was often minimalistic, befitting of [Acedia] and [Gula]. Raishin was a skirt chaser and caused trouble for those who did have partners, regardless of age. It matched his [Invidia] and [Luxuia].

Gregory was quite prideful befitting [Superbia] but I couldn’t place [Avaritia]. I might not know him well enough to place that.

This was all based on what I knew of them from 13 years prior. The last one, Ted might have also been hit by a curse but he gave off a feeling of a saint or a monk. Maybe none of the deadly sins applied to him.

And with this, I learned on how to dispel curses as strong as the deadly sins. Cockroach is still alive but her biggest selling point had been invalidated. I could get rid of any curse easily now.

Only good things had happened to me since I arrived here on Kaledon. That was until the mythical beasts declared that they would leave. They had come here to get their curses lifted and they had succeeded.

I wanted to speak up but Selina got the jump on me. “Do you really need to leave? I might be able to arrange a citizenship…”

“You know that’s not an option Selina. Thank you for the invitation however. This is a Misha city, we don’t belong here.”

I didn’t agree with Agnis but I understood why he said that. I can’t imagine those inflexible council members accepting other races in this city.

“I feel different.” Gregory said as he looked at his hands.

“Ohh! Deca, Azu! Blast him with charm magic to test it out!”

Giana and I shot charm magic at Gregory who got [Charmed].

“Yes! We did it!” Agnis said excitedly.

“This is amazing! We don’t have to crack his head open now!”

Agnis and Raishin started dancing and even the idols seemed happy,

Gregory frowned and glared at Agnis and Raishin. “Huh? What? Crack open my head? What does that mean?!”

Agnis stopped dancing. “Huh? You must have misheard, maybe you’re still cursed, go for it Azu!”

I blasted Gregory with more charm magic and the stoic Gregory started to blush.

Agnis froze Gregory and pulled the charm magic out of him. “Go get him Yv!”

Yvonne pushed the ice cube to the kitchen after she hugged Agnis.

The picture was becoming clear. Agnis and Giana were a couple. Raishin and Noelle were a couple and it seems as if Yvonne was interested in Gregory but Gregory was unable to catch on to it for some reason, possibly related to his curses.

It was apparent to me of how much these curses could affect a person so it might be possible that they are hoping that it works out between Gregory and Yvonne now the curse is lifted.

I nodded with confidence as I was sure that I wasn’t too far off.

The mythical beasts started to chatter and Selina approached me.

“Hey, Ayaru. Is there any chance you could become a professor in the Misha academy or even a council member?”

“Absolutely not! I’m sorry but I had enough of my race. I will take my house and lab and move somewhere without Misha.”

There is no way I am going to put up with the same problems again.

“I see. Mind coming with me then? I will process the needed procedures to ease your move.”

“Ease my move? What? I will just [Levitate] them and take them with me.”

Selina gave me a blank stare. “What?”

“The ambient mana here is abundant so I can finally use my full power!” I got up as I wanted to take a look at my lab.

“W…wait for me!” Selina followed me as I walked toward the academy.

The whole city had changed. The academy had been rebuilt as it had burnt it down. There was no trace of a large fire but there were lot of newly constructed empty Misha houses near the academy.

The layout of the academy hadn’t changed much. I easily found my lab and unlocked it with [Tsunami]. [Azure Shark], [Azure Spear] and [Azure Mist].

“Come on in.”

Selina and I stepped into my lab. It was tidier than I had left it behind. I noticed a mistflower made purely out of ice on my desk.

I picked it up and got a tear in my eye. Giana called Agnis emotionally retarded but he might not be. This must be his way of saying ‘thank you’.

I tried to find the differences. My mini library had more literature. Agnis had added his papers and books he wrote between them. as usual mostly related to my research. I fished out a book about magic weapons. My research could be accelerated with his contributions. Whether I continue it or not, these will be useful.

Selina flipped through some works and put them down. “I can’t understand any of these… are you sure you want to leave? There are very few Misha of your caliber.”

“Just as the mythical beasts don’t feel at home here, I don’t either. I know it’s not your fault but I want nothing to do with Misha anymore.”

“I see. Thank you for your contributions. I know its millennia late but… your research is wanted now. We… just can’t find it. It should be in the taboo section but someone might have stolen it…”

I went through my vault and pulled out a copy of my original research. “I’m sure Agnis has a copy but I don’t think he wants to part with it.”

Selina accepted the copies and nodded. “We first suspected him from stealing it as he had raided the taboo section but…we quickly discovered that he just remembers the information and doesn’t steal the physical copies, else our taboo section would have been relatively empty. The cop of your research had also been spotted after he burned the city down which makes it impossible for him to be the culprit.”

“So my research got stolen… Your experts couldn’t solve [Hattrick] even after 6 years right?”

Selina nodded.

“I don’t think that will become an issue then.”

Selina took a look at my research and frowned. “Can we get the encryption keys?”

I smiled as I sat down. “I’m sorry, this is part of my revenge. Go struggle to decrypt it so you can improve our race. Agnis managed so I’m sure that your experts can too.”

Selina left. She was troubled and I felt a bit bad but this wasn’t my issue anymore. I had tried and nobody listened. Now they have to work for it. Agnis had already set a precedent to have them work for it and I resonate with that idea.

I picked up the book about magic weapons. Agnis had been so kind to use my encryption method which made this easy for me to read. None of the papers he had given me were encrypted though.

I got up and left for the library. Envious stares as usual. My body type was still uncommon under the Misha. I showed off and walked through the corridors with pride. The student Misha seemed as incompetent as the last time I walked through these halls.

The library had undergone some changes. It was easier to find the section of non-human authors. These would normally be taboo but they had made an exception since the Silver menace had written useful papers.

I picked up a paper about the 5th hat security update. It was written by Agnis Hourai. The encryption was insanely complicated. Some parts had been inspired by my encryption method but I conceded that this method was many more times complex than mine.

Needing 6 years to try and figure out [Hattrick] seemed quite believable now. I spent the rest of the day cracking it. The paper itself was clear and relatively simple. It could be applied within 20 minutes even by the most incompetent Misha. That’s some high levels of sadism there. Making someone work for a day for 20 minutes work.

I returned home and everyone was gone. I had been away for half a day after all. It felt so quiet and empty. I wonder if the mythical beasts would take me for one or 2 adventures. Would it be bearable for me though? The rabbits went through a lot that I don’t want to experience ever again. They might be the same. I will get dragged into mythical problems if I hang out with them.

I sighed as I went to lie down. Do I choose adventure or peace?
