Mistflower 33: I'm Back!

Mistflower 33: I'm Back!

I arrived at a strange scene. It was a half-destroyed library and a familiar person was sitting next a half destroyed bookshelf. He had 9 foxtails and blue fox ears.

“Thank you for the free teleport!”

I walked over to him and gave him a hug.

“Oh sweety! I'm so glad to see you! How you've grown! Have you missed me?”

“Huh? Azu? Please... this is awkward.”

I let go and noticed a blonde woman who also had 9 fox tails. She had the same eyes as Agnis and was closely observing me.

“Hmm, she is a threat but…” She pulled me off Agnis with her tail. “Nice to meet you Azu, I've heard a lot about you. I’m Giana Kahlua, Agnis’ partner.”

“Oh, where are my manners. I’m Ayaru Mistflower, also known as Azu.”

This woman was gorgeous. It had been the first time since forever that I felt intimidated by a woman’s beauty.

I swung my fan to block a [Dark Wave] rushing at us.

It must have been my lucky day. Not only had I gotten a free teleport to someone I haven’t seen in over 13 years, the one that had threathened him was no other than the newly revived Cockroach.

“Aagh! Why am I so unlucky?! You're supposed to be stuck on Nesher!”

“A sexy Misha always appears where she needs to be!”

I made a pose to show off my assets and sent mistflower petals at her.

Kaledon’s ambient mana was incomparably higher than Nesher. The magic that I had refined over the years on Nesher got a massive boost due to it.

“And an idol will not tolerate this disrespect for my partner.” Giana said after also making a pose.

It wasn’t directed at me but at Cockroach. I will find out later what had happened here. I won’t let this chance slip.

[Search: Imposter] revealed that there were no BS clones nearby. It was just this freshly revived Cockroach.

A mana wave erupted from Giana as space started to distort and temporal anomalies formed. Her blue ears glowed softly as her mana ballooned.

It was what I remembered from what a spirit fox’s true form is like.

I responded by also sending out a mana wave. My hair turned watery and my mana ballooned too.

“Hey, Giana, I know that this is our first meeting but mind helping me out destroying that Cockroach?”

Giana’s eyes glowed light green and had a strange pattern in them. “Cockroach?”

She asked after cocking her head and absorbing Cocokroach’s attacks into portals.

I pointed at the poor imitation of my former self. “I have been hunting her down for millennia and she just doesn’t want to die.”

“Oh sure, she messed with my partner so I prefer her to die right here, right now. It’s just... my offensive capabilities are low...”

Giana send out a wave of blue fire. The fire had strange properties as it gave a spatiotemporal magic vibe.

“Is that foxfire?”

Giana nodded and demonstrated that her foxfires didn’t do anything to the Cockroach who started multiplying.

“What is wrong with Agnis by the way?”

I said as I looked at how he was struggling to sit up. A cute blue fox was cuddling up to him.

“that person that you call Cockroach just killed him with the active effects of [Acedia] which he’s recovering from.”

I almost got hit by a black blob flying at me as I lost focus.

“Wait, [Acedia]?! He has it too?!”

Multiple [Water Shells] formed around me and Giana started to sing in multiple voices.

“Yes, I’m a healer but I couldn’t get it off him. Don’t worry about defence as that’s my specialty.”

Giana was still singing but she managed to talk at the same time. What type of magic was this? Here voices were pleasant and the song’s effects greatly boosted my mana.

Giana must be support-oriented which was strange as spirit foxes are highly offensive to my knowledge. She must be a special case.

I swung my fans from within Giana’s protection and had tidal waves and frosty ice storms tear into the Cockroach and her cockroach army.

“Oh how have I missed Kaledon’s ambient mana!”

I had no need for skills as just a wave of my fan was enough to pressure Cockroach. It solidified that my idea to go to Nesher was a terrible one. Only now did I realize how much Nesher had weakened my magic capabilities.

The Cockroach was complaining about this situation being unfair. That’s correct; it's unfair that I have to chase her across the globe just for her to revive again and again.

I sent out a [Dimensional Sword] trying to eliminate the main body. It’s quirkiness didn’t present itself and it did exactly what I wanted.

“Huh, strange.”

I looked at the singing mythical beast who was controlling space and time as if it was her plaything.

Is it possible that spatiotemporal magic becomes easy to use when a spirit fox is in its true form? Does that mean that wind magic and nature energy gets easier when rabbits go rabbit mode?

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

I never had the chance to test it as wind doesn’t fall into my preferred elements.

Nothing could penetrate Giana’s barriers and defensive skills so I had the freedom to fight like a real Misha fights; forgoing mobility to increase firepower.

One of her songs boosted my water magic.

I flushed the clones together with a [Tsunami] and destroyed them with [Dimensional Sword]. I [Meteor Slapped] a clone that drew near.

Giana trapped the remaining clones in bubbles, making them an easy target for [Mistflower Field].

I didn’t get a chance to use [Azure Mist] as everything died to [Mistflower Field].

“Hmm...that was anti-climactic... Thank you, Giana.”

Time and space returned to normal and I calmed down too.

Giana smiled, nodded and ‘ran’ toward Agnis. She seemed to be running in slow motion as her walking speed exceeded her running speed. Did she get cursed too?

I walked up to them and felt uncomfortable. It had been a while since I met Agnis and the only way to show this off was to hug him but that must be inappropriate with his partner neary.

Other Misha were staring but I didn’t care.

“I’m not a monster, you two have history. Go hug her Deca but hug me afterwards.” Giana said as she pushed Agnis toward me.

“Totally not awkward. Heya Azu, I was wondering if you were oakay as no Misha could find you.”

I hugged him and ignored the last part of his sentence. I don’t care about other Misha.

“You were so cute and small when we last met, look at you all grown up and handsome!”

I was so happy to be back and find people that I knew that I had difficulties keeping my tears in. “I'm sorry I'm a mess, I missed you guys. Where are Raishin, Greg and Ted?”

I let him go and Giana clung to him. They seem quite close.

“Raishin and Greg are somewhere here in Mishaspire and Ted...died 10 years ago...”

Images of a 14-year-old boy with short brown hair and a smile on his face flashed through my memory. He was like an older brother to them. So he died...

“Oh no… I…I'm sorry that I couldn't help…”

“Don’t worry about it. It’s not your fault. Well excuse me I need to shatter some illusions and [Transform] back to a Misha.”

Agnis made the scene crack and shards of reality broke off and fell down. it revealed an intact library and both Agnis and Giana were Misha with interesting hats.

I looked around as I recognized parts of this library. “Huh? Where are we?”

Agnis, disguised as a Misha walked up to me. “We’re in Mishaspire, formerly known as Witchaven. That there is the new headmaster, Selina Silverspoon”

He pointed at a dumbfounded Misha with white hair.

I wanted to speak up but Giana put her hand forward, notifying me to stop talking. “Let’s talk somewhere else. You must have a lot of questions and so do we. Agnis is disguised as Minerva Dragoncall and I’m disguised as Athena Dragoncall. Please follow us.”

The 2 led the way and I followed. They were disguised as siblings, but I was worried their disguise might be discovered. The Misha don’t have a sense of humor but these 2 were.

Giana played the serious sibling while Agnis played the serious one. He kept roasting everyone and even Giana which earned him headlocks.

“Owowow! Athena, my head will roll off if you keep doing that!”

“How about you act normally? We have a legend with us and all you can do is make stupid comments!” Giana tightened her headlock and I wondered if that wasn’t painful.

“It’s not my fault that the other Misha have no sense of humor!”

Many Misha stared at us. I got the usual envious stares but many also looked at the 2 who were having quite the unique interaction.

I had almost forgotten that mythical beasts do things at their own pace.

I smiled as it didn’t seem that Agnis had changed much.

----------------------------------------

We entered a Misha house in the form of a coiling dragon. Agnis used a strange and well put together [Fireball] to open his house.

Just that magic circle convinced me that what I had heard about him was correct. He had studied my research and it filled me with pride.

Their disguise dropped the moment the door closed and Giana dove into his soft fluffy tails. How envious...

“Hey, Deca, how about you make an exception and have her join me? Look at her face.”

“Well she always liked fluffy stuff... just don’t make it weird...” Agnis sighed and let me grab a soft fluffy tail.

How long has it been since I’ve cuddled something fluffy? The last time was Jafliximus, the fluffy alpaca. Poor Jafliximus...

“Well then. There is a lot I want to tell you Azu but... I want to apologize. I kinda used your research... Please don’t blast me from the face of the planet!”

Agnis covered his face, expecting to get blasted into pieces.

I laughed. Many bad things have happened to me but this wasn’t it. “Haha. Don’t worry. I’m actually happy that you did. All I wanted was for my research to be understood. Too bad that my own race shunned me but I’m happy that another race could benefit from it.”

I listened to the story of how a young Agnis broke into Witchaven at the age of 18. He needed ideas to create a magic weapon and had broken into Witchaven as humans are useless in a magical context.

He had disguised himself as a Misha, just as he had done earlier today. He had joined the Misha Academy, devoured information in the library, and learned all our secrets. He gained access to my house and lab as I had taught him [Azure Spear] and the [Azure mist] combo back in Boshi town and [Azure Spear] was needed to unlock my hose and the [Azure Mist] combo with [Tsunami], [Azure Sharks], [Azure Spear] and [Azure Mist] to open my lab.

He made comments on how boring the lectures were and that the Misha were uncreative in using their catalysts to which I agreed.

He had gotten known as the ‘Fireball Misha’ and for using a [Staff Throw], [Fireball] combo which had become popular under the Misha.

“Throwing your catalyst? That could be risky for most Misha though.” I said.

I agreed with that Misha should use their catalysts more creatively but most Misha were too rigid in their ways.

Agnis presented a paper he had written as a Misha. It was on how to make a catalyst out of Mana. He had also used my research to hack Misha hats and steal them.

In the end he had used my research on mana runes and mana circles and my research about Misha hats to create [Hattrick] the most coveted skill under the Misha. It had piqued my interest when the rabbits brought it up.

Agnis rummaged through his dimensional pocket and handed me a research paper. “Here. This is the paper that has stumped the Misha for 6 years. I had referenced your work heavily but they still don’t get it...”

I accepted the paper which was just named ‘Hattrick’. It ignored so many title requirements but I didn’t care.

Ï might have made some mistakes. I know it has been 13 years but I regard you as some sort of a mentor as your research has helped me a lot.”

I was filled with a sense of pride as I read the research paper. He had clearly understood my research and my research was the only one he referenced. It was better written than the papers the Misha students wrote that I had taught millennia ago.

It had some mistakes. I knew they were msitakes but I would need several days or weeks to find out how to correct them. They weren’t mistakes that were important however. Using [Hattrick] didn’t seem easy. His methods of encrypting the paper were also complicated but he had given me the key which made that part easy.

I could understand why the misha were struggling with it but to my estimation it would only require 1 or 2 years to figure this out, not 6. Have teh Misha regressed even more since then?

I failed to create the magic circle twice before I succeeded to cast [Hattrick].

My mana and my hairpin doubled.

Replicating mana was extremely difficult if not impossible as splitting mana pools was the norm.

I turned one hairpin into a floating fan and the other one into my hat.

“This is quite difficult. Thank you, Agnis.”

“No need to thank me. I could have never made this without your research and eh... you just used a skill that stumped the other Misha for 6 years. You’re the first Misha to be able to use [Hattrick]!”

Agnis made small foxfire fireworks but I didn’t think this was something to celebrate. My race was regressing and even Agnis couldn’t do anything about it.

The other papers he wrote were about hat security to prevent them from being stolen. He had hardly written anything that didn’t touch upon my field.

I then told Agnis about my adventures while I let him read through the notes I had made over the years. It wasn’t exactly a research paper but I had written most notes in a way that it could be converted to one.

We nerded out on the fact that magic weapons and Misha hats were related. He showed me his blue fox which was a magic skill, a magical sword and a Misha hat in 1. It was strange as the fox was nearly indistinguishable from a real animal.

Agnis hadn’t written a paper on the fox but alluded to that it would become extremely long and complicated.

Never had I been able to talk to someone about my expertise. I hadn’t been back to Kaledon for long but I already felt at home.

We both voiced our disgust for fairies and the topic of Mishaspire came up.

It had been rebuilt as Mishaspire, formerly known as Witchaven had been burnt down.
