“Huh what do you mean?” Lintian asks innocently.
“Oh, never-mind, its just my parents has always taught me since I could walk to pay attention to tiny details in words and movements and stuff,” Xintong said, “it was weird how you said they instead of our. I don't know its just me rambling.”
“Its weird how you caught all that but didn't see Jack’s betrayal coming why was that?” Lintian asks, he purposely attacked her verbally and then deflect the problem back to her and her ability to detect details.
Xintong expression turn to that of sadness and she said, “I don’t know. I saw all the clues but I didn't want to believe it I guess. He has always taken care of me when I was little. It was only when my clan found out that I have the heavens Meridian veins that he began to change. I guess I just wanted to believe everything was the same.”
Lintian felt a bit guilty for what he just said but I had to be done. Furthermore what she said was pretty deep for an 8 or 9 year old.
“Lets not dwell on it and hunt down some more demonic beasts,” Lintian said.
“Oh, sure,” Xintong responds and her eyes lit up, “heres a wound healing pills.” She brought out a pill from her interspacial ring and tosses them to Lintian with a bottle of water.
Lintian caught it and gulped it down. Seconds later his wounds began to itch intensity. He could literally see steam rising from the cut on his arm. Seconds later he didn't even notice where the cut was anymore.
For the rest of the day Lintian killed demonic beast after demonic beast. He decided to have Kyuri help so the whole process went a lot faster.
Back at the cave that night Lintian was butchering a hog apart and some tier one ground bird. After a while Xintong noticed Lintian might need fire to cook so she made a fire for him. The medicine that Xintong ate earlier was wearing off so she sat further back from the fire since her skin was feeling hotter and hotter.
Lintian seeing her aftereffect of that technique coming back he ate his portion and helped Xintong cooled her food to the right temperature.
As night felt the room became colder and colder. Xintong brought out her blanket and pillow. Lintian looks inside his spacial ring only to realize he didn't brought a blanket.
Xintong looks at Lintian and Lintian looks at Xintong. They made eye contact and Xintong was the first to blush. She remembered back to the time when she asked her mom why she and dad slept together every night but why does Xintong herself have to sleep alone. Her mom responded by saying that when two people love each other very much like your father and I then naturally we would sleep together. We love you too but we can’t baby you forever.
Xintong didn't have an extra pair of blankets so she wanted to ask Lintian if he wanted to share a blanket but this is about her future. If she sleeps with Lintian doesn't that mean they have to be together forever? Naturally she doesn't mind Lintian since he was talented, strong, pretty good looking and fun to be around but still this was a big decision.(ps. If you are wondering why they don't just take it from Jack and Lester’s ring it is because it was collected along with the body.)
Lintian didn't know why she was blushing so much and was wondering if she caught a cold.
“Xintong are you ok? Your face is very red,” Lintian asks bluntly.
Xintong’s face was now tomato red.
“Did you catch a fever? My aunt’s face usually turns that red when she catches a fever too,” Lintian continues, “I got fever medicine in my interspacial ring if you want it.” This medicine was from when his Uncle Ming and aunt packed it.
“NO! I’m fffine,” she stammered, “good night!”
“Ok…. Good night.” Weird girl Lintian thought. Kyuri, Lintian mentally called out. Wanna come over here and sleep together its cold here.
Xintong woke up in the middle of the night seeing Lintian shivering. She sighs to herself and got up from her warm comfortable blanket and covers Lintian and Kyuri with it. She was still a bit sensitive on the nerves but right now it is only twice as sensitive and wasn't that bad. For the rest of the night she endured it. Eventually the sensitivity effect was gone.

As the first ray of the sun hit Lintian’s face he shuffles around a bit and thought he was at home.
“Kyuri go back to your bed,” Lintian mumbles. Then his eyes shut up. In a single breathe he remembers where he was. Feeling the blanket he understand what happened last night.
Lintian sighs to himself and looks over to where Xintong was supposed to be. Lintian didn’t see her but Akumy did and was trying to lead Lintian to her. She was outside the cave going through the motions of her clan’s martial art.
Seeing how dedicated she was Lintian decided not to bother her but instead to thank her he decided that he will hunt a lot of Demonic beasts today for her.
Xintong out of the corner of his eyes saw Lintian watching.
“Oh, Lintian your awake.”
“Yeah,” Lintian smiles jogging towards her. “Have you ate yet?
“No, not yet.”
“Alright, I’ll cook the left over hog and bird from yesterday. You keep practicing.”
“Hey Lintian, I think we should stay hidden today.”
“Mhmm? Why?”
“Today is the third day and on the third day I cannot use any qi. Not only that but I don't even have the ability to manipulate water.”
“Its fine you can ride on Kyuri and I’ll handle them. Tier two are no problem for me. Plus if we are in danger I can aways run away,” Lintian said walking back into the cave.
After they ate Xintong did as Lintian instructed and rode on top of Kyuri. Kyuri didn’t mind since Xintong actually weighted less than Lintian.
Over the course of the whole day Lintian caught over 20 tier two beast and absorbed all those demonic energy into his body. The ball of demonic qi swirls around his Dantian like a blood red moon revolving around Earth.
That night it was colder than last night. Tonight Xintong looks at Lintian again. Xintong’s heart performed a little tap-dance which really vexed her. She can’t decided whether to say it or not. Seeing how Lintian has whole heartily helped her she felt guilty.
Lintian couldn't see her dilemma he just thought this was the aftereffect of the technique she used before and it was still bothering her.
Xintong’s mom told her that when she is around someone she really likes then her heart will go ba-dump ba-dump really fast. That and when she is in danger. Right now her heart was going wild.
“Hey Xintong?” Lintian said.
“Huh?! Oh yeah?” Xintong responds snapping out of her daze, trying not to look anxious.
“Do you want to share the blanket? Its kinda cold tonight?” Lintian asks bluntly. Then Lintian saw Xintong’s confused expression. Now his heart was performing a rapid drum solo.
“If you don't want to its fine,” Lintian blurted out next.
“If you don’t tell anyone about this. Sure,” Xintong reasoned. She was thinking back to the question her mom asked her when she was little. If a tree falls in a forest and you're not around to hear it does it still make a sound? The answer was yes but no body will know.
Innocently Lintian got under the same blanket as Xintong. Both their heart were now beating like a wild horse marathoning across the plains. Akumy and Kyuri both slept near them.
Rashu muses to himself, so adorable and so innocent. Wait until they grow older.
