“Lintian you want to hang out with your old man today?” Mao chuckles freely.
“Sure dad,” replied Lintian. Over the course of two to three months Lintian has gotten use to calling Mao dad. Mao has not always been there for him but when he needed him he was always there.
“Haha good boy,” laughs Mao, he felt a happy that Lintian has been calling him dad and he felt a little guilty for not being there for him most of the time like he did for his real children. “Today I want to teach you the family martial body skill. With your high comprehension you should be able to master the first step extremely fast.”
“If it's the dancing moonlight body skill then mom already taught me.”
“What? When?” asks Mao flabbergasted.
“About two months ago,” answers Lintian like it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Haha she bested me again. If its like that how about I take you shopping for a sword,” teased Mao.
“Really?” Lintian responded as his eyes grew huge.
“Why not my dad had me practicing when I was six. Lets find you a good sword to use,” Mao said out proudly, “we the Tsukino family are master swordsmen and swordswomen.”
Afterwards they set out for the market. They arrive in front of the Amazon Merchant shop.
“Lets go to the third floor to look for a sword,” Mao said and leads Lintian up. Like always the first and second floor are always packed and the density dwindles the higher up one went. When Lintian arrives at the third floor Mao brought him over to the sword section. The third floor items normally cost over a 100,000 per item with a cap of 2 million.
“I remember that everyone always carry around a Katana. So it would probable be best for me if I choose a Katana too,” Lintian thought out loud.
“If you practice the Tsukino style swordsmanship then choosing a katana would be for the best,” assured Mao.
“Dad can you help me choose?” Lintian asked since he was not knowledgeable in swords yet.
“Haha of course naturally I would help you choose. Did you want one with high attack, or high accuracy?”
“Probable high attack since I can train for better accuracy,” stated Lintian.
“Normally I would buy you a sword when you are 12 or 13 since the body is still growing. Furthermore practicing with a sword that you cannot lift yet would cause more harm then good in the long run. It would be better for your bones to be set before you feel comfortable with the sword.”
“Then why are we here buying a sword now? I can practice with the wooden stick no problem,” Lintian smiles.
“Haha normally I wouldn't but this is a special occasion. Originally I was thinking about teaching the Dancing Moonlight body skill but since your mother took the initiative to teach it there is nothing I can do about that. Also her body has been getting better and better lately thanks to you. I feel like I should repay you somehow,” Mao chuckles.
“Dad like I said before we are family. It was also thanks to you that I have a place to stay. A place to cultivate and I am able to live a comfortable life without much worries. It was the least I can do.”
“Good child but as your dad I still want to buy you a sword. If in the future you find a better sword that would be fantastic if not then this sword would be a great weapon in your arsenal. One of the most important aspects of a sword is comfortability. The more comfortable you feel with it the more power you bring out from it.”
“Thank you,” Lintian said and began to rummage through all the swords. He went to one of the shelves and tried to pick a sword up. It was a European style sword. He tries to pick it up but it was exceptionally heavy for Lintian. The weight was around 100 pounds. This isn’t much weight for adult cultivators or even adults in general in this world but Lintian was still young so the sword was exceptionally heavy. He had to use both arms with the help of refinement realm qi just to pick it up a little only to have it fall to the floor. Martial realm cultivators are able to pick up this sword with ease since they are able to lift 200 pounds in each arm. Some are able to do 300 pounds in each arm. Since Lintian can barely pick it up Mao grabs it effortlessly and puts it back.
Lintian began to look through the European swords, Chinese swords, brand swords and Japanese swords. He would grab the handle of the sword and try to lift it. A couple times he would be able to but most of the times he couldn’t. The swords around 40 to 50 pounds were no problem for Lintian when using two arms but using one was still heavy. Lintian understands that the older he grows the stronger he will get. So the weight of the sword was not an issue at the moment. He wants a sword that he feels comfortable grabbing.
After looking through 500 swords he couldn’t find one he likes.
Lintian looks at Mao and shakes his head. Most of the katana and swords he grabbed he couldn't feel a connection with it.
“Lets go to the second floor for a sword we might find something nice,” Lintian said trying to stay optimistic.
“Haha thats true we might get lucky,” Mao replies.
The second floor was extremely crowded and Lintian had a tough time just trying to get to a sword. Never mind searching for one. Especially since its busy, the chances of getting lucky was extremely low. Since not everyone is stupid. If they see a treasure they would bound to buy it. Still a person has to try. It’s like wasting money on a lottery ticket. No matter how low the chances are there is still that sliver of a chance.
Lintian and Mao stayed for two hours searching but unlike upstairs in the two hours they were only able to inspect 100 or so swords. Lintian looks a bit down.
Mao seeing this said, “Lintian lets try the bazaar outside. The amazon might be a large trading clan but others mights still be able to find rare and exceptional swords. The chances of a good katana is low through. Especially here in the United Nations.”
Lintians eyes lit up brightly as he ushered Mao to hurry up and go. When they arrived at the bazaar there were streams of people walking around. It wasn’t as densely packed as the second floor of the Amazon clan building but it was still pretty packed.
“COME! COME! CHECK OUT THE AMADI MERCHANDISE!”
“COME HERE AND BUY ONE GET ONE HALF OFF. THESE ARE ALL TOP GRADE ARTIFACTS!”
“NEED MEDICINE?! NEED LIFE SAVING HERBS?! COME HERE?!”
Lintian can hear all these extremely loud shouting to bring in business.
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
There were self own business merchant everywhere. Some have stalls some just sat on the floor with their merchandise spread on the carpet. From the looks of it mostly all of those merchants were in the Master realm. The weakest was the 8th stage of the Martial realm. Lintian and Mao stops right in front of a weapons stall. There were all kinds of weapons imaginable sitting at the from of the store. From guns, to discs, to blades, swords, spears, hammers and warblades.
“Ho ho ho how can I help my esteem customers today?” asks the stall manager. He has a white little beard and looked to be about 50 years old. Lintian could see that his eyes has a sly look to it.
“I’m look for a sword for my child and was wondering if you can help me out,” replied Mao.
“Of course, of course. We have a wide variety. Is there a specific kind you are looking for?” asks the stall manager.
“Katana. One above the fifth tier if possible.”
“Not a problem lets go look.”
Lintian follows behind him and looks around. He saw all sorts of strange weapons all over the place. Then his eyes came upon a table that reads miscellaneous good. On the table sat many goods but only one item caught his attention. A katana without a cross guard. The handle of the sword has some kind of dancing flame pattern design and the blade of the sword has strange symbols on it but it the symbols were broken. These symbols could not be seen unless you possess an extraordinary amount of soul energy. It was calling out to Lintian like a siren’s song. Lintian walks over to it unconsciously and grabs the handle.
His mental energy floods out in a constant stream and actually began to repair the symbols. He was also doing this unconsciously. Lintian doesn't even know how to control his mental energy yet but it was repairing the symbols itself. Sweat was beginning to seep out of his skin. Running down his skin like a river.
Lintian was shocked and quickly pulls his hand back. A few seconds later he heard Mao shout.
“Lintian where you go?”
“Over here,” Lintian shouted back.
They walked over and Lintian was standing next to the miscellaneous section. The store manager had a look of disappointment on his face.
“Dad I found the sword I want,” shouted Lintian back happily and pointed to the katana without cross guard.
The store manager sighed and said, “these items over here are all damaged and normally only collectors would buy it. These items are not even worth looking at. It would be better look for a better sword over there.”
“I want this one. It looks cool,” shouted Lintian acting like a spoil brat.
Mao seeing Lintian act that way knew instantly that something was up. Lintian was a respectable, and brilliant child and this action was way out of character. So Mao played along.
“Mr. Hung my child has a tantrum problem sometimes and when he sees something really cool looking he usually wants it even if it is a piece of trash. How about I give you 100 qi stone for the sword right there,” Mao offered.
“Mr. Wei it is true that the items there are trash but isn’t 100 qi stone a bit too low? Normally collectors that come here are willing to pay 10,000 for it. So I can definitely not sell it to you for 100 qi stones,” he said slyly. Lintian saw the look he had on his face and saw him crossing his arm. This was a barrier movement that people who are lying or has something to hide would do.
“How about 1,000 qi stone. Since this is a busy store and nobody has brought it yet.”
“I will repeat one more time 10,000 qi stones or I won’t sell,” Mr. Hung stated. This was the final straw that Lintian knew he was lying about the 10,000 qi stone and is willing to go lower. Dr. Harris has told him that people who states “I will repeat” or “I will only say this once” usually are lying about something but this has to be combine with specific signs prior. When they raise their voice and say those were it indicates they are trying to look strong but a bluff is still a bluff in the end.
Lintian seeing this ran over to a set of knives that was worth about 10,000 qi stones and shouted, “Dad can I also by this sword too? It looks just as cool.”
“Haha Mr. Hung how about it. I’ll take those knives and this katana together.”
Mr. Hung sighed and said, “Your son has really good eyes. Those are a set of imperial hidden weapons. Since this is your first time here and buying I will throw that katana in as a gift.”
“Mr. Hung thank you,” Lintian shouted happily, “I will definitely be back. Theres so many cool weapons in here.”
“Mr. Hung thank you it seems my son is very please with this. Can you wrap it up and we’ll take it them,” Mao said and toss over a 10 qi stones that had the numbers 1000 imprinted on it.
When they both got into the car and left town Mao and Lintian burst out laughing.
“You little rascal,” Mao chuckled, “what was so special about that sword?” Mao checked the sword afterwards but it still felt like junk to him.
“Oh when I touched it earlier my soul energy responded to it,” Lintian said. He didn’t say the part about it being repaired by him incase if it leaks out any information about him that might be crucial.
“It responded to soul energy? Lintian? They tested you for a spell master in school?”
“Yes. Dr. Harris has been advising me in it. I also saw some spell symbols on it so I thought it might be special.”
“If thats true than we really ripped off that store,” Mao laughed. This is because a strong spell formation sword can go for as much as 1 million qi stone and they just brought it for a measly 10,000 with a set of imperial hidden knives. Also a strong spell master can easily restore the previous spell formation as long as it is not too complex.
