Isekaid by Truck-kun

"So I died then?"

"Yup, judging by your exceptional files, I can offer you two options. Heaven or reincarnation."

"Is heaven as nice as the people believe it to be?"

"Not really. The heavenly realm is calm and suited for retirement, but many souls lose their sense of purpose until they become stars."

"What is the deal with the reincarnation?"

"You get one more chance at life, of course, because you have so many good deeds I can send you in with your memories intact and some other special blessings you earned them."

"Just to confirm, you know how I died, right?"

"Of course! Now would you please choose?! It's a rather busy day today; I can't slow down even for exceptions like you."

The woman before me was a beautiful, self-claimed goddess who was utterly wrong. She had "My" Files in her hand, but when I looked at the record's name, it didn't match mine; it was another guy's name.

Still, because I didn't know what she would do if she found out she had the wrong soul, I limited myself to go along with her story until I chose to get reincarnated into another body and world, albeit I didn't know it then.

My death, according to her records, was caused by a heroic act I had done to save thousands of lives, but that wasn't true; I got run over by a truck while crossing the street while wearing my headphones.

It was a pathetic, deserving death for someone as useless as me; I offered almost no value to society, so the fact of my death did not affect my morale very much.

Would anyone even notice? Probably not for at least a couple of years; my parents barely heard from me anyway, and I also had no friends or people who would even care for me.

I knew I had wasted my previous life, so I was determined to make it worth living now that I had another chance at life. I had unique plans to get rich quickly with all my forty years of experience ahead of me until...

{Loud baby girl cries in the background.}

"Waaaaaahh! ahhh!! aahh!"

"Here here, calm, calm baby Anabel."

Anabel? Anabel me? That's right, I was reincarnated as a baby girl. It was a shock at first, but for whatever reason, I accepted it relatively quickly; it wasn't so bad after all.

From what I could tell at first glance, the house I was sent to wasn't that great, but we weren't poor. Dad was a farmer, and mom knitted handbags and other souvenirs, which meant I was a lower-class citizen, but that was alright.

What wasn't so alright was that this world was so far back in time; it was like I was sent back to the Middle Ages; everything was so antiquated for someone like me; no electricity meant no video games or internet! What a pain!

Even so, I had to admit that I liked my new life a little too much; my days were simple and easy for the first three years of my life. All I had to do was cry to get food, cry if I pooped my pants, cry and cry, crying for everything was lovely.

Until I eventually turned four, and my parents stopped treating me like a baby and more like a little kid as they should, of course, but I wasn't so ready.
