He is X

In heaven, one being was having the best time of their lives. Watching Anabel struggle against the world was fun to them. The so-called "Devil" always liked to mess around with humans as he never had anything better to do than to incite wars and chaos.

His existence annoyed every other god, but they could do nothing about it. Being X was simply destined to be that way. No matter how many times he was to be killed, he would always respawn and return to do mischievous deeds every time. He was the God of Destruction, after all.

Out of all the gods, the god of destruction wasn't particularly powerful, yet his role was necessary even if the gods wanted it to not be that way. Without a god of destruction, the universe cannot be in balance.

Still, his methods were consistently the lowest, tricking people into war and concealing himself as a friend and an ally! "I'm here to offer you a deal!" was his favorite phrase. He can even go as far as helping both parties in a squabble, as he has no loyalty towards anyone but himself.

In a way, X was the raw definition of a force of nature. A neutral, unpredictable being bound by no rules, no gods, no codes, just his own moral wants and desires, someone actually free to the fullest extent.

His immortality baffled the gods, who wanted to contain the damages he always caused. Sure, all gods are somewhat immortal, but this dude always returned from whatever fate he suffered. If you sealed him, he would return in less than a week. Cut his head off, and he'll turn into a bodyless being! Burn him, and he'll turn into water. Impale his heart, and he'll suddenly be heartless, LITERALLY.

Therefore, the gods did not try to kill him anymore but focused on keeping him in check. If he didn't die and didn't do anything to try and kill any of them, then they would let him be. How naive of them.

X didn't show interest in killing them yet, but the seeds were planted on him after he took the unique skill "Fenix" from Anabel. X didn't know why, but he felt he had a task to accomplish with the skill "Fenix" he couldn't remember yet.

Now that had become his task for the past days, he had been playing around with a white ball, scratching his head and concentrating on remembering what he felt was his purpose with the skill.

"Fenix skill, skill fenix. I had to do something with this thing, but what?"

As he thought, a mysterious voice spoke to him from one of his very distant memories, an ancient memory of a guy wearing king's clothes speaking to him on his deathbed.

"X, I entrust you with the mission; you're the only one who can revive me after I die! Remember to gather all of the skills! Fenix! ????! ??????! ????! gibberish memories."

The blurry memory made him partially remember what he was supposed to do, yet it had been so long that he had almost forgotten entirely still that voice. He couldn't forget that voice, the voice of his master!

"Naofumi sama! Where are you!?" Being X, partially remembered now, he was no god of destruction. He was a pleid for lord Naofumi. A life insurance for his lord.

Even so, where had his lord been buried?! Where was the statue of the true god now?! Where was the rest of the crew? Why was he the only one remaining? He had forgotten about them. How could he? Was it because he had died and reincarnated too many times? Probably.

The reincarnation process is not clean, and in many cases, the soul of the person being reincarnated can become damaged during the transfer, thus damaging memories, powers, and much more.

No one is exempt from the rule, not even a certain loser who has now reincarnated twice; they didn't know why they felt so different now, but to anyone who knew about the reincarnation process, her attitude change would be easily explainable.

The same was true about gods and powerful beings. No matter how strong you may be, you will be affected after reincarnation. It's just natural law, and that's why being X was an almost entirely different person.

Even now that they remembered their lord, they still had a different desire. Reviving their master was not at the top of their priorities. He didn't really feel the urge to anymore. He would instead pay another visit to the arrogant prince to offer him a deal.
