Am I a neko?

"One ribbit! Two ribbits! Yahoo! I didn't know you could make yourself a smoother ride!"

"You never asked, master! I can adjust however you want!"

Anabel was having a blast after discovering that Yumi could adjust her running to be slightly less shaky, eh? Now, she wished she had known earlier on. In any case, Yumi was now Anabel's best friend and companion, so their bond grew stronger by the hour as they kept talking the whole time.

"I'm sorry I have to do this to you." A voice soon invaded Anabel's mind, and she recognized it as her devil "X." Time slowed down until it completely stopped, and Anabel's soul got pulled out of her body again.

"What the?! Why?! I have been following your wishes! I have been a good boy! AHHHH!!!" Natsume's soul was soon pulled to the skies, where they again met with X.

Natsume's soul vision had slightly changed from the last time, as his body began to resemble his current Anabel form. Being X walked in circles as Natsume sat in the clouds, waiting for the creature to explain itself; what had they meant by "I'm sorry for doing this to you?"

"You have been entertaining to watch and gave me a purpose other than my amusement, but I have to kill you now."

"What?! I can't die yet! I refuse! The reincarnation goddess will erase me! Who will keep you entertained then!? I can promise you I have great plans for your amusement!" X looked conflicted as it stared back at Natsume.

"Well, I can't revive you again without getting into trouble. I already promised I would kill you, so I'm sorry, little one."

"Wait! I'll fake my death! You! You can fake my death!" Natsume screamed as he watched giant alligators spawn near his body. The same alligators vanished instantly after they mentioned the idea to the being.

"Fake your death? Uh! I didn't think of that. Tell you what, Natsume, I like watching you struggle, so I'll make an exception. I'll fake your death, but you must renounce your role as the princess."

"Fine! Send me to another kingdom if you want! I don't care! Just let me keep Yumi, at least! I need her with me!" X grabbed the toad girl and opened up a world map, thinking about where he could send them.

"Alright, Natsume. You convinced me this time. I hope you keep your word, or I'll personally come back to kill you. I'll send you to Enginheim."

"The where?! AHHHHHHHH!!!!" X soon dismissed Natsume's soul as it flew back to its body, and when it finally reached it, the same body vanished out of existence alongside Yumi.

A portal opened up on the outskirts of the capital of Enginheim, "Melromark." From the portal, a pair of girls were sent flying out, letting them crash against the ground without any regard for their safety.

"Goddamit! Why!? I was about to be back with Mother to save her! Did that mean she was dead? I doubt X would only want to kill me."

"Master!? Auugh! What happened?! Where are we? I don't recall this place." Yumi said after transforming into her human form.

"I don't know what happened, Yumi, but it seems we have been teleported somewhere far from home."

"Where are L'arc and Eclaire master?"

[Back in the middle of the road with L'arc and Eclaire.]

"What the?! Hey! Where's the kiddo?!" L'arc said after witnessing the sudden disappearance of their money shep.

"I don't know! They were right beside us seconds ago! They just vanished!" Eclaire couldn't explain it. It would make sense for the people who knew about X and time spells, but for regular people like them, the events made no sense whatsoever! Dam it. They had lost their walking ATM!

[Back with Anabel and Yumi.]

"Yumi, I need to ask you something."

"Yes, master! I'll do whatever!"

"Don't ever call me "Princess" again, you hear me? I'm not a princess anymore, got it? And also, keep your human form as long as we are in a city."

"But! But! {sigh} Fine if you say so." Yumi quickly surrendered and accepted her new orders. She didn't understand them, but if that would make her master happy, she would follow them.

Some merchants soon appeared in the distance as Anabel and Yumi discussed their current situation until they met in the middle. The guy pulling the carriage looked friendly enough and spoke to the girls, arguing.

"Hey! Are you heading to the city?!" Asked the merchant after interrupting the distracted girls. Anabel soon approached the man to answer his question.

"Y-yeah! Can you give us a ride there?"

"Sure thing! It'll only be one silver piece for you two." Dam, Anabel thought even if she still had money left, she didn't know how hard it would be to get some more money, but she also didn't know the way to the city so in the end she paid the man his price and jumped in the man's wagon with Yumi behind her.

In the back of the wagon, some more people were also traveling with the merchant; they all looked mean. It didn't take a genius to figure these men in the back were criminals of some sort, so soon Anabel grabbed Yumi's hand, basically grabbing her life insurance dearly.
