The walk home took quite some time, but once I arrived at the location, I was surprised to find any significant stuff, almost like the household I reincarnated on belonged to some low-class people or something I know, right? Shocker! The most valuable things I found were some side bags and some dried meats.
There was barely anything of value in the house except for those things, which meant my travel load was relatively small. In any case, the burial of my mother is what took the longest as I refused to leave her corpse to rot inside the house, forcing me to give her a proper burial outside.
Luckily for me, the ground wasn't too hard or filled with tree roots, which made it easier to dig a really big hole for my mother's body, which I dropped inside the hole once I finished. "May your soul rest in peace," I say my prayers to her while I drop the shovels or dirt on her body until I finish covering her up.

As another sign of respect, I simply carved out a piece of wood with the Japanese characters for 'mother.' I never even learned her name, which made the whole thing even more grim, but I still vowed to pay my respects because she truly gave her life for me, even if she didn't have to. In my mind, she was a hero, one that deserved to be in my mind forever.
Without further ado, I tried the wood-carved piece to a stick and placed it on the ground on top of my mother's grave, followed by a couple of stick hits against it to set it firmly. "I may have known you for just mere minutes, but thank you for your sacrifice," I say once again, sending my prayers to her soul as I depart from my home.
I had no map or idea where to go, but I did have something very clear: werewolves and vampires were at odds, meaning I could not run into them.
Even if I'm immune to their magical powers, it is pretty clear that I'm still very exposed to physical damage, so my odds of winning are still low, especially with an increase in encounters that will allow the werewolves to detect my weaknesses.
Without a map, a different sky, and a lack of directions, I simply walked along the trail that barely appeared and disappeared for a couple of hours. Without stopping to take many breaks or breaths, I made it far deep into the woods in no time as I continued.
One of the biggest concerns about being a vampire was the sun, of course, which, to my surprise, didn't seem to be much of a problem for me as I exposed parts of my body to the sunlight without burning or receiving any notable damage at all.
The hours go by, and still, without seeing any traces of life anywhere near sight, I simply start setting up camp as soon as the sun starts going down the horizon because I didn't want to spend the night in the dark or without a source of heat, the day had been cold already so the night was bound to be even more brutal.
To my surprise, walking through nature felt great and refreshing, far better than the cities' air. The usual smell of horse poop and other disgusting stuff wasn't present in the woods, which did please me. The sounds of the animals and birds all day were calming and precious, alongside the quiet cold breeze once in a while. It made the whole thing feel surreal.
I might've been reincarnated into a bad start again, but after only a couple of hours of reflection, I was starting to come to terms with this world as it didn't seem as bad as it did now. Sure, this world is stuck in the medieval ages, but it was far more forgiving; I mean, you could quite literally just move to the middle of the woods and live there without consequence if you wanted to.
There wasn't much to do for night-time preparations other than collecting some wood and other small debris to start a fire. My food situation wasn't looking great, nor did world knowledge, but I would just have to keep going until I reached some type of civilization. I mean, how hard could that be?
In the end, I tried for hours to start a fire, but I miserably failed because, as I had said before! I lacked any sort of survival knowledge. Nobody in this world seemed to need flint and steel or any kind of fancy gadget to start fires since everyone could use the widespread small fire spell, but since miss incredible me didn't have magic, I was pretty much fucked.
The night arrived faster than I expected, and without a fire, it soon got really dark, even with my enhanced vision. I could still see relatively well at night, but it wasn't like before when I had the taste of blood; my night vision after a long day was more like a full moon type of vision, not super clear but not completely blind either.
The night sky was nothing short of amazing, however, with it being a beautiful thing to sleep under. The bright night sky felt even more surreal than the forest, and it looked far more unique than the Earth's sky by miles! As I dreamed under the stars, this world grew on me more and more.
Perhaps I was blinded by the shitty life I dealt with the first time and the botched beginning of the new try, but the world wasn't so bad after all. Thinking about it, I had never been outside for this long back in my old body; I was a nobody, someone who had no friends or life achievements to speak of, and now I was in a new life with a beautiful sky above me.
The lack of fire meant that the cold temperatures felt a little unbearable the whole night, which kept me awake for most of it as I kept on waking up mid-sleep because of how cold my body temperature got at times, almost making me cry.
The following morning, I woke up to the first rays of light, which finally heated up the day. I had made it through the night, albeit I had a little cold mark on my face and even a little ice around my hair since it froze. The night outside was nothing to joke about, which made it clear that I would not make it many nights outside without a fire. I had to figure out how to make one, or I would die in a couple of days with those freezing temperatures.
You'd think that a vampire would have cold resistance, but I apparently didn't, or if I did, then the night was simply too cold even for a vampire, let alone a small one like me.
