Adrenaline Rush

{Anabel panting} Phew, well, that's gonna hurt tomorrow. No good comes from thinking about it now. My problem now comes in the form of hostages. What the heck do I do with these two? I can't just let them go, but I'm no killer either.

Man! Whoever is writing this is an asshole! I'm just a little kid with no magical powers, and I get to fight those two beasts?! What the hell is that about!? I swear I will beat the crap out of the Goddess and the writer too!

Do you think I'm overexaggerating? You're probably right, but it helps me deal with the insanity of today, okay? I swear I'm usually not this crazy. On paper, at least.

What? Did you read something? No? Cool! Now, back to the two people who tried to kidnap me just now. I got them tied up, but I don't know how long we can stay here without more guys eventually showing up.

I don't think the government knows I'm here, but someone definitely does. Now, the only people who should know about me being here are Alexander, David, and Gerald. Have I been betrayed by one of them? No way. My dad wouldn't do that, right?

Honestly, he was a garbage man, but after he hugged me and I felt his deep sorrow about my death, I couldn't think he would ever betray me, so who was it? I doubt Alex would do so, as he was the one who smuggled me into the city.

But wait, why would he smuggle me in here, to begin with? And what reason would David have to betray me anyway? It makes no sense, but if they keep their act up when they see my kidnapers, then I should pretend like I'm not suspicious of them. Speaking of the kings of Rome, here they both came.

"What is this? Why are there people tied up in here?" Said alexander.

I couldn't actually hear what David mustered, but he definitely spat some really soft words; I think he whispered "Dam it" Under his coat.

"Well, someone knows I'm here, so we have to get a move on ASAP. I doubt these are the only people that will show up."

"You're right; as far as transport goes, I managed to get us a private cart out of here, and I think my son has our fake sigils, right?" Alexander sent a look to David, and the one in question slightly nodded, handing his dad a fake sigil but failing to give me anything.

"David? Where is Anabel's sigil?"

"Ugh, Dad, you're always so naive! That's why you're still broke!"

"David?!" The younger man punched his own father in the face, knocking the old man out cold. It was clear that the traitor was David all along, but why? What could he gain from betraying me and his father like this? What could be worth the risk? I had to know.

"Why would you choose death, David?" I said while staring at him as seriously as I could.

"I guess a spoiled brat like you doesn't understand! Do you know how much money they're posting for your head? I could be rich for the rest of my life and not have any worries at all. If only I surrender your head!"

Was he serious? Was he doing it because of money? Of all things? He chooses to break his father's trust and possibly risk dying because of treason over cash? Well, that was just blatantly stupid! Didn't he know that the punishment for treason was death?!

Whatever! I would not let him go, but still, how would I stop him? I caught the other two off guard, but now that David knows I can defend myself, I doubt he will make it easy for me to beat him. Dam!

Then it happened: David humbled me quickly with a fast and sharp move toward me. He had only moved my way, but he was so fast I could barely follow his movement until he was already next to me, ready to sucker punch me in the face.

"I'm not as weak as you thought! Nice dreams, Princess!"

Not so fast, you arrogant fool! I also had tricks under my sleeve! I barely had enough time to duck out of the way, but I did so just in time to avoid his punch, which broke the wall behind me. What the fuck? That would have killed me!

David was not pulling his punches off at all! He was trying to kill me!

"Lucky fluke! I won't miss it next time! Ahhh!"

David moved so dam fast that all I could do was frantically run away until we finally found ourselves outside, where I was pushed to the brink of collapse. I was still mortally injured from my curse and the big guy's gut punch, in case you forgot.

I was using all my body's strength to survive. I wasn't thinking about beating him; I was only using my adrenaline rush to survive. I wasn't going to last much longer without help, though, and thankfully, David was eventually stopped by an adventurer.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, pal!? That's just a little girl! Fight someone your own size, you jerk!"

The adventurer wearing shiny armor had caught David's punch right before it was about to blow up my brains out in the middle of the street. I had no more fuel left in me, so I could only stay down there panting, still in fear for my life.

I had seen death near a rooftop again, lurking over me, watching closely as I was about to kick the bucket again. David tried to fight the adventurer right after, but he was easily bodied by the more experienced adventurer.

A girl who was with the man then came to my aid; she tried to cast restorative magic on me, but it had no effect. I had forgotten that I couldn't receive any magic assistance from this world system in any form. Not even support magic was allowed.

Was that it, then? Was I about to die again?! No! I refuse! If this world beats me so quickly! Then why live!? No, I won't be beaten! I will survive!

I passed out cold in the middle of the street while being held by a beautiful lady with huge milkers as breasts. A light came over me, and I was enveloped in a dream-like state. Suddenly I saw the man I wasn't supposed to see, but you'll have to wait for the next chapter to know who it is.
