"Anti-magic powers?" "Yes, sir, the girl is confirmed to possess the same technology you've been after for so long." Two voices spoke from within a dark, desolate cave somewhere within a faraway nation as the news of a child with unique properties spread like wildfire.
"Impossible! Are you sure the reports say it's anti-magical!?" An old man with a long white beard asks through his communication device that sort of resembles a modern-day phone to the other person at the other side of the line a simple question, but while the man takes a while to answer, he does with shocking detail.
"Yes, sir. One of the accounts describes the fight they witnessed with it being, and I quote, 'She is impossible to hit with light magic, it's like she has an anti-magic barrier around her at all times our attacks simply vanish into thin air near her' that sounds very clear to me."
The old man on the other side of the line soon hears the shocking news that makes his whole life brighter as he feels like he's found another reason to keep living and researching his life's work. As a brilliant inventor, this man has been obsessed with discovering how magic powers work. For that, he has yet to devise something to counter magical power his whole life, but now, with the introduction of Annabel, he could jump that bridge with her.
Stolen story; please report.
"Do we know where she might be? I need to find them myself!" "But, sir, the empire wants them dead!" "I don't give a damn if the emperor and his bitch want to kill her! Don't you realize!? If I can replicate her powers, the empire and all magically dependant global powers will crumble at my feet!"
The man on the other side of the line hesitates a little until they finally agree with the old mage, as they probably waged the risk for the reward. "Understood, sir, so you want me to keep her alive?" The young man on the other side of the line asks the mage, who quickly responds.
"Do all you can to do so, Martigan! I trust you to keep them safe until I make my way to Romaritime! Keep them safe!" "Understood, sir. I will do my best." The man who now hangs up the phone finally lets himself out of his tent, revealing that he was one of the many soldiers sent to kill Annabel by the emperor's order. Still, now, with new directives from his true master, he sets off to find Annabel before the other soldiers do.
