I still had time left before L'arc and Eclaire woke up, so I made breakfast. It was not too hard to get a fire going using a flint and stone, so I quickly had that going. Now, All I needed was eggs or something, so I looked around for bird nests.
It didn't take long after I began my search for me to spot a giant bird nest atop a tree. How would I get the nest, though? I don't know anything about climbing trees, and I doubt my pet frog can get it down without breaking all the eggs.
Then it hit me. I could use a stick and a rag! Yeah! I can poke the nest, and once they fall, I can catch them with a rag so they don't break! I'm a genius! And so my plan began, and it all went smoothly! One eggy, two eggies, three eggies! One angry bird mama! WAAAAHHHH!
{Angry Magi-Falcon noises. The noise triples in a matter of seconds as more arrive.}
Ahhhhh!! Adadada! I'm sowwy! Leave me alone! AHHHHH!! Yeah, I had about a whole flock of angry birds chasing me. I didn't drop the eggs, but that only made them angrier; I didn't know where to run, so I eventually dropped into the river to escape the birds.
I swam back to the river bank. Once the birds had left, I discovered that my Toad had followed me all along. Well, at least I wouldn't have to walk back to the camp, and also, I had the eggs! HA! Mission accomplished!
{Victory soundtrack.} [Anabel! Eggs acquired!]
As usual, I ordered my pet to give me a ride back to the camp, and it did without hesitation. Once we arrived, I had another task before me. How would I cook the eggies?! I have no saucepans or woks around.
I fired my mind, floating ideas around until I devised a clever solution. I would use a flat stone. Think about it! If it's clean enough, it should work! Besides, there were plenty of rocks to choose from, so I got to it until I found the perfect size.
Alright, after going through so much trouble, it was finally time to cook the eggs. I cracked the eggs on top of the blazing hot stone and used a stick to flip them around in time. L'arc and Eclaire woke up in the middle of the cooking process, so I greeted them.
Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.
"Uh? Good morning, Kiddo. What are you doing?" Asked L'arc.
"I'm making you guys breakfast."
"Oh, that's nice, but uh, Eclaire is allergic to eggs." @o@
Eclaire... You're going to eat these eggs even if it kills you! Do you know how many birdpecks I went through just to do a nice deed? Open wide! Come here, Eclaire, don't run away! You're gonna eat them and enjoy them!
Ultimately, I had to eat the eggs alone with L'arc as Eclaire ate my royal limited edition snack, TUT. I had hidden that instant bread snack for an emergency, which was so delicious. It was not fair! Dam your allergies, Eclaire!
Thankfully, my clothes dried off when we finished eating. So we were good to continue our travel on the same road as we had for the past day. The air was pure, and the ambient was relaxing, which was actually frightening.
I don't know if I clarified it enough, so I want to repeat it. Since when has the Goddess left me alone for so long?! She is always snooping around, so why has she been so quiet! It's beginning to give me chills!
"Hey! Hey, Kiddo! Who did you say you were again?" Asked L'arc as he rode next to me on his dragon.
"I'm Princess Anabel."
"Oh, yeah. So tell me, what is a princess doing far from the capital? Were you wishing for death or something?"
"L'arc! Come on! Stop with your harassment!"
"Hey! Hey! I just want to know. Usually, the royals stay in the main big cities. They love hiding themselves in their castles isolated from everyone else."
"L'arc! Watch your tone!"
"Or what Eclaire? What is the Kiddo going to do? She owes us her life."
Was that how the world thought of royalty? Thinking of it, I never knew the country had a king or a queen when I first spawned. I assumed there must be some government, but I never heard of the royal family.
What did the people think of me? Was the lack of information from the government why people felt like a coup was a good idea? Most definitely! I don't know much about governments, but I know how players react when video game developers refuse to acknowledge their players' complaints, so everyone leaves their game.
Was that how the people felt about us? Was that how we were acting? Like the developers who refuse to admit a problem with the system? If so, I would also be angry at the crown. I would also seek change. It made sense now.
As we kept moving forward, a cloud appeared in the middle of the road, and a group of people showed up from the smoke when it vanished. They were a little far away, but we were quickly approaching. Both L'arc and Eclaire slowed down.
"Looks like we got company, Eclaire! Prepare your support magic! Kiddo! You keep being you! It's worked for you so far."
