Hello, Phobos_86 here. I'm pretty sure that this'll be fairly short. Well, before I say anything, I'd like to say thank you for reading and keep on doing so in the future! These are my genuine thoughts even if it may feel like politeness to you guys. No, seriously, I enjoy all the happy comments and criticisms. They both act as a source of motivation and teaching material. 'Unexpected Reincarnation' is my first piece of fiction and I don't have expectations as high as the sky for its popularity.
I've noticed this as one of the problems that people start out when producing any content. They'll post something for the first time in their lives and have way too high an expectation for it. And when they see negative reviews on it, their spirits get broken. The saying, 'Keep your expectations low and you'll never be disappointed' should be followed during your 1st time posting something. But as you continue to post, you have a sense of responsibility to provide your viewer base with good content. I mean isn't that why you're following my work? Because you like it. If I start to half-ass it, it'd be betraying your expectation and I don't want that. I try to write chapters that I hope both you and I will enjoy.
One of the many examples of my first problem came from my friend. She posted her art online only to get trashed by others. It absolutely crushed her. There were negative comments comparing her work and belittling her. Here's my second point, If you want to post a negative comment, please for fucks sake have a reasoning behind it. Don't just comment, 'What a trash novel' with no reasoning behind it. Hell, if you have complaints, just say it, I'll fix it to the best of my abilities(not that you guys did this, all in all, I've found the 'Royal Road' community to be very supportive of authors). I won't say that any criticism is good criticism because that's deluding yourself. Only constructive criticism is good criticism. Because it helps to better my work. Do you have problems with the plot? Tell me and I'll see if it's reversible. Did you spot a plot hole? Thank you for telling me, I'll fix it in the same chapter or cover it up later. Through my first work, I intend to better my style and imagination so I can present you guys with something better. I'm already doing that now, You sometimes see me writing in a way that I don't usually write. Yeah, that's me trying to incorporate new, better styles into mine. So help me out by reviewing my works, but do it so I can be better the next time around. Because I sure as hell won't be entertaining people who comment negative things just to spite me.
Third point, if you want to post a type of content, please save yourself the trouble and do it on the appropriate website e.g. fiction on sites like Royal Road, Art on DeviantArt, videos on Youtube, etc. Don't be like some people who just post their shit on Facebook and look dejected when they don't get enough attention. I sure as hell haven't posted(or advertised) this novel on Facebook and won't do so. I did it on Royal Road. Because I know that there are other authors like me and that the viewer base on this website has an interest in novels. So they can help me out by posting good comments. If you post or advertise your work on social media, how many people do you think will see it? And how many of those people will actually visit your page? Certainly not many. And it's even less who will actually help in bettering your work.
Now, I'll talk a bit about my experience writing fanfiction. I think sometimes, writing fanfiction is harder than writing a novel, this is just from my experience, however. I do know that some people pour their blood, sweat, and tears into writing their novels, and I look up to them for that. Not many people have the creativity to make something original. But when I was writing this fanfic, I had to look up so many things and do so many things. Whenever I'm writing a tab is always open with the Harry Potter wiki showing. Especially the list of spells. There are more than 70 spells in the Harry Potter series and not all of them have been explicitly mentioned. And I'm just making things harder for myself by creating new spells(What the hell kind of Latin did J.K Rowling use? Why can't I find it? Why doesn't the omnipotent Google-san have it? The Latin from Google Translate is vastly different from the one used in the spells). And this is before the main storyline begins and I already have more than 10 tabs open. When the main storyline starts, I'm pretty sure I'll have to watch the movies or something coz I sure as hell won't be able to keep my schedule if I read the books. And you only need to work this hard if your story follows the main one. Tbh, I don't think you'd guys like this novel if I only used the world and not its characters. Also, if you're following the story, please keep the characters as close to the original as possible. Dumbledore should never utter the words, "You shitty little brat!" ( *cough* yes I'm taking jabs at a particular piece of work *cough*). Keep the characters consistent and it'll make the novel much better.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
On to some points about my story.
I tried to make a story different from mainstream reincarnation stories. My MC doesn't have any knowledge of the world he's in. And because he has no knowledge, sometimes I have to explain way more in my novels than the ones whose MCs know the plot. I can't just write, "Ahh yes, Diagon Alley looks exactly as described in the books." I don't have the luxury to do so. Neither can my MC just solve everything with a fart in the right direction. The only thing my MC has a vague amount of knowledge on magic and worlds that he got from the 'Akashic Records'. This is also a plot point. You don't just reincarnate with your memories and knowledge intact. Many people you see on the street maybe reincarnated people, oh look, there's Hitler reincarnated over there. But do you think he'll get rejected from an art university and start a World War again? No! If reincarnation is a thing(i can't say for certain, coz no one has their memories of their previous life and if someone does say shit about their previous life, don't mind them, they're just chunnibyous. Don't bother them too much, the seal on their right eye might get undone and the dark dragon trapped in it may destroy the world or something idk), then souls must go through the process of getting their memories and knowledge wiped clean. You don't see someone go up to the White House saying that they're the reincarnation of George Washington and with their soul right, they demand to become the president. So, that's why the plot point of our MC getting his soul wiped clean because of the Laws is a thing. And to offset something done by nature, you need power. Our MC has exactly that but not enough. He could only protect a vague amount of knowledge.
Back to our MC reincarnating without knowledge of this world, as I said in a note before, all events that happen will happen because of luck, choices, a bit of beforehand, and on-the-spot planning. Just like it happens in real life. Life is not a fairytale where anything you do won't ever have negative consequences. You do things half-assed in real life, you get half-assed results. That's why MC's father is mute now(The MC had really no choice if you think about it). Actions have consequences. And unlike normal omnipotent MCs who know the plot, my MC can't control everything. I also don't like how even though the actions of mainstream MCs should change the plot, the plot never changes. Hell, at least I have a plot point explaining why the plot still remains consistent. In real life, the Butterfly Effect is a thing. A rat shitting on the street today might get you Isekai'd the next. And when you think of how some mainstream MCs acknowledge the world they're in being a real-world with characters being real humans, it really makes you laugh when you see how the plot doesn't change due to their actions despite this being 'a real-world with characters being real humans'. The MC in my story doesn't know the world, can't control it and even though he can influence the world unless he directly influences or has an indirect influence big enough on it, the plot won't change that much.
The Akashic Records are a great way for me to explain various plot words but our MC won't be able to remember the existence of the Akashic Records but will be able to remember the knowledge within it. Yes, this is also a plot point and I'll mention it in a conversation in the post-author notes. Aside from quoting the Akashic Records, I'll also explain various things and hell even what type of existence the Akashic Records is through post note conversations and opinions of beings in different worlds like I did in chapter 10 where an unknown person explains the Parallel Story World. But that's all for the future.
Anyway, I won't eat up your time any longer. Let's see I haven't written much onl- 1757 words! Jesus Christ, this has more word count than the released chapters. Fuck gotta end this. As always thank you for listening to my ramblings, and thank you for reading my work. I hope you will continue to like it and read it in the near future.
