Chapter 8: New Spells, Spell Induced Potions And Mind Magic

Although, I was very eager to get a Walkman. I soon learned that you can't use electronic devices inside Hogwarts.

Drats! Now, my dream of having a portable music player is destroyed. No, once I know this world's magic item creation process, I'll make a magic Walkman myself.

I finally finished learning the Ancient Language just a few days after my 10th birthday. Naturally, I celebrated my birthday with the Weasleys and my mother, as we were very good friends. My mother gifted me a violin, I got a hand-knit sweater from Mrs. Weasley and the twins gave me some joke products. This was just so I could say I had a very social life. All efforts lead to an increase in my chances of living a peaceful life. Also, the twins started their 1st year at Hogwarts this year. So, I guess I can focus a bit more on my training and research.

So, today, I'm sitting in my room with 5 balls of lights at the fingertips of my right hand. I close my eyes and concentrate on the Lumos on my fingers. Soon, I see the same lines of Ancient Language as I did long ago. Now, I can actually read what they said. It's something like this:

Lumos

Intensity Of Lights Generated: 1 mu(Magical Unit)

Total Sources Of Light: 5

Colour Of Produced Light: White

Wow, this is interesting. So can I add changes to the aspects of the spell? I change the color of the lights from white to red. I feel the mana drain away from me. I almost feel 1/100th mana gone! Whoa, that much just for changing a light spell? No, that shouldn't matter. I also made one that emits UV light based on the Physics book I read. Now, let's see if I can add new conditions. I tinker with it for a bit and the end result is this:

Lumos

intensity Of Lights Generated: 3 mu(Magical Unit)

Total Sources Of Light: 5

Colour Of Produced Light: Red - Purple - Blue - Cyan - Green - Yellow - Orange - Red (Loop)

Interval Between Color Change: 0.05 seconds

So, now the Lumos on my fingers look like it's transitioning through the colors of a rainbow. But what if I want balls of lights that float instead of sitting on the tip of my fingers? I concentrate a bit but it seems that placing a floating condition on Lumos is a bit too far-fetched.

Suddenly, I'm hit with a stroke of inspiration. I chant a Bubble charm from my left hand but limit the mana so that it only produces 5 bubbles and so that they rest on my fingertips. I still have the color-changing Lumos in each of the fingertips of my right hand. I close my eyes and concentrate. And after a while, I see their lines of Ancient Language side by side as if they're each written on each of my eyes. I take both of my hands close to each other so that the fingertips of my hands meet each other. As soon as I do that, I feel 1/80th of mana drain and the Ancient Language of both spells dissolve into each other as if they were fusing. I see the end result and feel happy. I also think of a new name and add it. It looks like this:

Mediocris Gloria

Intensity Of Lights: 6 mu

Total Sources Of Light: 0

Colour Of Produced Light: Red - Purple - Blue - Cyan - Green - Yellow - Orange - Red (Loop)

Interval Between Color Change: 0.05 seconds

Position: Fixed/Unfixed

Direction: Horizontal/Vertical

I open my eyes and chant the newly crafted spell.

Mediocris Gloria!

I see small color-changing balls of lights emerge from my fingertips. They began to float upwards instead of staying on my fingertips. I conjure more than the five initially. They began to dance in the air. I willed their positions to be fixed and they all stopped in the air. Within my darkened room, the sight was enchanting to see. I snuff out all the lights, satisfied with the result and hopeful of the future.

I was in my room making potions. Although I was proficient in making potions that were taught to 4th years at Hogwarts, I didn't dare to get complacent. And now I'm trying to make spell-induced potions. The process is interesting, to say the least.

Like I said before, you can't just induce spells in any potions. There needs to be compatibility. For example, you can only induce the spells Lacarnum Inflamari, Incendio, and hypothetically Fire Storm in potions made with flammable ingredients to make a sort of magic Molotov. And you don't just fire the spell off into the potion. No, you have to put your hand on the surface of the potion, and chant the spell but not finish. What I mean is inducing the spell molded mana in the potion. Spells are cast by drawing out your mana, molding the mana in the requirements of the spell, and then materializing the spell. To induce a spell inside the potion, you abandon the last spell and transfer the molded mana inside the potion. And when the potion is used, it will use the mana in the atmosphere to materialize, completing the process. Any molded mana will always try to get materialized, it's like an instinct. Just as how a caterpillar won't stay a caterpillar, it will always wrap itself in a cocoon and emerge as a butterfly. But when you induce molded mana inside a potion, it won't be able to materialize as the potion traps it in. Similarly how molded mana doesn't just simply materialize itself inside your body. When the potion is used, the molded mana trapped inside the potion becomes free but as soon as it comes into contact with the atmospheric mana it materializes, and the effect is amplified with the help of the compatible potion.

Since I don't have a wand, I can only induce some elementary spells inside the potions. I can only make basic spell-induced potions. I should really shorten the name. I guess I'll just call them 'Spell Potions'.

So far I've created:

Liquiflame: When thrown will apply the target with a flammable liquid and set them on fire.

Liquiglue: When thrown will add an adhesive liquid, sticking on them and limiting their movement.

Suffobubble: When thrown will encase the target in a water-filled bubble. For best results, throw at the head.

Liquifreeze: When thrown will freeze the target. Will only freeze the liquid-covered zones.

Traclight: When applied will cause the target to leave a trail of liquid light. Can only be viewed in UV.

Aquafoam: When thrown causes foam to form at the target.

These are a great alternative if I ever happen to run out of mana. Also, some of these are utility spell potions as well which could help in specific situations.

Now, if only I had a wand, imagine the havoc I could wreak.

Well, would you look at that! Mind magic is a thing here as well. I asked my mom as I remembered that I need to learn mind magic as well. For both mental assault and fortification. Getting hit by mental magic is both a horrible and painful experience. It feels like being naked, all your secrets exposed. 0/10 wouldn't recommend it. Well, it's not like they can drag this knowledge out of my hea-

Ahh right, this isn't the Original Story World, it has become a Parallel Story World.

Dammnit, just how much work do I have to do to get my basic defenses up? No! Calm down, Sol, all the work you do now will lead to achieving a peaceful life.

In this world, mind magic is 2 kinds: Legilimency and Oculomancy. Legilimency is mental attacks and Oculomancy is mental fortifications. Thank god, mental magic is composed of only these 2 types. Fuck, I remember so many types of mental magic that it's fucking ridiculous.

I won't even need the books for these if the world only has up to 4th-grade mind magic. Mind Magic starts in 4th grade. This is going to be easy.

And as if the world itself agrees with me, I learn both Oculomancy and Legilimency within a month. I also improved on this world's techniques as I learned later. Apparently, this world only has you build walls, traps, and fakes as defensive measures. Ok, that's fine but why wouldn't you set up countermeasures as well? And I did exactly that. I built a nation inside my mind palace with various buildings which house my many mental faculties. There are also fake buildings to give invaders the slip, traps, winding alleys, and also some invader-triggered weapons that'll give immense pain to anyone who trips them. Also, there's are two problems.

First, although I call it my 'Mind Palace', it's actually called the 'Mind Space'. So, I guess I'll change how I call it. But that's not as big a problem as the next one.

Apparently, most people can only build cities inside their mind space. But somehow, I've built an entire fucking nation. Does that have something to do with the unknown knowledge inside my head or the fact that I didn't have infantile amnesia?

Just what kind of mental monster have I become?
