Chapter 48: New Year, New Problem

Chapter 48: New Year, New Problem

A Few Days Later

“Come on, hurry up! Only fifteen minutes till the train leaves!” Mrs. Weasley shouted as the Weasleys, Sol, and Harry walked inside King's Cross Station. They each pushed a trolley with their luggage on it except for Mr. and Mrs. Weasley.

Sol walked and chatted with the twins. After finding the treasure trove that was Tom Riddle's diary, he closed it and stored it away inside his bag. He did not open it again after that. Because he didn’t want to practice Dark Spells there. He had the room and so he would do it there where it was much safer. And this morning, Sol as always woke up early. And following him, the others did too. So, they reached King's Cross Station a good 15 minutes before the train left and didn’t hurry that much.

The group passed by all the muggles as they came to the wall which would take them to Platform 9 and ¾.

“Fred, George, Percy, and Sol, you first!” Mr. Weasley motioned them to go ahead.

They nodded and ran towards the wall. They ran through it as the others watched. After the four were gone, Mrs. Weasley patted Ginny on the back who nodded at her before charging at the wall. She too like four before her disappeared into the wall. After her, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley walked through the wall together leaving Harry and Ron behind.

“Let's go!” Harry told Ron as they charged towards the wall with determined faces. As they got closer...

Clank! Clatter! Thud!

The two crashed into the wall and fell over. Their luggage fell off the trolley and both animal cages rolled on the ground with the animals inside them making sounds of displeasure. The loud noise attracted a lot of attention from the nearby muggles. Harry and Ron slowly got from the ground and rubbed their aching limbs. A security guard happened to be nearby and asked the two in his heavy British accent, “Oi! What are you two doing?!”

“S-Sorry. Lost control of the trolley,” Harry gave him an excuse to which Ron hurriedly nodded.

The security guard shook his head in disapproval and left the two.

After he left, Harry panicked and asked Ron, “Why can’t we get through?!”

“I don't know-” Ron had a frightened expression on his face as he touched the wall which now felt solid, “-the gateway has sealed itself for some reason.”

The two looked at the clock which was hung on a wall near them. It read 10:49. Harry felt confused, “Strange. It’s not even 11 o’clock, then why is it closed?”

After hearing this, Ron looked at Harry as his expression turned ugly, “Harry, if we can’t go through...maybe mum and dad can’t get back.”

Harry bit his lips, “Maybe we should wait here.”

Ron's expression brightened, “Right, there’s still time! They might notice us missing!”

“Then let’s stay here!” Harry nodded as the two decided to wait for the others to get them.

Meanwhile, Sol was chatting merrily with the twins as he walked towards the train. After walking a bit, he heard a feminine voice, “Sol!”

He looked in front of him to see Katie waving at him. He smiled and waved back at her. She was standing with her parents. He went up and greeted her and her parents. As he was talking to her, he seemed to feel a piercing gaze on him. He shifted his gaze to see her father glaring at him. If looks could kill, Sol would have already died. Sol's face warped in confusion.

What the hell? Did I do his wife or something? Why is he looking at me like that?

After talking a while, Katie and Sol both noticed Hermione who was pushing her trolley while her father walked beside her. She walked up to them and greeted them. But then she asked, “Where’s Harry and Ron?”

“What do you mean?-” Sol turned around and pointed behind him before abruptly stopping, “They're right he-”

Sol searched around for them once he didn’t see them within his sight. He activated Mana Search but still couldn’t find them. His expression turned grave as he told the two girls, “Wait right here or board the train. I'll be right back.”

The two girls looked at each other with a serious expression before they did as they were told. Sol left the two and went straight to Mr. and Mrs. Weasley who were talking with Ginny.

“Mr. Weasley, it seems Harry and Ron aren’t here?” Sol said once he got their attention.

“What?!” Mrs. Weasley gasped.

“Are you sure?” Mr. Weasley asked.

Sol nodded and said, “They were right behind us but it seems that they didn’t come through the wall.”

Mrs. Weasley turned to her husband in a panic, “Arthur, you don’t think...something happened to them!”

“Nonsense, Molly! They’re both outstanding wizards. They should be able to stay out of trouble.”

“But they're only twelve. They don't-”

Sol sighed and cut them off, “Could I trouble you to see where they are?”

“R-Right!” Mr. Weasley nodded. “I’ll go outside and take a look.”

“I’m coming with you!” Mrs. Weasley declared. She then looked at Ginny before pushing her to Sol, “Sol, dear, could I ask you to get Ginny boarded?”

Sol smiled, “Sure.”

With that, they separated. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley headed out of Platform 9 and ¾ while Sol took Ginny and started walking towards Katie and Hermione.

“Did you find them?” both of them asked with a sense of urgency.

Sol shook his head, “No. But I told Mr. and Mrs. Weasley and they’ve gone to find them.”

The two girls sighed in relief. It was now that Ginny said, “It'll be all fine if they don’t do something stupid.”

The two girls snapped their heads to look at Ginny while Sol nodded, “Don't wish for that much. Ron's with Harry.”

“Oh...” Ginny's face became sullen.

After that, they chatted and talked some more. After a few minutes later when it was time to board the train, the girls' expression became more urgent and fearful.

“Why’re they still not back?” Hermione asked.

“Maybe something happened?” Ginny asked fearfully.

Sol waved his hands to calm them down, “Don’t worry. Both Mr. and Mrs. Weasley are powerful wizards. Nothing too grave should happen to them.”

“Do you think Vold-” Hermione was going to ask something but Sol clamped her mouth shut with his finger.

“Mmph! Mm!” Hermione attempted to talk as she looked at Sol with confusion on her face. Her lips were clamped in such a way that they took the shape of a duck beak.

“I know you said not to fear that name,” Sol reprimanded her, “But there’s a reason why people don’t say it and it doesn’t have to do with fear.”

Sol let go of her lips and Hermione immediately started speaking, “It's not because they fear him?”

Sol facepalmed, “Did you not know why his name shouldn’t be said when you tried to argue with Lucius Malfoy?”

Hermione said in a quiet voice, “I mean I thought it was because they feared him.”

“Ugh! It’s because his name is cursed and it’ll give away the speaker’s location to him.”

The two girls except for Ginny immediately shuddered in fear. Katie knew what Hermione was going to say before Sol interrupted her but like Hermione, she wasn’t sure why people didn’t say his name.

Ginny, being as clueless as she was asked, “Um...what are you guys talking about?”

Sol forced a smile, “It’s something best explained to you by your mother since my own knowledge about it isn’t all that much.”

Katie and Hermione said more things to Ginny but Sol didn’t hear them as he was completely focused on what he was seeing in his periphery.

A boy with light brown hair bordering on blonde was walking past them. He had a baby face which made him much younger than his actual age. He seemed to be a first year. The act of walking past was not weird but the boy had his gaze locked on Hermione. He seemed to be walking extra slowly as he walked past them. He also had a red tint on his cheeks. Sol smirked inwardly.

It seems spring has come for our bookworm.

However, he couldn't think about that for long as the boy frowned and his expression turned grim when he looked at Ginny. His gaze finally landed on Sol whereupon his face was riddled with shock and he narrowed his eyes at Sol. Sol naturally could see all this happening through his periphery but his eyes were directed towards the three girls in front of him as if he hadn’t noticed the boy. The boy stopped looking at them and went on. At this moment, Katie giggled and teased, “I think someone's taken a fancy to our Hermione.”

“W-What?!” Hermione stuttered as she blushed.

“Look,” Katie pointed towards that boy, “He was staring at you for quite a while.”

Hermione turned around and looked at the boy's back before turning back and glaring at Katie. “Stop it! I don’t even know who that is!” she hissed.

Katie went on to tease her. Meanwhile, Sol was observing Katie while he was inwardly horrified.

How could you even- That's when he remembered something his mother said. Jesus Christ, a woman's intuition is really frightening.

After a while, they boarded the train. However, the girls still panicked whereas Sol tried tirelessly to calm them down. As they passed by the compartments, Ginny got into a compartment that had first-years like her. That boy was there too. When he saw Hermione again, his cheeks turned red. Katie pointed at the boy and teased Hermione who tried to stop her. In the midst of all these, Sol used Mana Eyes to view the boy and was stunned.

W-What the hell? His aura...isn't it a bit...it’s not possible for an eleven-year-old.

That's right! The boy had a mixture of black and white in his aura. However, what was weird about that was the concentration of black in his aura was impossible for a kid his age to have since those sins are exclusive to someone twice his age and above. After viewing for a bit, Sol flinched. It wasn’t due to the surprise but because of the sudden headache. His head felt like it was being hit by a jackhammer. Sol clenched his teeth so that the pain wouldn’t show on his expression. He hurried out of there. Once he was out of the boy's sight, he clutched his head, trying to ease the pain. He bent over and tried to ease himself. The pain was miserable and as he squirmed trying to ease the pain, his eyes shifted to the window. He looked at his reflection on the window with his jaw agape, unable to process the new information. Small sparks of red lightning were dancing around his head. They flashed and zigzagged. He looked at them for quite a while before turning towards the direction of the boy's compartment. His gaze was fiery with a hint of disbelief in them. He clenched his jaw at the new problem.
